Oh shoot, I totally forgot about this park. I remember before the pandemic they were building this thing, then I totally forgot about it. Sweet, thanks for the tour.
This park is truly a gem! Also, I had to subscribe. Man I really hope your channel grows tremendously! Your content and coverage are almost unmatched! Keep up the great work! Wow
Thank you so much for the kind words 😀! I completely agree with the park; even with the work that still needs to be done, it's very refreshing seeing a park branch out and try something different.
@@CivilianSatellite no problem and I 100% agree! I still have high hopes for it and would be interested in seeing what a vekoma flyer would look like there! That would be amazing!!! My home park is SFoG and Fun Spot. Hopefully you get to do a review on Arie at some point!
I would love to see the Vekoma flyer there too. I wouldn't expect anything to the level of FLY, but something to that degree would certainly make the park stand out. That's awesome, you have great proximity to some RMCs lol. Arieforce One is quite high on my to-do list next year, so I'm confident I'll get there. While I didn't quite get to your two home parks this year, the upcoming videos are actually from your neck of the woods, starting with Lake Winnie next week 😀.
Lost Island is one of those parks I am sure I will get to eventually. In a very strange way, it reminds me of a park like Jazzland or something (just saw Jeff's comments echoing that). I rode the Intamin when it was in Sweden, in the rain, so I didn't really get to enjoy the ride like I wanted to. It was fun. I just didn't remember much about the layout other than the ultra-small top-hat and inline-twist. Great video as always and thanks for including my SMPSLT gag. I had totally forgotten I suggested that. Ha ha.
I can see the Jazzland comparison based on your videos from there. Definitely hope that Lost Island can fare better than that park. That’s awesome that you’ll have a good chance of getting a reride on Kanonen. It sounds like both you and Jeff would like redemption rides. It looks like a very fun little coaster that ought to serve Lost Island very well. Lol, I felt bad for including the gag this late in the season. I had gags lined up for the pre-Europe videos and then the Euro parks had their own series of gags. But thanks again for the suggestion! 😃
Hope they can get more rides that are new and not from another park. Also hope if possible the two parks can be connected to allow for easier access to both and attract more people. Nice to see the park is still doing well and they are able to fix the log flume station
Agreed, would love to see the park invest in some fresh new attractions; but I’m glad they’re making do with what they have so far. It is quite odd having the dry and water parks so close yet so far apart. I can certainly see a shuttle system or something connect the two.
Such a massive investment! It looks awesome. My only issue is the lack of terrain elevation change. I would of spent the money and moved land to create some elevation change somewhere. It needs an icon. A giant mountain or Aztec temple with a coaster and a water flume ride intertwined. It needs something that puts it on the map! An icon!
The park is a very refreshing take on using rides and themeing to tell a unique story. I agree that an iconic landmark would do wonders for the park! There were some big expansion plans in early proposals, so hopefully those may still come to fruition. There are some path elevation changes in the earth section, mostly to accommodate the odd support structures inherited by Kanonen, but they're probably mountainous by Iowa standards lol. The water being on different levels is also pretty cool, and makes for some neat water effects throughout the park.
Could I please use the footage of Nopuku in a video ranking the best new coasters of 2022? I will be sure to give full credit. This park looks so promising and I can't wait for Matugani to open.
You are welcome to use the footage! Very excited to see Matugani open as well. The park had a rough opening year, but I’m definitely excited to see where they go from here.
I can’t help but get “Jazzland” vibes from this park - way too much concrete, and no trees!! Honestly, they should invest a healthy chunk of change into buying select mature trees to intersperse around the park. Because in 10 years, a lot of those trees still wont be large enough to provide any real shade. Add in the concrete (much cheaper in the long run, I know), and it will make for some uncomfortable days for a lot of people. It also wouldn’t hurt to line the walkways with bushes, defining the open spaces a bit more. I generally hate SLC’s, but the ONLY one I’ve enjoyed was Jaguar at Isla Magica in Seville, Spain. It also had the “bonus Helix”. Of course, we always had to shout “Bonus Helix” (like idiots) every time we rode thru it! The crooked/broken topspin you rode is a Vekoma “Waikiki Wave”. They used to have one at Kentucky Kingdom called “Quake”. Sean has a video of it. I was really intrigued by the dark ride BEFORE you said how good it was!! That animatronic in the beginning was really quite good!! Trackless vehicles? Yeah - definitely intrigued! As you pointed out - the landscaping for the water was really good looking, and well done. Though a berm separating the park (10ft hedges) from the outside world a bit would help. That airplane flippy thing - no thank you!! But, 31 flips is impressive!! I guess that means you’re really looking forward to Gozimba in Germany, next year (powered coaster, WITH the flippy planes!). Nice place, but lacking a certain amount of cohesion throughout, IMO. You’ll like Kanonen/MatuGumby (or whatever it’s called). Fun fact - believe it or not - we got 2 consecutive rollbacks on it during an ERT session. Go figure. We were all screaming “YAY” and the ride ops were thinking we were freaking out and scared. It was great! Fun little ride! Just wondering - How was the food? Did you get a chance to sample anything? As always (except the flippy plane thing), nice job Vince!
Oh yeah, despite the praise I gave the park, there's definitely a LOT that they can improve upon; the foliage and shade definitely being two areas that need attention. Lol, a lot of old school TPR has stuck with me as I was so close to yelling "bonus helix" on the coaster. I think Great Nor'Easter with it's retrack is about the only SLC I truly like, but this and a small handful of SLCs managed to make their way into the "well... I didn't hate it..." category. Volkanu really is one of the most impressive dark rides I've seen at a regional park. The way it utilizes the trackless vehicles isn't groundbreaking, but it's a very good mix of screens with physical sets, animatronics, and effects. A berm would definitely be most helpful. You certainly get reminded you are still in Iowa at various corners of the park lol. Haha! We actually drove by that park and part of me was hoping it would be open by our visit, but I'm kind of glad we didn't have to make a pit stop. It really looks like a Sky Fly combined with an SBF Visa spinner. It might just have been how I filmed it, but the park felt decently cohesive. The rides in each land did feel integrated into the land's theme, and while not having Disney's budget, the lands did transition from one another pretty well too. Again, hopefully another thing that only continues to improve with time. I'm very excited for Kanogani. Lol, that's an awesome story, but I can't help but think about how adorable that is getting a rollback on that tiny top hat. According to someone who works at Lost Island, it sounds like they've boosted the speed of the launch and intend on running it faster. Definitely can't wait to give it a ride. We ate at a ramen place at the back of the park. I remember it being decent and mostly being appreciative of having atypical theme park food offerings. Also had a park exclusive beer which was pretty good. Thanks a lot Jeff! It's definitely a park to keep an eye on this coming year.
@@expeditioncoasters Top Spins were made by several manufacturers: Huss, Mondial, Moser, Fabbri, etc… This particular model is called a “Waikiki Wave” made exclusively by Vekoma. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Spin_(ride)
7:40 So I have done Blue Tornado at Gardaland which also has a Bonus Helix, but unlike this SLC, Blue Tornado has OTSRs. Now I was able to ride it in a way where I avoided most, if not all the headbanging, and I have to say: The layout is absolutely amazing. The inversions are good, especially the double Inline twist at the end. The ride is forceful and also so much fun. I can see why Enthusiasts hate these, but I was able to see the good things in it and I was beyond impressed with this model. Thoosies will hate me but that is a Solid Top 20 worthy coaster.
Looking at my count, it appears I've been on 15 SLCs. Even with a defensive riding technique, most of them range from "barely passable" to "torture device" (I'd personally call Nopuko passable). But you're right in that the layout is inherently pretty good. I think you'd love Great Nor'Easter at Morey's Piers. After the retrack, it rides excellent. It really allows you to appreciate the compact and forceful layout without feeling like you just survived a fist fight.
Oh shoot, I totally forgot about this park. I remember before the pandemic they were building this thing, then I totally forgot about it. Sweet, thanks for the tour.

Lost Island was definitely a unique experience. I hope that the park continues to grow because it's such a cool concept.
Agreed! They're on the right path to becoming something truly special.
Same here!! Hope they keep growing and investing in new rides. Same with Adventureland.
Great video thanks
Thank you! 😀

the No Puke Oh ! ! ! ! ! rollercoaster looks really cool.
Well, I didn't spot any puke, so that's not an inaccurate nickname 🤣. As shaky as SLCs are, they really are cool looking coasters.

Their top spin is actually from moser rides (my bad if there was a misunderstanding)

That top spin is most likely manufactured by Huss or mondail.
I think it might be from Moser Rides. It looks similar to the one at Lake Winnie.
