I have 2 of those. Awesome and Reliable. I just bought the Behringer Xair16. I swear by Behringer, I play 6 nights a week and no problems yet. 15 years on my oldest head.

I will check your channel if you have something on pros / cons of that option. Really like the easy style and pace of your speaking. Please do keep it simple so non-techs like us understand. Good review and explanation. My friend just bought the desk version of this (the PMP 4000) and it's great. She uses it for her small stage show for kids. Three radio mics and laptop playback. FOH speakers and one monitor. Works really well.
I use a similar system, but I use a non powered 6 channel, mixer for the drums, then line it to one of the channels, which gives me a master drum mix, the the sound guy can just bring one fader up and down, Great video, Bro,
How would you set up in ears with this mixer? I connected the Xvive unit to the monitor out and no signal. It’s a good mixer for rehearsals! More channels would be nice with a 6 piece band. Also, it’s next to impossible to find new 3 way pa speakers.
I have a peavy XR 684f a studiomaster 700d amplifier and x2 prosound 300w speakers. Theres two other speakers, one looks like a floor monitor. Not sure. Its all working i just don't know what i can use it for. It was gifted to me by my next-door neighbour who recently passed away. He was a club singer, entertainer
Fantastic. I knew a fair amount about various gear in 1979 and then gave it up for other pursuits. So its fascinating to see what has come along since. so much more for much less. Many thanks, Dr. Groovy. I dig it, man! Compressors again? a combo amp of solid state and tubes(of some thing like that. that you once recommended. Even the volume pedal fix, too. Your videos were and are the best by a large margin. I bought lessons. How could I go wrong, right?
Hello Scott, I have been an old fan of yours for many years, I have learned a lot today with this video that you shared with us, sadly I cannot afford to buy this Behringer Mixer, so I wanted to ask you if you recommend the Phonic brand? Someone offers me one that apparently has similar features to the one you recommend, although with less power, and the price seems fair to me, the exact model is Phonic 865 Plus PowerPod Series, the problem is that there is little information on the internet about that mixer and maybe you can help me a little with your vast experience, greetings from Mexico City
Not sure if you still use these Scott, but there's a current Harbinger powered mixer that looks to be identical to this Behringer. All the controls/inputs/outputs are the same, including the preamp outs you like. LP9800 is the model, played a couple shows with a friend who used one and didn't have any issues
Hello, Music Tribe is the parent company for Behringer and Harbinger...so, Identical copies are quite common with the 2 brands. I still have 7 of the Behringer units and only 1 has ever went dead on me. I'm not sure what caused it to happen. It could be a simple fuse, I haven't looked into it. Thanks for watching and writing to me. Stay GROOVY!!!
So, I have 4 p.a. speakers and 2 Acoustic A20 amps for monitors. How would you suggest hooking these up? Also does the owners manual explain the pre amp and power amp inputs pretty good? If so, im gonna print it off.
great video Scott.. thanks for sharing.. my question..am I correct in understanding that if I just want to run main speakers left & right. .. I can run 2 , 8 ohm cabs ( daisy chained) {which would be 4 ohms) on each side/left & right... and it would still jut be 4 ohms? thanks a million.
If you ONLY want to run 2 cabinets in stereo, you would run one per side instead of daisy chaining them. If you are wanting to run monitors as well, you would flip the switch to main/mon and run the 2 speakers daisy chained at 4 ohms...you would do the same with the monitors. I hope that helps out. Cheers.
I've been using one of those PMX2000's for a very long time indeed. It powers small festival stages, for the most part. We also run one at work, and load up every channel. For mixing "in the trenches" this is a good one. The XENYX 1604 mixer is also a nice tool if you want analog mixing + 16 track recorder all in one. Its only downfall are the cheap faders.
Im a bit confused, I want to run a floor monitor.. does it have to be passive or active??? And where is the input for that single monitor i want to run???
Hi, you want to run a passive monitor. There will always be a switch that allows to run a right and a left speaker from the back, or you can flip the switch on the front that will say something like "main/monitor" and when you switch it, you can run one main speaker and jump the other main speaker off of that one and on the back it will show the other channel of the amp that is the output to your monitors. You will have a dedicated equalizer to use for your monitors on the mixer as well.
Thanks for the vid. Just looked up the newer version [d> of this powered monitor and It has separate eq section and monitor volume knob...but no separate output for those monitors. Qhat a drag. The older version you have is less power but better goodies. What the he'll was the company thinking?
Hey Dr Groovy just bought me this berhinger system on your recommendation and thank you for this video! Is your DVD still available for sale on how to set up PA system? PA 101?
Yes, it is! I have it uploaded to UA-cam, but as unlisted. Here is a link that will allow you to watch it instead of making you pay for it. I hope it helps you out. ua-cam.com/video/ONPwP5HNLiM/v-deo.html
This is a great explanation of this mixer. I looked at buying one of these in a used package deal. The issue is that the speakers that come with it only have inputs. I won’t be able to run both main speakers off the left/main and my passive monitors off the right/monitor side. I assume I’d have to buy a separate amp for the mons and run them out the preamp on front.
Groovy Music Lessons thanks much! I’m pretty new to this and that’s a huge help. Although, wouldn’t running two 8 ohm speakers off each side drop the total load to 2 ohms and potentially damage the amp?
If you have the switch set for Mains/Monitor operation, then it would only be 4 ohms per side or per power amp. So, in THAT case, you would be fine and dandy. You would then have one of those equalizers for the mains and the other equalizer for your monitors. Since the unit has two totally separate power amps in it, you can run 4 ohms off of both sides no matter what. If it was a single channel power amp, then yes, you would be exactly right. That is one other reason I love these particular mixers so much, very versatile.
Hi Scott, Love your video's and have learnt a lot from them, thank you. I am in a band ( of pensionable age) and want to improve our sound by using a sub woofer be it passive or active as you hopefully would be able to help us with. The sub would have to suit our PA amplifier, which is a Europower PMP 2000, as the one in your video, the speakers we have at the moment are Yamaha CBR 10 which are 8 ohm and only have one Speakon input for each, my question to you is how do you wire in an either passive or active sub into the Europower, sorry to go on a bit Regards Kevin ( from Cyprus Europe )
I would think you would prefer a powered sub so not to take power away from your main speakers. On the pro side of eqpt. For decent subs at decent price check out Harbinger if on a budget. For a little more money Kali makes very good subwoofers and don't let their size fool ya. They are high SPL subs that also sound great. Not for very large crowds say over 150-200 people. After that I would lean towards JBL and naturally QSC one of the best PA speaker brands out there if the budget allows. Yamaha too to match your current setup. But I tend to prefer Yamaha in the studio than on stage and find their items a bit overpriced with their Pro Speakrrs. For solid build and good sound that's what I've noticed.
Hi, thanks for sharing this amazing video. Can you please ( or anyone here) show me how to setup my PRX 812W speakers to the PRX715 powered Sub to the MW12C Yamaha Mixer. I do have the DBX EQ and the DBX drive rack and also the Lexicon. I am so greatly thankful for your help in advance.👍🏻👌
Hey Scott, many thanks, great video as always. I bought your PA DVD awhile back and learned much. This freebie has added to my knowledge as I have been "Guitarded" re PA for many years. Recently bought one of those Bose "stick" systems , which go behind the band and require no monitors. I am also looking at a QSC digital board to get rid of the Yorkville M1610 powered head we line out to the Bose for more channels. Looking to "lighten my PA load" as I am in my 60's but still giging. Would appreciate any comments either negative or positive. B
Thank you for this tutorial. I have the same exact Behringer but always needed more info on all its functionality. The manual doesn’t tell you jack shit! This was perfect. I appreciate you covering sub mixing also. Now I can mic up the drums along with everything else.
I have Karaoke system (2 Bose 802 series, Peavey XR684 9 channel mixer) do I really need a mixer to complete a karaoke system. I setup in the past without a mixer, the output sound didn’t sound right. Maybe I didn’t have a correct setting on the Peavey power amp)
Thanks Scott. I just bought a PMX 2000 here in New Zealand. Your directions are easy to follow and... friendly. Are you sure you're a real sound-man??!
Hey Scott, I'm seeing a lot of the PMXs on the market these days and not too many PMPs. Can you tell us all what's wrong with those/why not to buy them? Thank you sir, love the videos.
@@mistermojo1969 I still use a PMX in my music room. Nothing wrong with them. They are simply a really old model now and the start to slowly break down, starting with one channel at a time going bad and one set of the 2 graphic eq's going bad so that it can only be ran in mono etc. So, they have proven not to last in the REALLY LONG run. I have 5 of the PMPs. I fully trust in those.
@@groovydjs Thanks so much, I will hold out for one of the PMPs. Mine is just going to go into my practice room as well, don't expect it to see much live use.
Hello Scott. When you took all your videos down I was trying to build a rack, just a simple one. I would look around at yard sales and such. Then seen a new one online and I bought it. It's a Behringer Xenyx 1222USB. Premium 16-input 2/2 bus mixer with XENYX mIC pREAMPS & Compressors, British EQs 24 bit multi FX Processor and USB/Audio Interface. Thats a mouthful. I don't know much about them. And went to a yard sale bought a SoundTech wooden box look like somthing I could make a rack out of took it home opened it up and inside was Behringer FBQ 31 channel EQ. A Multicon Pro XL Audio Interactive Processor 2 channels on that. Then another with 2 that says kick and snare that someone marked. Then on bottom a Phonic MQ 3600. I have all this piled up in my bedroom, needless to say what my wife has to say about it she don't like it much. But I think if I had the speakers to go with all this I think I could give a band a run for there money. But like I was saying all I need is a simple rack to play.
Thank you for "clarifying" that 2 way speakers sound like "crap". Companies only make 2 way speakers to lower cost so they make more money. Sound quality has become secondary to profits. Great Video and content even if your camera man could use a little more experience shooting the videos. Lol
Yeah, I've never had too steady of a hand with the camera. I picked up another set of slightly larger speakers and they were also Carvin 3-way cabinets that I toss on top of some 18" subs. They are as clear as they can be. It's amazing what that extra little speaker does for the vocals.
Good video. I just got a very similar powered mixer so I’ve been checking out some things here on UA-cam. There was one part in your video that was a little confusing. Correct me if I’m wrong, but at 22:20 you said, “if it’s in stereo mode for the front speakers only”, then you went on to describe a what sounded more like a mono set-up by way of a one channel daisy chain from one speaker to another. If you were wanting stereo in the mains wouldn’t you hook one speaker up to the right/main speaker out and the other speaker up to the left/monitor out and make sure that it was selected as such (left/right) on the front of the unit? Just looking for some clarification. Thanks!
Yeah, if you want stereo, use it in the stereo Left/Right mode. That setting doesn't allow for separate monitors, but if you don't need them (like a DJ situation) then go that route for sure.
Like their FCB1010 pedal ( easier to use if you download the FB MANAGER program) can be used instead of the JOHNSON J12 pedal if you do not have the original for your Millennium 150
HOWDY! EVERYTHING hooked up to that sub mixer is an instrument cable. Since it is a non powered mixer, only instrument cables can be used (and RCA cables of course).
@@groovydjs I ask because I bought a tube head and a 4x12 from a gentleman, and he had a very similar looking Fender "speaker cable" running from the head to the cab. You'll notice on your vid at 25:07, you can see the Fender cable is substantially larger than the rest of the 1/4 cables. I bought it all as a unit, and still use the same Fender cable between the head and cab. My concern, of course, is that it isn't really a speaker cable, but it is just a regular guitar cable. I assuage my concern with the idea that the supposed Fender speaker cable is substantially thicker than a regular 1/4. Your vid fender cable is giving me worries!
Very informative. I host a showcase once a month at a brewpub and haven't spent much time with the house system which I'm sure this is the Behringer copy of. (Yamaha EMX) On the Yamaha, the monitor out in the back is for passive monitors and the monitor out in the front is for powered monitors. Does the Behringer have the same setup? Other than that, they are nearly identical.
That’s exactly what I have a PIA mixed 2000 I just need a fuse for it can you help me out please brother so I don’t have to go buy some new piece of crap that’s not going to sounds good. Thank you for your time God bless keep on rockin
On this mixer...it allows 4 ohms per channel, so...you can put 2 eight ohm cabinets (daisy chained together) on each channel. So, you can have 4 main cabinets or 2 mains and 2 monitors. Hope that helps.
It helps, thanks, I'm in the market for a small pa for my kids. One I'm looking at is 250w 2 omh min load. But it comes with 2x 8 omh speakers. I was worried that the speakers weren't compatible, but it seems the amp can drive any omhs so long as I don't exceed the 2 omh min.
This video is soooo informative. Thank you for posting it. Question tho. So I have the harbinger lp9800 which is almost identical to urs on this video…I want to know how to connect 2 main speakers, a left main and a right main…but also too, run one floor monitor out front in front of the singer. How would I connect everything if I wanted to run those three speakers like that??? That and know what setting to put it on in the front….Please if u could help. I can’t find no one to assist me and I am not a sound engineer. Thank you.
There should be a switch that lets you run the 2 amps inside as stereo or main/monitor. Choose the main/monitor option. You will see the speaker connection on back labeled MAINS, that is where you run one speaker cable to one of your main speakers and you run another speaker cable from that first main cabinet to the 2nd main cabinet. The other speaker output should be labeled MONITOR and you run a speaker cable to that (you can jump one more monitor off of that the same way you did with the mains if you wish). You will now have a separate equalizer to the mains and one to the monitors. That will get you there my friend.
Thank you so much for this amazing video. I want to but this unit but my question is. I have two passing speakers and they are 100w each. Can I use those speakers for this power mixer or obviously I need to upgrade my speakers to be ok with the wattage.
Hi I;m thinking of adding a 4x12 Marshall Cab 8 ohms to my Musysic MU-P7K 7000 Prof. Power Amp? It says 8 ohms Bridged is 500 RMS Watts The speakers are 1200 Watts ea. Is it a good IDEA?? Nick!
If the 2 “amp inputs” in the bottom right corner of the front of this mixer is important to you, I believe Yorkville makes a clone of this old powered Behringer that has them as well.
You can find these Carvin 153's really cheap now that Carvin stopped making audio gear. I have 12 of them. I use them for mains and monitors unless I need to bring in a large system for the fronts. www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/carvin-lm153-molded-15-way-main-76668876
we have one of these were set up in a room to stream a class--we do not need the pa amplifier-just the mixer. Is there a way to just shut off the pa portion. Thank you
Aussie Outlaw you can record via the white and red RCA output labelled Line Out with a 3.5mm jack which usually goes into a laptop. You can record monitor mixes via the preamp outputs or the 6.5mm jacks on the bottom right of the mixer as well. Hope that helps
I want more power for a venue , can i use a couple of them(amps) connected in line , if so , please eplain how i do the distribution of speakers and instruments between 2 or three mixer amps like this one but in line ..

Thank you, very informative. I am setting up to do small to med size venue. Good start for me
Awesome! I'm so glad that some of it will come in handy. Have a groovy gig!!!!!!!!!!!
As always a great informational video for all who need help Thanks Doctor Groovy
You can run 2 mains and 2 monitors off of these with no problem. You can buy "Y" adapters to run 2 cables out from each jack in the back.
Thanks scott. Big help.
Glad to help. Play well.
Hi mate can yo please tell me how to connect powered subwoofer to this system. I have the same system
Hi Scott,
Love your video's and have learnt a lot from them, thank you.
I am in a band ( of pensionable age) and want to improve our sound by using a sub woofer be it passive or active as you hopefully would be able to help us with.
The sub would have to suit our PA amplifier, which is a Europower PMP 2000, as the one in your video, the speakers we have at the moment are Yamaha CBR 10 which are 8 ohm and only have one Speakon input for each, my question to you is how do you wire in an either passive or active sub into the Europower, sorry to go on a bit
Regards
Kevin ( from Cyprus Europe )
My school has one of those and it sounds great!!!
26:09 Nice revolver !
Thanks Scott. I just bought a PMX 2000 here in New Zealand. Your directions are easy to follow and... friendly. Are you sure you're a real sound-man??!
I hope you got the PMP and not the PMX. Yep, I can mix with the best of them at arenas or back yard parties.
Some of the stuff Berhinger makes is actually pretty good. They're like the German version of Peavey.
PEAVY HAD THE GREATEST AMP with reverb - when it was cranked and you quit playing, it would pick up free cuban radio channels thru the amp....
thanks for this video sir , very clear explanation ,
You are most welcome.
Thanks for your in depth video
Thank you for being an excellent educator.
Hi Scott, thanks for the excellent information, just in the market now for a PA system but am on a budget.
Good info thanks
Glad it was helpful!
How would I connect in-ears to this ?
Can you ten guitar in powered mixer and ten microphone and electrical drum how many speaker do you need in this public system now.
Like their FCB1010 pedal ( easier to use if you download the FB MANAGER program) can be used instead of the JOHNSON J12 pedal if you do not have the original for your Millennium 150
just purchased online. I have 2 15" mains 2 monitors and 1 18" sub right now. will this power the sub or do I need a separate power amp.
Bear with me, at 25:07, in channel one of the sub mixer, the fender cable, is that a speaker cable, or instrument? Thanks!
How about yamaha emx7 Scott?
Trying to find non class d version of this in my country is hard.
That’s exactly what I have a PIA mixed 2000 I just need a fuse for it can you help me out please brother so I don’t have to go buy some new piece of crap that’s not going to sounds good. Thank you for your time God bless keep on rockin
Hi, great vid. A question, when you say only 2 8 omh speakers connected, do you mean they're daisy chained or per channel ?
On this mixer...it allows 4 ohms per channel, so...you can put 2 eight ohm cabinets (daisy chained together) on each channel. So, you can have 4 main cabinets or 2 mains and 2 monitors. Hope that helps.
It helps, thanks, I'm in the market for a small pa for my kids. One I'm looking at is 250w 2 omh min load. But it comes with 2x 8 omh speakers. I was worried that the speakers weren't compatible, but it seems the amp can drive any omhs so long as I don't exceed the 2 omh min.
Could I use this mixer solely for sub mixing my drum kit and running my in ears?....Great video!
Yes you can! You would run a cable out of the Preamp Out to your main mixer to get your mix to it.
@@groovydjs Thank you!
Hi your video was very helpful I have the 2000D version would you be able to say if Max 2000W MAX15 15" Inch Passive Speakers would be any good in it
can tell how to turn off auto protection of PMP2000 power mixer?
Great video. Could have used it a long time ago. Thanks!
Hi, I would certainly do a speaker upgrade. All my best.
Thank you
dude, do you have a X-79? nice guitar!
These are pretty durable units. We have a Behringer PMH880S , it has held up driving 4ohms per side for years.
THANK YOU!!!!!
Como compro este mix porfavor
Pls how do I connect this to a powered amplifier
Great vid. What is a good 3 way monitor for live vocals?
You can find these Carvin 153's really cheap now that Carvin stopped making audio gear. I have 12 of them. I use them for mains and monitors unless I need to bring in a large system for the fronts. www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/carvin-lm153-molded-15-way-main-76668876
we have one of these were set up in a room to stream a class--we do not need the pa amplifier-just the mixer. Is there a way to just shut off the pa portion. Thank you
Hi can we get 1 used
Very very helpful. Thank you 🙏
My total pleasure. I'm glad that it helped out. Stay groovy!!!
I have one of these totally love it but cannot find out how to record from it
Aussie Outlaw you can record via the white and red RCA output labelled Line Out with a 3.5mm jack which usually goes into a laptop. You can record monitor mixes via the preamp outputs or the 6.5mm jacks on the bottom right of the mixer as well. Hope that helps
This mixer have also a watts power like power amplifier? New subcriber here
I want more power for a venue , can i use a couple of them(amps) connected in line , if so , please eplain how i do the distribution of speakers and instruments between 2 or three mixer amps like this one but in line ..
