This is for me a truly amazing sound that seems to harmonize with me in every sound creating a state of pleasure seldom found elsewhere through life. Of course, being a Brit for me George Shearing can do no wrong and makes me proud in some strange way. On this occasion joined by other superheroes of mine makes this a seriously memorable occasion.

This is a rare early recording of this magnificent group (which BTW includes Cal Tjader who shortly thereafter formed a fine combo of his own). I've been an avid Shearing fan and collector ever since 1956 when I bought my first GS lp, ("The Shearing Spell", 1955). Of the 72 albums that Shearing released over the course of his amazing career I am the happy owner of 35 of them. Also, I had the opportunity and pleasure some years ago (!) of seeing and hearing him and his men in concert, at Vancouver, B.C. in 1957 and Lambertville, N.J. in 1962 - great memories, to be sure.

I landed here because of the book "On the road" by Jack Kerouac

Me too!!!!! However, the Beats were insane with no direction. Only Ginsberg (Carlo Marx) had any sanity. I'm now on page 127 where Kerouac mention's Dean's like of Rollo Grab and how Dean thinks that Rollo Grab is like George Shearing, the pianist in this You Tube upload. Read "Dharma Bums" before I started "On the Road." Read these Kerouac novels 30 years ago. Now, rereading. They are better now. Will watch movie "On the Road" when I finish.

Kerouac (thru Dean M.) says Shearing was amazing at the start of his career...then got all 'cool and commercial'.

Yes on the road by Kerouac is the reason I first became interested in Shearing from Dean Moriarty's rhapsody of this great jazzman. George probably owes Jack a few shekels for that wonderful advertisement, maybe the beginning of product placement in literature though I'm quite sure Kerouac would not have accepted one red cent for it. I'm not sure of Stephen King.

Pomyśleć, że w tamtym czasie musiałem słuchać komunistycznych, prymitywnych pieśni o Związku Sowieckim i Stalinie. Zgroza..
