Have you ever worked in Fintech?
Yep. Worked for a fintech unicorn that was doing amazing things and I left for FAANG. Reason? I got bored. I wasn’t learning anything. 🤷🏾♀️
@@chanelf.4934 haha which one was it?
😂😂 I'm at fintech right now. Month 3
@@blkwomenread dm me where you’re at
@@TechTualChatter The bottom tier of FAANG imo. AWS.
Had a similar fintech experience even as a sr director. They had no succession plan. Told me to wait forever to actually start doing my job. I tried to build a program and the answer was "we can guarantee any ones peogram is staying"
I left after 5 months. I jumped into my current role and its been pitch dark to bright morning difference. I did more in 1 month than i think i ever would have in a year at that place.
I work at GS competitor, a well-known investment bank. I am black and has been there 22 years. My current job is why I am in college for cybersecurity now. When I heard you were at Goldman, I was like: "Oh no. He about to go through all the bullshit I been going through." I'm glad you are out before they wasted any more of your time.
Yeah I don’t care anything about a name. These companies are paying too dollar for experience now
I currently work in fintech. Find a company that takes care of you. It makes sense to leave if they don't care about you.
💯💯💯
Thanks for sharing bro! Gotta do what you gotta do!
Yep. I’ll be reaching out soon to book you on the show too
I feel you on the co-workers part. i get a shady feeling from my co-workers too, some wont even look me in the eyes lol. My manager doesnt do one on ones too yet goes and speaks with folks who arent assigned to him as a mentor. The last straw was when he came to our side of the office and said good morning to everyone but me lol. Yes, im one of 2 blacks that work there and now im looking for somewhere else.
Wow that’s crazy!!
Back in 2012 I was a contractor at G.S doing I.T support trading floor support. Had an encounter with a rude ass end user embarrassed me Infront of everyone. She said "if I had a college degree I would know the answer to that question".I quit the following day. That place was toxic as hell GS J.C
Wow that’s insane!
Great stuff!! So glad you left that behind, in this field if you’re not always challenged you’re falling behind. I have a feeling your new role is going to be a lot more fun.
I agree!! Thanks for watching
Congrats on moving to something better. I feel you on the lack of documentation. I'm in fintech as well and the documentation is super lacking. Working hard to change that though.
Dang so it’s not just my experience huh
Great video! Congratulations on the new gig! I worked in fintech for a brief time… not going back 😅
😂😂😂😂
I’m going to see what this second time is like man 😅
Congrats on 4K!
Thanks bro!!
Is this the Dallas office?
Plead the 5th
When you were checked out, did you start losing motivation to be at work? Did you find tough staying motivated to even study outside of work? It is tough when you don’t feel valued to put in 100% effort because you have difficulty seeing the fruits of your labor. I’m with you. Glad you changed jobs. Good luck!
I lost a lot of motivation once I checked out. I was only at work just so I could continue to feed the family but I was really hating working for them
Sounds like typical Fintech
🤣🤣
I never would of thought a fintech company would be like this?
It be like that sometimes but other people have a better experience than me
@@TechTualChatter man you had me rolling when you said you spinned the block, great content. And yeah that’s with most things in life. I love what you doing bro. Keep going
@@jahzeeljohnson7739 appreciate it 💪🏽
Congrats on the new role!! Your content never miss.
Thank you 💪🏽
Congratulations on the new job offer Henry 🎉
Thank you ❤️
What’s your job title now?
Aye I’m kinda in the same boat on the developer side. I guess now its time for me to spin the block myself. Thanks for the insight bruh.
Gotta look out for yourself and you’re welcome
“One thing about black people. We gone be black “. LMAO. YEP
Big facts
Did you leave them with documentation for whoever comes after?
I attempted too
what do u think about starting a career with a government job
I was a contractor for the government for 2 years of my career but that’s not the same as being a gs level employee
This sounds EXACTLY like what I'm going through.
Gotta move it this crap will wear you out!!
Man the part about not getting not getting incidents kinds hit home. I think I mentioned to you...I've been constantly closing false positives and sending up turning request. The vaccine stuff is bullshit I got the two shot and said it's done even on my reserve military side they say 2 shots cool. If I didn't need them for my job I wouldn't have gotten them. Ironically, my job pushed the shot so I said cool I'll get them .."can't mess up the money over pride" fast forward to now I never got asked for my vaccine card...smh
🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ man a whole mess. Like I said learn what you can and dip
Just some advice don't mention the companies by name. You might leave your current company one day and lose out on an opportunity because of name dropping. A future employer could get reservations about you concerning negative publicity. Tell your friends all the real details but not the supposed world.
I weighed my options but I see where you coming from
damn I heard Fintech can be wild😅
It’s giving “wasting my time” 😂
Dude I hated the financial sector. I don’t blame you for dipping
I’m trying it out one more time but at a different company that’s gotten better reviews from everyone.
🔥
Fintech companies being going overboard lmaooo
On meeeeeee
🔥🔥
