Back in 1979 I ran glass packs exhaust on my 327 / 57 Belair. My neighbor's told me when I cold started my car in the morning it shook their home windows
That is so creative. I have a FMF power core silencer that I have been trying to save but it's pretty beat and I want to keep the inlet and the end cap from the pipe and I'm going to steal your idea and create one myself thank you for this!
Thanks. I use paper masking tape, but wire or something else can also be used, because it only serves to make it easier to insert the packing material into the muffler.
I've used similar ceramic wool when personally fabbing my own mufflers. I believe it was 'FibreFrax' or something like that. Works well and usually won't blow the packing out unless it's a higher h.p. application. Stainless steel rock wool works well in conjunction with the ceramic blanketing. You wrap the perforated core with the stainless, then the blanketing on the outside which makes the wadding more resistant to blow-out. Nice looking can though. I would call it more of a 'resonator' than a glasspack though. The inside of something like a cherry bomb is definitely different.👍👍
I also worked with a solid core and I didn't notice any difference, and this way it's easier for me. When I work like this, I always cut a perforated tube 2-3mm shorter than the muffler case, to have a little tolerance for packaging

How many decibel does this lower with?
Nice build! What kind of tape did you use to wrap the ceramic wool? Thanks in advance.

So when you gonna sound test that 3" Flowmaster like muffler you made a few vids back?
Next week will be video.
where do you get the perforated sheet metal?
Veery nice my friend, how much does it cost you to make a muffler? (Material)
Thanks. This is all from waste material. I don't buy anything.
so what is the material you use for packing inside the muffler?
Ceramic wool
Hey man just found your video on the flowmaster so pay no attention to my first comment.
Esos son silenciadores, me gustaría ver un video donde hagas resonadores
Can you make a video on the vehicle running with sound
Yes, I will make a video.
@@GPGarage1 thank you

Homemade and the guy has a shop...
Hi do you know the effect of the perforations diameter to sound?
Larger diameter - Deeper sound
Smaller diameter - Sharper sound and louder
This is the simplest explanation.
@@GPGarage1 the perforations itself right? 2mm 3mm 5mm, Not the tube diameter?
@@HentaiCheaters This is for the perforation pipe, I don't know about the perforations themselves.
@@GPGarage1 the housing or the inlet pipe?

Thanks. Yes, that combination is certainly a better option, but in my case this is good. It’s definitely a resonator, not a glasspack muffler.

Great video
very nicely built great quality

Nice and easy!😊
Very nice .. but please what is the name of the white material ?
Thanks, it's ceramic wool.
@@GPGarage1 Thank you sir
I would be proud to have work like that under my rides.

Yes, cut one side and reweld.
Excellent video and gob bro. Likeeeeeeeee by Warmachine bodybuilding of garage Gym italy 🇮🇹

Why not make a solid core?

@@GPGarage1 I drilled several 3/8 holes in the core. Lost count of the holes. Lol.
That's very boring job. 😄😄
@@GPGarage1 true. But was well pleased with the sound
Most importantly, the effort paid off.
Bravissimo
