I Ran 5K Every Day For 30 Days as a Beginner - Here's What Happened

  • Last month I was looking for a challenge, and I decided to start running everyday for 30 days as a total beginner.
Why? Because I’ve always thought that running is very hard both physically and mentally.
And if you're wondering why 5k, well 1k was too little and 10k was too much and I thought 5k is perfect for a beginner like me.
In this video I documented the progress I made in 30 days and I tried to show the benefits of running but also the difficulties that I faced when taking up running everyday for 30 days challenge and making it part of my routine.
I saved all the results with the help of the Nike Run Club App.
Every time you wake up and go out running you win a battle with yourself.
You learn to be disciplined and you form habits that can help you in your daily life.
So, if you are thinking to start running, my advice is, just go out and run.

Running is high impact sport so always be careful if you start running as exercise. Running also a patient sport so always be patient when start running, start slow never immediately run fast, even you have start with fast walking if you never have running exercise before. Start with fast walking regularly then mix fast walking with slow running. In time reduce the walking and increase the running. Then after getting better in run you can running without walking or even stop longer than before

Running has truly changed my life. I went from being in terrible shape, hated running and everything about it. I changed my mindset and stopped comparing myself to anyone else - and I just ran. I fell in love with the feeling and became more and more motivated each day. Here I am today, 20 years old, ran 9 half marathons and couldn't be happier that I discovered the love of running. Your video is truly inspiring and I'm sure you're motivating tons of people to get started! Great job.

After a 20 year hiatus I started running again at 58. The first 3 - 4 months were torture. But I stuck to it and got fitter and fitter. Three years later I am now 12 kilograms lighter than when I started and I'm training for my second 100 kilometre ultramarathon. In my first 100km I was passed in the last 5kms by a seventy year old! You are dead right: running is mostly mental. Remember: nothing grows in the comfort zone and positive thinking leads to positive outcomes.

Great job, I'm 41 going on 42 in about 2 weeks. Two years ago I was over 300 pounds and back in February of this year I started running for the first time in my entire life. At the lowest point I was over 400 pounds but I want on a weight loss Journey which completely changed my life
I'm currently training to do a 10K in September and I've done at least a 5K race 7 times so far this year. It's crazy because I've grown to love running and I do at least a 5K Everyday. Some days are definitely harder than others.

I completed my final day race in 48 mins. But few days after that I started feeling pain in both of my knees. After seeing several doctors and physiotherapist it won't helped.'I realised should have started slow and steady. And now after two years of that I am still with the same pain.what should I do now? Unfortunately for me, I may have injured or maybe just had a minor sprain on my Achilles heel from a onewheel accident yesterday and so I'm probably needing a day's rest. 2. Were you running on soft surfaces or you picked hard ones like roads or tracks etc? Or you weren’t bothered either way.

    • @AlexThunderVideo

      Hi! Thanks for asking!
      1. I ran continuously without taking a break except 2 or 3 times when I stopped to film the landscape because I couldn't miss it.
      2. I didn't care where I ran, I ran on the trails, I ran on the road, gravel, dirt, where I could :)).

For people who truly are beginners, your running days will soon be over if you attempt this distance / pace increase in 30 days. Start slowly, with shorter distances and avoid injuries. If you’ve never run, then your knees and ligaments will need time to adjust. Even the most expensive running shoes cannot mitigate all of the joint impact that you’ll be subjected too. You can run through cramps etc but if you feel knee pain, take a break! Do that and enjoy your progress and all of the rewards that come with running!

I run from last 7 years and have been on a 4/5 days a week run but after watching this video, I ran for 30 days and that includes running last 5 days while I was fasting (in Navaratri)- it boosts your inner strength if nothing else.

How do you guys run without resting, i jogg for around 30 min, but after every 5 minutes i have to walk for 2-3 minutes to get the energy to jogg for another 5 minutes. How do you do it that you run non stop for 5k (30 min)

At least you’re stating real times. I seen videos of people really out of shape showing fast times which I know is not true for bigger runners.

Running 5k immediately as a beginner for a few consecutive days would result in shin splints which is very troublesome. Beginners should increase the pace, intensity and distance gradually to avoid this.

Great vid but only one question : How did you manage to get the timer right while you needed to put the camera to film yourself ?

    • @AlexThunderVideo
      @AlexThunderVideo  3 роки тому +6

Thanks for asking! In most cases I filmed after finishing the 5 kilometers of running, and several times I paused for a maximum of 1 minute to be able to capture the shots.
You have to keep in mind that I am alone and I have no one to help me with the filming. It's just me and my phone :)
