Excess food is not wasted in the hotel where my husband used to work Pre-pandemic. Excess food is given to hotel staff who enjoy this free meal on top of their regular meals :)
I expected to be offended, as a former night manager in charge of the breakfast in the morning. I was not offended by this at all. Just makes me hungry, LOL I started cooking and setting it up at 4 am to be ready at 6 am. If I knew crews were coming through early, I would have it ready early. The hotel chain had certain rules, like vegetarian option, 3 proteins, 4 baked goods, 4 hot items, 3 fresh items. 3 dairy, It was only 52 rooms, but we were always booked, so it was a lot. What the owner chose for all of those options was up to his discretion. The egg patties come frozen. The boiled eggs came from Costco already peeled, etc. we were not allowed to change anything. I would pick up donuts or some cherry strudel every once in a while for extra if the owner was at one of his other places. I loved opening up the breakfast room to guests. Best part of my shift.
Hotels should consider for lack of a better term, "sponsoring " a homeless shelter and give whatever useable/consumable foods left over from the buffets to them. It's a win-win situation : the food goes to feed hungry people and I would think, that the hotel would be able to use this as a tax write off.
Can't do that because of legal liability. Anyone gets sick and it's a big lawsuit. That's why nobody gives food away. Good example of well meaning laws doing more harm than good.
I used to be the night manager at a hotel ( not a big cool kind that have all of this awesome looking food)!but I was in charge of setting up the breakfast. There were several people that would come in and eat breakfast that were not staying in the hotel. As long as they were done before the day manager got there, they had my blessings to eat a breakfast along with my guests. They were always very polite and thankful, and certainly did not leave messes the way the guests did. Just sayin’. They never argued that the breakfast time was too short, they just got there on time and filled their bellies and watched the news. I looked forward to seeing them, made sure they were alright. At least for that one meal.
Whenever I stay in a hotel, I always make sure to wake up a few minutes before the buffet opens, around 6 or 7 am so I'm the first one there and the food tastes fresh
I go early when it's opening, grab food, throw it in the hotel microwave and go right back to sleep if I'm staying multiple days lol. Don't gotta worry about people being nasty with the food when you've seen everything be brought out and what has happened to the food since it's been out! Edit: Take down the tray that comes under the coffee setup in your room to make carrying your food back easier. I don't like eating in front of people idk unless I'm with friends/ family so this made it perfect!
I certainly Learned a lot about hotels and the way they run, working in the service industry for a couple weekends, give or take 10 years. It helps me figure out how to get the best experience I can get on that trip. There are ways you can do that. Legally.
This was years ago, but one of the best breakfast buffets I ever had was at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Indonesia. A wide selection of food, Western and Asian, including hand made sausages, plus a variety of cheesecakes, mousses, and black forest cake. I used to go there just to eat on weekends even when not staying at the hotel.
If you're staying at a Grand Hyatt hotel, room service can't come close to one of their elaborate breakfast buffets ... Several stations of different foods, every station has a food preparation employee with all the foods covered in silver trays, only those employees serve you from each station, 50 different kinds of hot foods and pastries to choose from, orange juice and champagne mimosas served unlimited ... Sorry, but room service doesn't stand a chance 😝

That is fantastic 👏

@@GeraldM_inNC or its just the fact that the hotels couldn't care less about it. Many businesses pour bleach on the food in the dumpsters.
@@Queen_of_Hearts-Sharnell wow, what a beautiful experience. Thank you so much for sharing!
@@Queen_of_Hearts-Sharnell so , how did you recognize people, who did stay in hotel and who didnt?
I judge breakfast buffet quality depending on how good the eggs are
Same
A chef making to order eggs/ omelets is best!
Mines was super buttery
Hotel breakfast is pleasure of traveling 😆
When young buffet = give me a little of everything
Now = give me a little of what I like
As long as I see bacon at hotel buffets, I’ll pick off the other items including the spongy omelette.
My family had a weeks worth of hotel breakfast last week in Maine.
I've worked in hotels for over 20 years and I've never seen powdered eggs used. However I have seen liquid eggs used from time to time.
I saw powdered eggs on camping trips, but never in a hotel.

In Las Vegas, where I live, the hotel coffee shops serve breakfast after 10 am

Guess I'm just a peon. If the hotels I stay at give a breakfast at all, it's pretty darn poor: lousy coffee, poor quality bread and rolls, etc.

I love breakfast buffets I eat until I'm full and that's a lot of food for a high metabolism I wish I could eat even more
Thank You For sharing this Video
There's nothing, like "crispy" 🥓🥓!!
Here in America, you don't have to worry about breakfast buffets anymore because of the Covid-19 pandemic!!!
I love buffer breakfasts because I have an appetite, I dont think the average person have much breakfast appetite.
Hotel Breakfast Buffets Are So Damn Good.
I refuse to eat at any buffet
Yum

So was the buffet price not included in the hotel stay price? That always pisses me off.
I'm glad to be living in a western country
Buffets have some great food, but things are different know.
😊I prefer room service 🤷♀️
