Solo hiking the Goldfields Track - Victoria - Part 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 вер 2024
- My first attempt at the Goldfields Track, but rather than start at the southern end, I catch the train up to Bendigo and walk south.
Due to recent storms, both Lerderderg and parts of the Wombat Forrest / State Parks were closed.

You have such a natural way of speaking to camera, everything that comes out of your mouth is interesting to listen to haha. I still have to watch your part 2 and 3 but seems like a nice track so far! (Except for the scary fenced off hole, and trees at night!)
Awwww thanks!! Coming from you, that's big props!! 👍
Aka.. The water race 😊
yes your right what you said, a bit paranoid about the braches, unless there was a storm the odds of a branch falling on your tent would be the same as winning the lotto
Yep, but knowing my luck :P I'm always checking and trying to minimise the chances.
Well done!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Gimbal footage way better :) Awesome Vlog mate! :)
Thanks for the feedback! Also, better for commentary when camera facing me or away along trail?
How heavy is that pack
From memory, around 22 kgs I think 👍
Such a great video ! I am thinking of walking it myself in a couple of mounths ! Any problems with mosquitoes?
Hi - No, not from memory, though in a few months will be the height of summer, so I'd be taking some Aerogard or similar :P
Hey mate, as a decent sized fella, what type of sleeping bag do you use? I find anything at anaconda that’s designed for hiking won’t fit my shoulders/chest in comfortably and I struggle for a good nights sleep.
Hey Wade - I contacted Snowys here in Australia, they have an online store and they recommended a Sea to Summit Explore ExII - it wasn't cheap! About $400 AUD from memory. I just looked for it again and can't find it on the Snowys or SeaToSummit page, but I did find this: seatosummit.com/product/trek-sleeping-bag-tkii/
It might be the new version?
Either way, it was uncomfortably expensive, but when it arrived I was blown away by the size of the thing! It's huge!! But packs down to the size of a small watermelon(?)
I'm actually about to do a vlog on my other channel that will include in the next few weeks. Once I've edited it, I'll post a link here (if I remember).
Thanks for the reply. That link was a great help.
I love the videos as I live in the same area to some of them.
When’s the continuation of the last vid coming out!?!?
@@wadejoseph8684 Well to be honest, I was about to head out on Monday and continue the track, but I'm sitting on the computer right now reading that it's closed due to all the storm damage :( Just doing some research atm
Update - looks like the track is open from Mount Alexander (end of this video) down to Daylesford (80kms), anything south of that appears to be closed or suffering damage. So 80kms, across 5 days, 16kms a day - something to consider :P
It just uploaded :) As soon as YT finishes processing it, I'll make it live. Unfortunately that might be a couple of days :(
