Robert Powell, the man who portrayed Jesus in a way that no one has ever done before or after, in a scene with one of the greatest actors of all time, Sir Laurence Olivier. Directed by Zeffirelli.
@alexandruciubuc-7464 Are you referring to the last temptation of Chris? I agree! Although some of the scenes were exaggerated, it contradicted scripture on the life of Christ.
With you Holy Heavenly Father Lord Almighty and Redeemer CHRIST JESUS OF NAZARETH Father Lord Please? Help me to remember every detail of your Holy Word and to remember: day and night on earth and by Heart ❤️ as much as you will have me. LOVE YOU. AMEN AND AMEN.
@@PursuitOfTruthOfficial Jesus did not have long hair, as portrayed in the movies, pictures, and media and neither was the son of God puny, skinny, weak, short, with a homeless appearance, dirty, hippie like, etc. Jesus was a perfect man, son of the all mighty God. The movies depict Jesus with a very awful appearance. ● Features: Jesus was a Jew and likely inherited common Semitic traits from his mother. (Hebrews 7:14) It is unlikely that his features were especially distinctive. On one occasion he was able to travel in secret from Galilee to Jerusalem without being recognized. (John 7:10, 11) And he apparently did not stand out even among his closest disciples. Recall that Judas Iscariot had to identify Jesus to the armed crowd that arrested him.-Matthew 26:47-49. ● Hair length: It is unlikely that Jesus’ hair was long, because the Bible says that “long hair is a dishonor to a man.”-1 Corinthians 11:14. In instructions to priests given through the prophet Ezekiel, God commanded that they clip, but not shave, the hair of their heads and that they not wear their hair loose when serving in the temple. -Ezek 44:15, 20. ● Beard: Jesus wore a beard. He followed Jewish law, which prohibited adult males from ‘disfiguring the edges of their beard.’ (Leviticus 19:27; Galatians 4:4) Also, the Bible mentions Jesus’ beard in a prophecy about his suffering.-Isaiah 50:6. ● Body: All indications are that Jesus was physically robust. During his ministry, he traveled many miles. (Matthew 9:35) He cleansed the Jewish temple twice, overturning the tables of money changers, and once drove out livestock with a whip. (Luke 19:45, 46; John 2:14, 15) McClintock and Strong’s Cyclopedia states: “The whole evangelical narrative indicates [Jesus’] sound and vigorous bodily health.”-Volume IV, page 884. ● Facial expressions: Jesus was warm and compassionate, and his facial expressions no doubt reflected this. (Matthew 11:28, 29) People of all sorts sought him out for comfort and help. (Luke 5:12, 13; 7:37, 38) Even children felt at ease in his presence.-Matthew 19:13-15; Mark 9:35-37. Misconceptions about Jesus’ appearance Misconception: Some argue that Jesus must have been of African descent because the book of Revelation compares his hair to wool and his feet to “burnished bronze.”-Revelation 1:14, 15, The New Jerusalem Bible. Fact: The book of Revelation is presented “in signs.” (Revelation 1:1) The description of Jesus’ hair and feet uses symbolic language to illustrate Jesus’ qualities after his resurrection, not to describe his physical appearance when he was on earth. In saying that Jesus’ “head and his hair were white as white wool, as snow,” Revelation 1:14 uses color, not texture, as a point of comparison. This represents his wisdom due to age. (Revelation 3:14) This verse is not comparing the texture of Jesus’ hair to that of wool any more than it is comparing the texture of his hair to that of snow. Jesus’ feet looked “like fine copper when glowing in a furnace.” (Revelation 1:15) Also, his face was “like the sun when it shines at its brightest.” (Revelation 1:16) Since no race has skin color matching these descriptions, this vision must be symbolic, showing the resurrected Jesus as the one “who dwells in unapproachable light.”-1 Timothy 6:16. Misconception: Jesus was weak and frail. Fact: Jesus was manly in his behavior. For example, he boldly identified himself to the armed crowd that came to arrest him. (John 18:4-8) Jesus must also have been physically strong to have worked as a carpenter using manual tools.-Mark 6:3. Why, then, did Jesus need help to carry his torture stake? And why did he die before the others executed with him died? (Luke 23:26; John 19:31-33) Just prior to Jesus’ execution, his body was seriously weakened. He had been up all night, in part because of emotional agony. (Luke 22:42-44) During the night the Jews had mistreated him, and the next morning the Romans had tortured him. (Matthew 26:67, 68; John 19:1-3) Such factors likely hastened his death. Misconception: Jesus was always somber, melancholy. Fact: Jesus perfectly reflected the qualities of his heavenly Father, Jehovah, whom the Bible describes as “the happy God.” (1 Timothy 1:11; John 14:9) In fact, Jesus taught others how to be happy. (Matthew 5:3-9; Luke 11:28) These facts indicate that Jesus often reflected happiness in his facial expressions.
2:21/2:35 (The look on Nicodemus face is classic moment). It was as if at this precious time that Nicodemus understood the mystery of the ages and was no longer perplexed over the ministry of Jesus. It's possible that when Jesus said... that the world may be saved through him, that Nicodemus' mind reflected on how Old Testament Levitical priesthood animal sacrifices were offered for forgiveness of the people and how now God's upgraded plan was for Jesus to become our Supreme Passover Sacrifice for salvation. Robert Powell's performance as Jesus of Nazareth was fascinating and just incredible. He captured the essence of Jesus' character in this movie more so than any other actor who played the role of Jesus in other movies on Christ. And I salute the other actors in this film; they did a fantastic job as well at playing other biblical characters. The movie Jesus of Nazareth is a masterpiece.

I know this is a very lovely reenactment of Nicodemus visiting with Jesus. But according to the bible, Nicodemus visited Jesus at night time. And it was actually at the very beginning of Jesus's earthly ministry. In this version, it seems like it's taking place 2 days before Jesus got arrested
There is a free full movie on UA-cam based on the gospel of John that is pretty good and shows this scene at night. It also shows how the Lord visited the apostles several times after death.

The part of God that was sent had to feel the pain and God felt the pain of his people and showed he was there, and understanding so those who followed Jesus would be saved and have everlasting life, those who did not would reap what they had sown. I think Jesus believed in Reincarnation.
He's talking about birthing the Soul. The Soul is not human. If the host is pure in mind and heart, the Soul separates and is taken up to a lampstand. When it returns to the body, it consumes the host consciousness. This is the only way to everlasting life.
John 3:3 Our Lord Jesus Christ explains ,that without water babtism to be born again ( full immersion in the water ) no one will go to heaven. It is an act of faith a declaration 😊.
Is the act of going into water what saves? Or is it the act of repenting and giving yourself to God through Jesus that saves? In any event; your reference to John 3:3 does not say what you claim. What you claim is what you read into it. John baptized with water but Jesus baptizes with fire and the Holy Spirit. I never had full water baptism but Jesus did save me and not in church but in a room in a rental home. God searches hearts and God will have mercy on who he chooses and a technicality such as that will not separate one from the love of God. Failure to believe and to repent and follow Jesus puts a person in jeopardy of hellfire but clearly not a technicality such as this.
@kevindmontedmonte5596 Are you saying that everybody that confessed Jesus on their deathbed or at the end of their life is not going to heaven ? I don't think so. Yes it should be done as an outward declaration of one's acceptance of Jesus and we should try and do as Jesus has done, but if you don't, it will not keep you out of heaven. Acts 16:31-34, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Difficult for Pharisee Nicodemus. But ask & try his did. Now if a Pharisee can be open to Jesus. Those who are not under the heavy weight of being a Jewish law man be open to hear Jesus. He is light and his burden isn’t heavy and he will wash you and prepare your self to receive the Holy Spirit who will tidy up your life and prepare you for your life as a light seeking person- ready to do good and shun evil.
Was the Good Samaritan "born again" or was he simply a follower of the command that to get to heaven you must love God and your neighbor as yourself. But this parable is not from the mythic Christ but from the real Jesus who when asked the way to heaven did not reply "I am the way etc" but quoted from the Torah like a good rabbi should. The gospel writers would never have allowed this response so it must be an interpolation. But it is the only part of the gospels that has the truth in it.
Deliberately removed the reference to water baptism in John 3:5, Protestant heretics made this film. Pope Paul III, The Council of Trent, canons on the Sacrament of Baptism, Session 7, canon 2, ex cathedra: “If anyone shall say that real and natural water is not necessary for baptism, and on that account those words of Our Lord Jesus Christ: ‘Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit’ [John 3:5], are distorted into some sort of metaphor: let him be anathema.”

I have been feeling so low and in extreme arthritis pain. This is something that I can't share with my mother or sister. I would LOVE just a note, card, letter, one piece of paper - just to feel that I have my own life - my own happiness without criticism, my own way of having friends. I have not been having a social circle for about 25 years. I have been single and trying to cope without feeling blue. Please send me a letter or a brief note, anything...will make me happy. I feel so sad and lonesome, - but I am really trying to be positive. I'm ver embarrassed to ask this of you. I just feel like I would LOVE some mail! XOXO Nancy R. Mills 90 Symonds Street, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, B3A 3M2! I will be forever grateful!xoxoxoxoxo I really need this! I'm so sad, but hopeful.
If you are a true Christian you will never be alone and you will always be loved, for you have god and millions of brothers and sisters who love you like they love themselves.
@@TricklingRaindrop maybe it's an idea to visit a local church that connects to you? If that's possible I would advise in doing so, you will meet like minded people and are able to form social connections. I share your pain about feeling single though, it can be incredibly difficult for a human being, but all we can do is do our best and accept the fate that is bestowed upon us. It's easy to have faith when you don't face any difficulties in life but know that when life is difficult it also presents us with the perfect opportunity to prove our faith, not only to God but to ourselves as well!

Jesus tried to make Nicodemus and us understand ! Hopefully we are born again in our faith.Enough to be considered for Heaven !
Love this movie - thanks for posting this scene - very powerful reminder what the solution is when my heart is troubled and my mind confused
Say what you will about Jim Caveizel and Willem DeFoe, but Robert Powell will always be my favorite portrayal of Christ.
You are absolutely right in my opinion. Robert Powel is the best of all the actors who have portrayed Jesus.

Under the cover of night though?

So your name is written in the book of life when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
The Sabbath is an Appointment with God. It is NOT on a Sunday. Jesus is the Lord of the Sabb5, Friday Sunset through s unday sunset
He looks like Kabir Bedi
Nicodemus went to the source of his questions
to get answers.
Atheists don't do that.

Jeffrey Hunter and Robert Powell is probably the best ones who played Christ .
It’s”ACCEPT” not “except” learn English
Was the Good Samaritan "born again" or was he simply a follower of the command that to get to heaven you must love God and your neighbor as yourself. But this parable is not from the mythic Christ but from the real Jesus who when asked the way to heaven did not reply "I am the way etc" but quoted from the Torah like a good rabbi should. The gospel writers would never have allowed this response so it must be an interpolation. But it is the only part of the gospels that has the truth in it.
Jesus never said those things in bible which are at end those are writtings of jhon.

Jesus did not have long hair, as portrayed in the movies, pictures, and media and neither was the son of God puny, skinny, weak, short, with a homeless appearance, dirty, hippie like, etc.

@@venezzrok871 Thank you. I always pray to Jesus as well as the Saints for their intercession. Thank you for commenting.
So tell them HOW
