I feel like women have held power all throughout history, it's just not always in the spotlight. For example the impact that mothers have on their sons before (and often after) they become Emperors, generals, etc shouldn't be underrated.
I'm just finishing The Plantagenets by Dan Jones, next I'm gonna read Athelstan by Tom Holland from the Penguin Monarch Series to get a bit of a respite from such a long book ( The Plantagenets is like 600 pages) and next I'm definitely reading this.
This makes me mad that I have to suffer Hollywood dawning on comics and less than 20-year-old movies and shows and put out total garbage while histories and stories aren't being told or drawn upon. The History of Byzantium podcast brought me here.
Melisende was a force of nature and deserves much more scholarship. Her policies stabilized the kingdom during her regency for Baldwin III and lasted through the final years of the kingdom.
Why don't they put subtitles in Spanish and other languages? The channel is so good that it would be watched by people who don't know English all over the world.
