This is one of those things that can seem very hard when you are just talking about it. When you get in there and do it, it's actually pretty simple. I think of it like this. I tune the open string with the tuners, then I tune the 12th fret by adjusting the saddle. If you get the direction wrong, no harm done. just go the other way.
Nice tutorial there Matt - without all the bullshit. I know a lot of tutorials say to do all of the adjustments in the playing position, but realistically unless the necks a bit flimsy anyway, the necks under tension from the strings. I find it doesn't move much if any either way as long as the necks not resting on anything. Besides, when you've rocking out for two hours in a pub, the crowd that's half pissed won't hear it anyway. They're more worried that you haven't played "Free Bird" 😆 BTW I came across a fret leveller called a Fretmaestro. Have you had any experience with those? I'm a bit dubious of it as it relies that your fretboards actually flat to begin with. What's your thoughts?
Absolutely fantastic video , Matt !! So many ppl (including me at one time) are so intimidated by touching any of those areas , when it actually is pretty simple . Very useful information!! "Shoulda bought a Texas Toast Guitar ,not my fault" !!! LOL Great line !!! You should use that more often !!
Intonation should be adjusted last in the Setup, after neck,Nut, and action adjustments have been done. And ya can’t judge string buzz with it plucked laying flat on the bench…it should be in a playing position.
Just ordered a StewMac screwdriver set; and a digital gauge; and.... Love that Level II Challenger Matt! Beautiful top.
Thanks a million Joe you will really enjoy the tools from StewMac... I mean you know that but I just wanted to say thank you.
Matt, thanks for all this info! But holy cow, it's hard to fully understand, as a newbie! But THAT'S why I watch you!

I sometimes come up good lines and forget them too fast.
Quick and dirty how-to. Just like Sophomore year. Good info, well explained. Thanks Toast, Cheers!
Thanks so much for watching my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks Matt. Good stuff. Don't think you mentioned, but if your strings are super old, you might be wasting your time intonating the guitar.
100
great video Matt! How do I do it on a Floyd Rose?
THAT is a great idea for a video Julian. Some specialty tools and tricks.
I'll see what I can do my friend
