I honestly think that this is a leading cause to myself and others around me my age to being dumb and mind numbed . I was just a blob and tbh despite not having the best parents i know that video games caused many irritations in my life when i was deprived and i acted like a spoiled little brat . It’s very harsh in some peoples eyes to take away electronics but i think we all ought to take back control of the children and stop letting the world lead them astray . Parenting doesn’t mean finding something to keep them out of your hair , it means getting dirty and down right in the nasty parts of life to raise a strong woman or man .
Its not only that but its also their parents and who their around. Im 16 and i feel like im around a whole bunch of 2 year olds. Only thing i do on the screen is watch christian videos and play video games here and there
@ man i have learned rn at 19 my parents didn’t have the best parents and because they didn’t that i have to suffer the same and it’s annoying . But God has blessed me with hardship and struggling to break me away from the internet in order to read his word way more and to actually live it out in my house
Perfect timing! I’m trying hard to detox my kids, and myself, off the screens! I try to only allow them to do educational apps and watch Jesus stories and learning channels on UA-cam. But still, they become addicted and such brats once the screens are taken away. And then I struggle to get them to pay attention to homeschool homework or if I need them to do chores- the fight is then ON ☹️ I’m going to only play these things for them in the car, they can listen, but not WATCH A SCREEN 📺 😂
My granddaughter was "baby sat" with video movies, and then it went on to games. I begged her Mom (my daughter) to stop the push of electronic stimuli on her daughter. Result = diagnosis of ADHD. The solution was medication. My father made his living via TV news. As children, we were limited to one hour of TV a week. My Dad was ahead of his time - he knew something in the 1960's. Electronic input for children make their brains expect high-speed input. The world and classroom setings are not that way. Unfortunately, we give children ADHD, ADD, and other learning disorders. My Dad was right. One hour (or less) of TV, electronic games, or internet HURT our children so much!!!
I think video games and TV can inhibit SOME children but there are the rare exceptions like myself who grew up playing games since 3 years old on the original Nintendo and every console after and was top of my class every year my whole life and never studied or did hw missed months of school from moving homes and sickness and still came back and was smarter than all my classmates. I know that there are exceptions to the rule. But likely for my child I'm not gunna deprive them if what I grew up with but I will dictate which things are acceptable for them to experience for sure.i did outside research outside of school out of my own curiousity and was in after school Christian programs so I'll make sure they have the exact experience I did minus the negatives.
Take this seriously. My 18 month old gets a TOTAL of 5-6 hours a week of screen time because I understand that tv is not as important as culture says. Worldviews, fears, ideas are shaped by what you see on tv as a young person. If you truly believe in the Bible, then you understand that you shape culture for your children, so find different activities and things to engage in.
Screen time can poison parents too
Praise the Lord the father did what was right for his child.❤
Just like anything in this world it’s the quantity of usage. This goes for adults as well.

Video games and stuff are fine as long as it is in moderation.
