Seems to work great for Nintendo.
but thx to the same architecture and power as a 2015 phone, you can emulate Switch easier than ps3 from 2006
@@agamaz5650Isn't slowing down people from buying Nintendo games
Right but Nintendo stopped playing the graphics race since the OG Wii. If they we're trying to keep up with Sony and Xbox in graphics, they would be in the same boat.
Nintendo has a unique console that is portable and ACTUALLY FOCUSES on gaming.
Nintendo's games aren't that high fidelity. So it can easily do on one platform.
Please Rich. Exclusives are Nintendo’s bread and butter. As long as they keep making them, people will buy their consoles. If the rest of the industry wants to stop making exclusives, it works out better for the PC market and PC gamers. Exclusives define a generation.
MS's the only one that HAS stopped making exclusives
You can literally emulate nintendo switch on a steam deck, and play their games with better resolution and higher framerate. So why on earth would I buy a switch?

@@Codyslx What isn't illegal these days?
Corporation vision is that, they wanted to stop putting money into hardware and go full subscription while the user fork out their money to get their own hardware. They will just produce accessories which can make good profit for them.
If Xbox is gone, PSN may intro full cloud subscription based and the games are still exclusive to them (like apple TV, netflix) but hardware wise will be handled by the user/gamers.
Unless, they do what Nintendo does, making a cheaper hardware, don't focus on enhanced visual but good enough like mobile visual.
Exclusivity most definitely still works for Nintendo
That's all they got, and even then they didn't save the WiiU.
@Walt_Xander94 it didn't save Wii U...but it will save the Company

I remember reading something from several years ago that Nintendo rather go down in flames with their i.p's instead of putting them elsewhere, that's how stubborn/prideful they are.
The movie theater thing is such a dumb example because most studios would prefer to have their own theaters and keep 100% of the profits, i.e. Disney. Movie theaters used to be studio owned and had exclusive movies until the courts made that illegal.
Change "Movie Theater" to "Stream Service" and the point works.
@Hillthugsta I bring up theaters because Michael Pachter brought up theaters, and Rich agrees with him. Pachter again is so out of touch. He thinks Gamepass will dominate while movie studios struggle to make streaming services profitable.
@@HillthugstaStudios get all the profit with their own Streaming Service. Granted, there's too many of them now. But still.

Then, there is no reason for consoles and the platform holders AND the gaming industry will collapse with no return.
Exclusives is how and why a system sells.
If there ia no reason to buy YOUR console, then you don't even get the free money (loyalties) from the 3rd party games, which allow you to profit and fund your own games, therefore, you have no money and a single flop will drive you out of business!
Simple as that.
the PS5 is not a success because of their exclusives. The PS5 is a success because that's what the casual-main-stream gamers prefer to use for such games like CoD, Fortnite, Rocket League, Fifa... not a single exclusive. Sony exclusives don't sell that much anymore
No, these games can be played by casuals on any amd almost every platform. Why do they buy a PS5 and why doesn't the XBOX sell? Exactly because of the exclusives and the lack of them, respectively. It is also why the Switch completely obliterated all 4 of them in sales numbers.
Exclusives might not sell amazingly, but they are the reason as to why people choose a platform over the other. And without a platform, bye-bye to all the free money from loyalties, then bye-bye to financial leeway in game-making, then bye-bye to unique games and hello to a videogame industry crash.
I am sorry, but that's just the way it works.
Basically two things are happening #1. Sony games are on PlayStation 5 and PC now. Note PS1234 games are still console exclusives. Xbox games are on Xbox and PC and PlayStation and some Nintendo even. #2. Nintendo will never go multi platform though as there games are still very extremely exclusive to Nintendo's consoles like the Switch.
And unlike the other foolish publishers Nintendo very rarely discounts their games because they are of high quality and they know they will sell.
@@sandman8920 Yeah they usually don't sell games on there own Nintendo store, on sale until like 3 or more years after.

Console exclusives are only dead on Xbox and have been dead for years!
And they are also dying on PlayStation.
Hellblade 2, Fable, Gears 6, Perfect Dark, Avowed, Outer Worlds 2, Blade, Elder Scrolls 6, Clockwork Revolution, Everwild, Indiana Jones, State of Decay 3..... Keep it with the cope, you seem good at it.
Rich you're way too fuckin stoned in this video
here you go wrong, you got the tripla a mentality, games still can be cheap to make but companies think they have to make tripla a huge games, while indie games are doing better then ever, why older consoles were successful is because you had different kind if games from small to big but even sony doesnt want to release smaller games no it has to be a large open world game.
I’m having way more fun at the moment playing my old original Xbox than the crap they are churning out at the moment. And damn there’s so many games to choose from!

@@reviewpimpusa4100 Exactly, this is why it may end up to Xbox as well. FF ain't a Sony IP.
Let's see:
PS5 from February to April 2024 has three major exclusives.
Nintendo's entire business plan is about selling exclusives on their own platform.
PC has tons of indie exclusives.
The only platform which doesn't have exclusives is Xbox. And funnily enough, that's the most unpopular platform of the four. I wonder why... it's almost like exclusives DO matter 😮
1000000%!
Seems like Rich is running out of things to report on....
Man, Nintendo won't listen to this. Could you imagine a morally correct way to enjoy their games on PC?
Yeah.. emulation..
I don't have an issue with preservation.. because everyone sees the short term.. I play the long game baby
Other than Nintendo, I don't think we're going to see any more 'actual' exclusive game consoles.
I really doubt Nintendo will start porting their 1st party franchises to PC or other platforms; Zelda, Metroid, Mario, etc
Nintendo is still making exclusives so I don't think it's the wrong model it's just Sony and Microsoft don't seem to care about exclusives for some reason and they also don't care if their consoles will be devalued by getting rid of them.
Michael so Gocchi is dead! And I wonder if you're watching Jay's stream right now!
God this channel is lolcow central at this point..
Didn’t sound like Nicolas cage as all.
I think part of the problem is these companies forget that it is the SOFTWARE that the consumers come for, NOT the hardware. Nintendo understands that very, VERY well, and it's why this model still works for them. They have so many amazing titles that they handle with care, and they are ALL exclusive. They don't have to worry about he 'next' IP they need to acquire. The money comes on it's own, while Microsoft and Sony are trying to figure out where the money is at, and how to get more consumers on their platforms.
Rich tomorrow: I have ill will towards the whole gaming community, let’s get into it!
I mean...yeah. "Exclusive" anymore just means "we have it for a year before it gets a wide release."
And even if that wasn't the case, they know that PC owners can get them via emulation, no matter how hard they try to fight it (ie Nintendo). They probably figured "they're going to do it anyway. Might as well make money when they do."
It's a model only working with Nintendo.
Everything else is virtually multi-playform now. Games I want to play from Microsoft are on PC too! Even Sony you has dipped their toes in allowing their I.P. on PC like Spider-Man and God of War and much more coming.
My move to PC 10years ago was the best gaming move i made. And I can still use my controllers!
When the next Banjo game releases...I'll buy it on Steam...
Birds.
GOOD RIDDANCE!! It was never good for consumers. Less exclusivity = more people enjoying the games, particularly if there’s cross play for consoles & PC.
They helped drive competition and made each system stand out. Without exclusives, what are the current PlayStation and Xbox? Just limited PCs. And without exclusives, it makes the consoles feel worthless, like what is the point? Why buy an Xbox? It does nothing a PC can't do better. The PC gets the same games day 1, it also has Game Pass. So, what's the point of an Xbox? And the same for PlayStation, if their games start coming to PC day and date.
Nintendo's still around because of their exclusives. If it wasn't for their exclusives and handhelds, they probably wouldn't be around today. And look at sales numbers for the Switch, most of the games that sell as their exclusives.
By taking the exclusives away, it defeats the point of owning a console. Exclusives define a console, give it character and offer something you can't get anywhere else.
@@ranpan6082 nah G. Even if consoles were simply “limited PC’s” (of course they are), people aren’t going to shell out 2-3K or even a grand on a computer to play video games. Consoles serve the function of price point and convenience, not hardware superiority.
PC certainly doesn’t get all the games day 1. Y’all had to wait for God of War, Red Dead Redemption, horizon zero dawn, Halo, gears of war, etc. consoles had to wait for Doom, Baldurs gate, X Com, Sid meiers civilization, etc. This is okay for publishers since they can double dip for profit, but bad for people who want to play games on a game exclusively designed for one console.
Your right in that Nintendo is still around by refusing to license their IP’s outside of Nintendo hardware, but that doesn’t mean I enjoy having to purchase a 3DS, a Switch and whatever’s coming after the Switch just to play video games designed for children.
People don’t buy consoles because they like consoles, they buy consoles to play games alone and with their friends🤷♂️
@@Ichabod_Jericho PC gaming can be costly, but there are means to get an affordable rig that can play current games at decent settings. They don't really. $500 for a console? And it's almost been four years, and these systems are still the same price. Remember when consoles used to be in the $150-250 range? Sony was criticized for the PS3's insane launch price back in 2006, and people weren't happy with the Xbox One's launch price. They aren't convenient anymore. Consoles used to be, pop the disc in and start playing. Now that's no longer the case, at least for Sony and Microsoft's consoles.
It does with Microsoft with Play Anywhere, and mark my words, Sony will follow suit, having their games release day and date on the PC.
But even if you don't care for Nintendo's exclusives, you can't deny they have a winning formula. And it's still proven to work for them. And Nintendo has something Sony and Microsoft really can't replicate. You won't see games, like WarioWare, or Wii Sports, or that fitness game on Switch Ring Fit Adventure on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Remember how the Wii set the world on fire? You had Sony and Microsoft rushing to copy them with less than perfect results.
You are right, people buy consoles to play games. Exclusives offer an incentive, you look at all three systems, and see which will give you the most bang for your buck. I can buy a Switch to play Nintendo's exclusives and buy a PS5 to play third party games, plus Sony's own exclusives.
Putting your games on more consoles, in reality just means your company will have less hits! There's a lot of MEH games people only buy, because they want to purchase a lot of games for the system, to make the system justifiable. Without high console sales, 3rd parties won't even bother to put their games onto your system!

There used to be a big difference between each console and consoles and pc. Now the lines are more blurry. It’s nice to play anywhere but less risks are taken.
Oh look it's Pachter! Whatever happened to him? Haven't heard of him since 2013 😂
Yeah exclusive games aren't going anywhere. That has been nintendo and sonys big selling point for a long time. Those really damn good exclusives
Although sonys model in this regard is overall better, Porting them to PC a few years after they come out exclusive to their console
What happened to your monitors?
So basically, Micheal Pachter confirmed that sony and Microsoft are legitimately 3rd party companies now.
I can see this happening with AAA games easily. But for AA games and Indie titles, not so much. Those aren’t as expensive and can easily be console exclusive and make a fair amount of money. That I feel is the future I see.
Like, I'm talking a level of desperation where they actually make a new fzero or wave race
Rich is dead from eating too much fried chicken!
idk why they make games so expensive, cant people just be more humble with smaller games with 6-7th gen graphics and call it a day? At the end the games could be better and run at solid framerates, but realistic graphics and open worlds sadly sell, which kills art imo
Sony and Microsoft could still make many console exclusives. Instead of spending so much money on AAA games. They should make or fund shorter, smaller old style indie games and AA games. I don't know why the gaming industry doesn't understand this. Platinum games and 3D Realms are great examples of companies who regularly produce quality and variety. While their games my not be the most popular, games they are still notable exclusives to consider when buying a new platform.
I don't ever think we will see Mario or Zelda on a platform other than Nintendo.
Slow news day it seems.
I think exclusives on xbox and playstation are a dying medium now. It just doesnt work anymore and isnt profitable as much as it use to be. But nintendo still seems to make it work. Mainly cause as much as their tryna not be this way, their a kids company. Games for families and kids to play and what better company to rep that than nintendo. Their exclusives are mostly kid friendly and i think thats why that still works. Having mario and link and samus on pc and other platforms means nintendo doesnt make the money their making anymore and they dont need to do that anyway
Coleco published Donkey Kong and Jr on Atari 2600. M Network did the same for Mattel’s Intelivision.
Good bout time u get the message people like me been saying all along, exclusives are dying off, live service is what the majority of gamers want these days & xbox/Playstation will be around tho different than what we're used to here. The only reason to buy a xbox, Playstation, pc, switch nowadays is your library of games & most importantly your friends where they go the most as well whatsoever
Okay Zoomer
I did not think the day would come that console exclusives are obsolete, but now I am starting to see that happening myself. It was fascinating while it lasted.
The thing about exclusives is that they are viewed as a marketing expense, so they usually prioritize quality with them over profitability. And it's marketing with the potential to directly pay itself off. That's why some of the best games ever are usually exclusives.
Sadly due to high fidelity graphics, the cost of AAA games has risen to hundreds of millions and one console can't sell enough units. The marketing in the form of exclusive games became too expensive it seems.
“I want shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid more to work less and I’m not kidding".
@@shinkansenhype8694 Absolutely true.
I want 10-20 hour games with 2005-2009 graphical fidelity(but with modern technology) that focus on gameplay, mechanics, level design, world design and enemy/obstacle/objective design.
To clarify what I mean by modern technology: Just newer rendering techniques that don't require any extra work from the developer, basically the way modern engines render 3D graphics compared to older ones, better lighting, surfaces, etc.
AAA games should cost 5-25 million dollars to develop, not 100 million to 2 billion...
@@badass6300 Agreed. I was just quoting what and internet meme said. But the Quote is true. Games like you said don't need to cost 100 to 2 billion dollars each and every time and dont need to be 60+ hours for the most part.

are you back on twitter yet?
Not to take anything from Mr. Pachter's prediction, because I personally like him as a person, but it's not that difficult to see the trajectory of things. Given enough time, eventually the videogame industry will be owned by one giant company and gaming will be a single un-recognizable live-service blob that is free-to-play, but not free to play. If you know what I mean.
so is your channel
If not for Fire Emblem Three Houses & Civ 6 I probably wouldn’t have gotten a Switch.. I remember the latter was announced for PSX literally the next day after I got one
With movie theaters, exclusivity still applies. It's still the studios directly competing, the movies happen to release to all theaters and folks choose what to go see. Exclusive or not, either can work, the issue is that the games that are releasing are terrible and not making enough money. Minecraft going multiplatform was for dominance, Indiana Jones going multiplatform is out of desperation.
4:15 I added a RTX 3060 to my Minisforum 🙂😎
Microsoft are dropping exclusivity because the Xbox division isn't profitable. Sony are releasing some games for PC with a significant delay as a means of advertising their consoles and because beyond games, Sony are bleeding money.
I don't see exclusives going anywhere. Yes, games cost more to make, but high-profile exclusives always sell well.
Pachter says these things because his job is to give advice to people who don't understand games and instead of explaining that mobile isn't a smart investment and consoles are the best way to make reliable money, he gives clients advice he won't have to argue over.
Sony made a 87 billion dollar profit last year I wish I was bleeding money like that.
Exclusives isn’t going anywhere.
He's right but.. it's not like you have to go out of the way - wayyyyy away, like 100 miles give or take - just to play Smash or Kirby.
Good. Why would I want to have to spend twice as much on systems because of exclusives? I want to pick my system and have access to all games.
I'm pretty sure Nintendo disagrees, exclusives are alive and well
Suits me. I'd rather play everything on my PC anyway. Saves me an assload of money.
Exclusivity still works, its just that they need to put effort on doing good exclusive games😂. Also rich is forgetting that the point of exclusive is to literally be able to sell the specific device the company want you to buy. Why would someone buy a switch it the games were available on other platforms?.

Rich of Review Tech is a man..
I would love exclusivity to die, I think it’s better for gamers if it does. That being said I can’t see it happening as console exclusivity does draw people in. I am almost exclusively a PC gamer but my favourite franchise is Final Fantasy, as such I am not prepared to wait 2-3 years for them to port it to PC, so I went about bought a PS5 just before FF16 launched and my only two games on the system are FF16 and FF7 rebirth. So as much as I hate the practice, it’s hard to deny it works
you don't see Netflix limit its streaming service to just one hardware platform, that business model is obsolete, it's time to move on for video games too
Except for Mario, Pokemon, Zelda etc. those exclusives are what keep Nintendo going.
Forget gamepass; I want to see the next Mario game on Steam!
Good. They benefit no one but the ego of the babies that like to say their box is better, and the companies themselves.
PS/Xbox exclusives haven't been a thing for thig for the almost 10y. They release exclusively in the movie theaters, I mean consoles and a year or 2 later they release on their streaming platorms, I mean PC. They realized they can double deep and still retain people. I highly doubt they'll do that at the beginning of the generation though, otherwise people won't buy the consoles
True to that .. most of them Sony or Microsoft exclusives are available on pc
Meanwhile Nintendo refuses to let any of its first party games on other systems.
