Preach bro!!! I really miss this hunk-o-junk to this day, and I Agree, I'm honestly shocked at how well maintained this ride was after 38 years of it's operation! I remember riding this back in 2012 and It was my first looping coaster I'd ridden which I was mildly horrified of, But, when i got back to riding it again in 2014 it "manege-d" (lol funni pun) to be one of my favourite rides at the park and it really helped me spark my love for coasters!
I know this coaster is lame in the grand scheme of things, but I'll always remember it fondly as my first ever "adult" coaster. My father, who feared inverted rides, actually braved this ride with me during a family trip when I was 11 or so. We also ended up going on Le Monstre and Le Boomerang... I went on this recently and it brought me right back. I still don't think it's that bad.
Shame they don't just refurbish this and either 1. sell it or 2. relocate it with new vekoma vest restraint trains. It may not be anything very thrilling but it's a good intermediate coaster with an two inversions and there are parks in the chain whom getting anything "new" would be better than no new coaster til 2025.
@@patxepi It was my first "turned upside down" roller coaster and it is a good ride for beginners. My point is that there can't only be super high and fast rollercoasters for the people that have never been on a rollercoaster.
@@user-zg3vq4dk2f This coaster is the first one I did and showed me that coasters are not for me. Imagine if I had only access to higher and faster coasters... it could have been dangerous for me.

Six Flags: How about removing a coaster that’s crap and replace it with an even worse one that’s a relocation from the best park in the chain? La Ronde: F%cking.....GENIUS!!!!!
It is, but it seems like an slight updated version. The Super Manege was built 10 years before the Corkscrew and was intended originally to be portable
They do. Look for Battlestar Galactica at Universal Studios Singapore. It's annoying how nearly all people stereotype Vekoma rides and automatically declare rides crappy when they find out that they're built by Vekoma.
That's incorrect, it was relocated from Boblo's Island. The other coaster that was operating at the time of the video recording was Super Wirbel at Holiday Park in Germany. It closed in 2013. Recently it was announced that Super Manege will be removed after 2019 season.
TigerRocks503 Aka: Chase I rode 2 coasters in my life (yes, I know...) this one and the monstre The supermanège is by far my favorite and when I tried it (2017) it was smooth enough so I couldn’t feel any bump if there was one
I’m glad you like it! Maybe you don’t get headbanging because your head must be over the restraints because of your height. People who are smaller in height probably are the ones who get head smashing. I’m sorry if I am happy to see this thing leave. A lot of enthusiasts including myself think it’s kinda outdated and not a good ride. Plus hate to say this but La Ronde is not a very good park. :(
No, all the ones in UK are gone now :( Alton's one was replaced by the disappointing TH13TEEN. The ride it's self is bad. Guess Alton's excuse was the 'World First Rollercoaster Freefall Drop'
There's another one in opertation, identical to this one in Beto Carrero World - Brazil, it's called Star World Mountain. It has been there since the 90's but I don't know if it was bought new or it's that one that'never been relocated.
I went to beto carrero world alot of times and the last time I went to it was 2022 also i rode test track at epcot in 2017 so i guess i wont fear the classic vekoma looper
There was indeed. Was surprised to see it gone when I arrived at Flamingo Land this summer :( Are there any Corkscrews left in the UK now? Alton Tower's one went a few years ago, Flamingo's Land this year.... hmm....
Love this ride! My friend and I went on it for the first time yesterday. She was scared, but after being on the cobra, I wasn't. Either way, both of us had fun on it!
***** Wouldn't say it was the WORST, but it did have some 'heandbanging' moments. Kinda hard to remember, since I haven't been to LaRonde since June 14th lol
RainyRainbow8 Hi, i'm super scared of going in rides unlike my friends, i'm just scared to fell nauseated after going to that ride, is it bad at that point?
Cherry Lips Hi, I didn't feel nauseous at all after riding it, and no one I knew felt terrible either. However, if you typically feel nauseous after rides that go upside down, you might feel a bit of nausea. It all just depends on the person, but generally, it's not too bad. Hope I helped :)
RainyRainbow8 Thank you! Yes u helped a lot, now i'm gonna do that ride! I mean i never got in a ride that goes upside down but that one seems to be kinda low, so thanks again i just need it another person to give an opinion!
Hmm I went on a vekoma boomerang with those new trains, I believe it was at CP, not sure. Anyway, they were definitely an improvement on the older trains, but still, boomerang, SLC's and Corkscrews do have a boring track layout
@@bridgediscovery1011 Yeah definitely seems silly in retrospect, but in the context of 1981 it makes more sense. it was the first of it's kind at the park, which made it a pretty "super" ride for the time.
Yeah, Arrow Dynamics licensed its track design to Vekoma so they can build roller coasters, but Arrow Dynamics would make the trains for a lot of their sit-down looping coasters and boomerangs in agreement of that contract, while Vekoma made the track. So Vekoma kinda modified the track design, and then that track is on a lot of their suspended looping coasters, their MK-1200s, and their boomerangs. But it's now nice to see that Vekoma is improving their craft with their new track design that is a lot smoother and provides a great ride experience now. Lech coaster was a success and now we have the Firestorm launch coaster from them soon enough. Hopefully, some American parks will pick up the new coasters from the company, cause they really are improving.
I'm kinda sad this ride was scrapped it was actually pretty smooth for a Vekoma looper. Glad I got to ride it

same here. This one was my first inverted coaster and I have very fond memories of it
The same exactly story happened to me.
Why does it look like it is going so slow? From my experience this ride goes hella fast!
Probably because you sat in the back.
64 km
I'm a real sucker for old Vekoma Corkscrew coasters. I love them! This one is supposed to be one of the smoothest of the lot, apparently.

Yep, Superwirbel at Holiday Park in Haßloch. I always thought it was kind of rough, but the new trains helped with that.
Holiday Park Hassloch had one, but it closed.
Corkscrew at Genting Highlands in Malaysia is awesome with the newer Vekoma MK1212 trains. Hopefully this ride will get those too.

the chainlift sounds so different
how do you even fail too make AN HELIX smooth
it's actually a bayerncurve (hence the name of the model) so it has a dip in the middle of the helix
