I did some horse logging in college (it's kind of an unusual college), and loved every minute of it. If I could afford it, I'd buy a team and be a horse logger for the rest of my days. Nice video.
many of these draft breeds take about 2 bales of hay each per day depending on the horse. also check your local area many places have a rule of 5 acers for the first horse and 1 acer for each after that. but check with your local area (USA) hay prices very based on location and type of hay. and then of corse there is grain, vet, ferrior (gets expensive with large breeds) and coggins testes, shots, ect. so it take salot to keep one. but we lovem
I have worked in the woods with single horse it is so fun. U could double ur prodution if u worked them single with the size of the wood u r pulling. If u get a bigger log then just put rolls under it
@DirtyLarkin You are right! Fantastic. But it is not just America. We do it here as well everywhere in Europe. Again, because it is much better for the environment as well. And because the heavy Horse get´s its place back in transport and agriculture more and more. And with all respect: the horse was our partner thousend years before it was the partner of the cowboy ;-)

Fantastic! I really enjoyed it. I own a percheron that I rarely interact with. I would love to use him to skid some logs.
