    Quick question: In your hometown, do you have to wave down buses, or do they always stop if you're waiting at the bus stop? 🚌🤔 (Asking for a friend... okay, asking for us! 😅) Share your local bus etiquette below!

      Ans: buses have to stop at every stop, or drivers will be fined if passengers make complaint calls to the companies, sometimes people wave hands just to remind the drivers in case of busy traffic or out of politeness, and you'll notice some people saying thanks to drivers when they get off the bus; you can use EasyCard to take buses in Taipei and many other cities, and there are English apps which you can check the nearest bus stop and how many minutes to wait till the next bus, please share with us your experiences taking buses in Taiwan if possible, thanks 😁

    In Taipei, if you don't wave when the bus comes, the bus won't stop. You also need to press a button near you or the bus won't stop to let you down either.

    So happy your children experience all this. I was in Taiwan studying Mandarin for 9 months. Sadly, I regret not trying a cooking class there. I have been to Din Tin Fung. So happy you came to Taiwan. Able to travel the world with your family.

    To catch the bus, you need to raise your hand when it came, or else the driver will assume you are waiting for a different bus because there are always multiple routes at the bus station. Many tourists did not know it.

    In both Singapore and Taiwan, we wave the bus.
    Singapore, if you don’t wave, the bus driver will drive past too, because the assumption would be that you want to take another bus service.
    I would say in SEA, generally, we wave the bus.

    I learned it from YT videos that was the buses in Japan, they will stop every stop.
    But in Taiwan, they don’t stop every stop! You need to wave to the bus you wanna take! However, it will be a little hard to the foreigners when there comes to two buses or even more at the same time. You need to make sure the moment you wave is to the bus you wanna take.

      Hey, thanks for the tip! It was weird - there was a local lady with a walker waiting too, so we figured the bus would stop. We rode other buses fine without waving, and no locals mentioned it when we asked. But you're right, waving probably doesn't hurt! Taipei's buses are mostly great, just had bad luck that time I guess.

      Just raise your hand and look at the bus you want to take. Bus drivers will pay attention to whether all passengers at the station have the intention to take the bus. They are all experienced. Taiwan is a small country and the roads are usually narrow. So if the bus stops at every stop, it will easily cause traffic jams. So drivers will make sure every stop is necessary. If no one is getting on or off, there is no need to stop to keep traffic flowing.

    Because many buses share a dedicated road, the driver cannot confirm whether you want to take his bus if you don't wave. In addition, what Linds said about the driver honking the horn is to remind you to confirm whether you want a ride, but not every driver will do this.

      Haha, so funny. We rode a LOT of busses in Taipei and never had to wave a single one down. But the comment consensus is that we should have jumped up and down to let the driver know we wanted on. lol

    In Taiwan bus does not stop unless you wave hands. You missed to study it in advance.

  • @SL-pe5fz
    @SL-pe5fz 8 днів тому

    Because each bus stop is usually shared by many lines, people need to wave to the bus driver to signify their need to get on; otherwise, the driver would think they are there for another line and drive on!

    8:17 ctually, the name ‘Boba’ also comes from Taiwan! The origin of ‘Boba’ is a bit inappropriate for children. In Taiwan, there are two different sizes of pearls in bubble tea: the smaller ones are called 珍珠(zhēn zhū)‘pearls,’ and the larger ones are called波霸(bō bà) ‘Boba.’ The term ‘Boba’ originally referred to big breasts🫣
