Immigrants didn't steal your jobs. A greedy boss gave your job to someone he could exploit more and pay less. He holds all the chips and is laughing at you for stupidly blaming the poor, underpaid and overworked immigrant instead of him.
But if those immigrants weren't here, the employers could not have given them the jobs.

I agree with you. That's why managers and directors need to be arrested for hiring illegal immigrants. They encourage this immigration by hiring. However, the government only arrested the illegal workers and NOT MANAGERS OR DIRECTORS. By doing so this only encourages MORE hiring of illegals, not the other way around. If there is no penalty for such practices, they will keep happening. The illegal want to work, they work hard, but arresting only them does nothing to curb illegal immigration.
Right what our company does is get them in as temp workers for all our hotels many citizens who did this work promoting within and intern prep cooks are no more. We even hire legal Hispanic department heads so if you did go to school for this good luck finding a job. There's always going to be a cost to this. They staying in hotels now tax payers are paying for it. Overwhelming the whole immigrants system. It's ridiculous
Mandatory E-Verify would definitely help. Everyone agree it's the way to go, but powerful lobbying groups are preventing it from happening.

I dare this girl to deliver this line of crap to an American who has been out of work for several years and would gladly pick lettuce, clean houses and do other menial jobs to keep their homes and their families fed. I should know. I’m a teacher and lost my job at no fault of my own several years ago. I literally couldn’t find a job anywhere doing anything and I applied for jobs cleaning houses, washing windows, unloading produce trucks and was turned down because I was overeducated and it was “assumed” I wouldn’t actually want to do this menial work. Truth is is I’d have done ANYTHING to pay my bills. The idea Americans won’t do what immigrants will is completely faulty logic.
100% agree -- many occupations like landscaping, construction, service jobs, and janitorial -- many Americans have done and will do these jobs for a fair wage, but employers know they can pay much less to immigrants.

I'm a construction worker who hires to make concrete, I hired 3 undocumented workers and 2 u.s citizens, I needed them for a whole week. The 2nd day the 2 u.s citizens didn't come because they were "sick" but the 3 undocumented workers came very early in the morning to start the job.
I bet you had to pay cash for these illegal workers. I bet those workers did not report their income to the IRS.
These illegals have no SSA number so they can't pay income taxes. That is why I don't like these illegals. They don't pay taxes on their income taxes.

Illegal immigrants work hard even with cheap pay simply because they are "illegal" they can't choose jobs or demand pay, once their status changes to "legal" they would say the same thing as citizens usual does. That's life and real life.

When I moved to Texas in 1978, I worked in the blazing sun framing houses right along side Mexican crews. We would good naturedly heckle each other. I've never bought into "they do work I wouldn't do". I've worked as a technical designer, but I also worked as an oil field hand. I've designed websites and I've worked in corn fields. It's not like these guys can come up from Mexico with no English and start hitting the internet job boards. They take the work that they see and that is available to them and that their friends and relatives do. I've also been unemployed and sought the work "that they do" and got turned away because I was an anglo. It's a culture thing, very nuanced. Texas thrives on Mexican labor and legal or not, they pay billions in sales tax and other taxes.
You may be an exception, get serious, Americans will not do that type of work, for a couple of weeks, they will be collection unemployment are disability for back problems, get real, now, becouse of U.S. stupidity, the food supplies are going overseas, which give those country's more controls over prices and weather conditions, supply in demand

why don't instead of Americans meddling in foreign countries half way across the world, we address the war on drugs on our own soil? the main reason why Mexico's cartels are so rampant is because their main source of income is from the States. if we tackle this issue plus aid Mexico with defeating the cartels on their soil, then maybe they can finally bring their economy/education up without retribution or corruption, and less people will be inclined to cross over.

If employers can't make a profit by operating their business in compliance with our laws they should file for bankruptcy or move their business to another country. These legal foundations are what prevents this country from turning into the same banana republic these immigrants are fleeing from. The US does have it's own temporary foreign worker program to accomodate temporary labor shortages. The problem is these contractors and businesses want to circumvent the checks and balances of the system and the penalties for violations are so minimal that they figure it's still worth taking the risk to hire these people.

I'm an immigrant working as a Janitor, and my boss said I'm keep the building spotless, while my other former boss transferred me, and hired an Amercian; therefore, that janitor doesn't clean very good at that location I usted to work, when the inspector came to inspect, and they got 62% while at my current location got 95%.

I feel like having illegas as a hiring option, keeps companies pay low. At the turkey/chicken plants in Minnesota they hire lots of illegals. It keeps costs down because American citizens won't do those jobs for $12- $13 an hour. I worked at one of these plants and left as soon as I found a better paying job. If they would of paid me $18-$20 an hour I would of stayed, since they can hire illegals for lower wages why would they pay me more for the same work?
Yes, that's precisely the problem. Immigration (whether legal or illegal) drives down wages and makes it harder for Americans to get jobs. The winners are (1) the immigrants, and (2) the employers that can hire cheap labor rather than having to pay a Living Wage. The losers are American workers.

I've always found it so odd when people go on about how honest illegal immigrants are, when the people they are talking about are committing a crime every second.

Of course they never say illegal immigrants it's always some thing like undocumented guest worker, which I find odd. A guest is some one who is invited, and at the end of that invitation leaves. Because there are no more programs to bring uneducated workers. Now only doctors and higly trained workers migrate to the US legally. Some business need workers to do the sweat and blood, emphasis on agricultural labour.

Actually I as an Arabic doctor trying to go to US for several years now, I find it very unfair for other immigrants from all over the world to see that mexicans can achieve thier American dream very easily only by crossing the border whatever their education or work experience! Only because they are America's neighbors! But a lot of other foreign immigrants are highly educated or highly experienced workers and they suffer very much to get there!
Other than that America is the nation of immigrants mainly as we all know that the only Americans that aren't immigrants are the native Americans which are about only 5-10 % of the population! So if you hate Immigrants you must hate your self first!

Sorry to break it to you but it is not easy. They come here leave everything behind with not even a dollar in their pockets. They work in the fields, construction, clean houses, mow-lawns, etc. They do not come into America with Phds or a high education. They come here to work jobs no one is willing to do, its not easy either, they have to walk in the heat to get to the border and have a high chance of getting caught. It might seem "easy" from a foreigner who isn't Mexican but is it not easy. Working long shifts in the heat and doing a lot of lifting gets your body messed up over time. There's people who do not get paid for their work and the person gets away with it because they are afraid to go to the police because they might get deported.

Hey, I've shopped at that Home Depot! Working in construction with my dad, I know the kind of heat these guys have to go through but I was lucky because I had a stable job at that time. As much as I want to hire some of the guys when I drive in or out, I really have nothing for them to do. The best I could offer is some water every now and then.

... my son & his High School friends couldn't get a job @ ANY of the fast food places in his LA neighborhood. They didn't have cars, so it was bus, bike or skateboard ~ AKA "close to home."
The fast food workers barely spoke a word of english & my articulate son & his friends couldn't get a "1st job to gain some experience" thanks to the oceans of illegal aliens who dominate the fast food industry in SOCAL.

Your son and his friends have to be very challenged if they cannot get a fast food job. Most of the kids in my high schools have cars and jobs and most likely many kids in his high school do too. really? how many visa's have you gotten? Most of them come for poor regions, so they can't afford visas, and often can't read / write, so can't fill out the numerous forms. Even highly educated ppl can be blocked, just because a single offical had a bad day.

The process to get a work visa is long. never mind the process to becoming a legal citizen. immigrants aren't well educated as a commenter above said, they've most likely been struggling their whole life working their asses off but it doesn't pay off in Mexico unless you're a crooked politician or a drug lord, that's why they choose to come over here where they know the work they put in will equal the outcome.

Here's the take from a former worker. If there is a wage in building at $20/hr for an 8 hr day with potential to raise to $30-$40/hr after learning the trade. Now an illegal will be happy with the $20/hr and won't really complain. Even if they learn the trade they will stay at the same wage and the boss will probably give them outside work(small jobs) to justify his conscience. Rhythm in work is also thrown out the window and so are job site requirements like safety.
