The deterrence lights also function as white floodlights, which you can choose to leave on all the time for 24/7 color footage. If you choose to only use the lights for deterrence applications, the camera does have a 100' IR range for seeing in the dark. If you like both the white light and the IR functions, you can choose to use them both. If you use both, the IR lights will be on most of the time, but when the active deterrence features are tripped, the white light will switch on and the footage will switch to color.
