Ethan has had a strange underreaction to injuries since RE7. He got his hand cut off with a chainsaw, mouth assaulted with a kitchen knife, leg amputated at the shin with a shovel, and a host of other terrible injuries. Each time he reacts like he got a papercut.
In Resident Evil Village, Ethan Winters is revealed to be a mutant with a body made of mold. So he has the ability to survive any injury that would kill a normal human in five minutes (up to a certain point, he does die at the end of the game from a village wide explosion). Its also why he can reattach his right hand (he got his left one sawed off at the start of RE 7 and it was stappled back on by Zoe). Also the green bottle is a Fire Aid Med. No. Boyo comes in, turns off the lights, has a thick needle and tells me to stare at the black spot directly over his shoulder and "do. not. blink. do not move." Legit memories of THIS dead space scene popped into my head as the long needle came closer and closer to my eye. "Man's gonna dead space me. oh no. i hope i dont get the bad cutscene." I think the fear froze me in place to be honest X'D which benefitted me in that situation ultimately i guess lol. most stressful series of tests of i've gone through. The pressure test wasnt just the simple air puff thing either. that was wildly horrifying too. all in vain by the way!! which made it that much worse lmao "you mean i went through all that and you found nothing. *weeps*"
I wish the team would first let Mike watch videos he's reacting to naturally, without providing additional context (as they do now), but then give him the context (like Mortal combat's robocop not having a natural trachea or Ethan Winters being infected with a regenerative fungus), and have Mike react to that context _too_ . Would feel more thorough this way.
Playing Deas Space 2 gave nightmares with the eye poke part. Gruesome and awesome at the same time. Honestly not even the fatalities give me chills like that.

8:37 - Another fun fact about using morphine for end of life care for air hunger (dyspnea), back before the 1900's the only treatment we really had for asthma was to use morphine or opium to reduce the discomfort of not being able to breathe. That's the only asthma symptom the doctors could treat back then. Luckily, In the early 1900's adrenaline started to be used to treat asthma as well. Theophylline started to be used in the early 1920's. So, now we have a drug to reduce the frequency of attacks, and adrenaline could be used to rescue someone from an attack. A weird, but effective treatment was also used for asthma starting in 1903, which was to make a *cigarette* (for asthma lmao) using Jimsonweed and henbane which contain belladonna alkaloids (atropine, scopolamine, hyoscamine) which can open up airways as well. Side effects include incredibly frightening realistic hallucinations lasting days. This stuff was available in pharmacies until the 1950's when the first metered dose adrenaline/isoprenaline inhalers came out, they were an easy to use and effective rescue medication that can be carried in a pocket. No need for weird herby trippy cigarettes any more.
Dr. Mike: That’s a problem. That’s a career ending fatality. Me who has been binge watching Dr. Mike’s videos for the past week: Yep, I think so too. 😂
Dr. Mike is so nice in trying to explain video game logic and especially how Ethan heals in ResidentEvil Village. But someone should explain to him that Ethan has the mold and has healing abilities. Well he doesn't just have mold in the body but The Mold. The Mold in this ResidentEvil is a superorganism used to create a Bioweapon. 😁
It would be cool if you reacted to the Last Of Us Part 2 death compilation. There’s a lot of cool things you could breakdown there. Great content as always!
If you play the second game (Resident Evil VIII), there's actually a good (fictional) reason to why Ethan is able to heal himself so easily and why he's so resilient.
I would love to see Doctor Mike react to The Quarry, especially to (how do I describe this without spoilers?) what Papa Hacket does when Laura wins the shotgun wrestling with Mama Hacket
Just the other day I was playing Resident Evil 8 and thought about you making a video reacting to Ethan's injuries. Literally less than a week later, you make this. So either I mentally manifested this or Dr Mike somehow reads minds. Honestly you could probably make a whole video of Resident Evil injuries. I would be very pleased if you did. Resident Evil 7 is chock-full of moments you could react to.
I'm honestly impressed that he listens to four or five seconds of Arthur coughing in Red Dead Redemption 2 and immediately goes "Yeah, that sounds like Tuberculosis". Evidently, the voice recording team really did their homework!
You should see if Aeris's death in final Fantasy VII is actually realistic. There are also some other injuries you could review in there. Such as Cloud being stabbed by Sephiroth, I think he falls of a cliff, Cloud give CPR, and many other. There are lot of injury and or medical scenes in that game, it would be interesting to how accurate they are.
7:43 the reason why he can do that is because after the events of resident evil seven jack baker killed him by stomping on his head and gave him molded powers, molded people can regenerate almost instantally, but since ethan wasnt a full mold he couldn't regenerate instantally so he used first aid med bottles to regenerate really fast. also when lady D cuts off you hand you can go in you inventory, look for your cut off hand and examine it and you can see the molded details in the cut.
Really thought he was gonna go into Joel being impaled and wether it’s survivable in the conditions they’re in, but instead I had to relive THAT scene… too soon lol
Hey Doctor Mike, some insight into the lore of RE8! !!!! SPOILERS!!!!!! Ethan actually is a mold being in this game, unbeknownst to him, being why he was able to withstand so many injuries and never died. Hence, the goop juice pretty much just fixing everything. This could also, theoretically, explain why he was able to hang by his palms in this game, because him being infected by y the megamycete could have given that necessary structural integrity.
You got so many of the good ones in here we stan. Like when I think of “oh that was brutal” most of those moments ended up in this video lol. Ppl always talk about the dead space one. You should do a second part to this one day! I’d love to see more :) also could do extreme injuries in movies (if u already have I apologize). But I figure you could comment on the accuracy of violent moments in movies like midsommar 😅
7:47 Uh Mike I hate to break it to you but it's not really glue or a technical potion, it was actually a super mold that can either heal you or make you transform into a Lycan It was first introduced in Resident Evil 7
The morphine information is useful & I hope true, I have heard many people think that it's used to help speed up the end of life. My best friend has cancer in her lung, liver, bones and lymph nodes, has just started treatment as it was missed back in April this year, I was with her when her mum passed from lung cancer & I'm terrified, as I know what to expect, I'm praying for a miracle

7:50 I had surgical glue used on my lower lip when I was ~1-2 years old because I fell headfirst into a big rose bush and had one of the thorns embedded FROM halfway between the chin and lower lip TO the "contact surface"(?) between my lips. From what I was told the surgeon(s) took out that thorn and glued the wound shut. I still have that light scar today >25 years later.

Legit memories of THIS dead space scene popped into my head as the long needle came closer and closer to my eye.
*weeps*"
Dead space had my eyes legitimately kind of uncomfortable
I wish the team would first let Mike watch videos he's reacting to naturally, without providing additional context (as they do now), but then give him the context (like Mortal combat's robocop not having a natural trachea or Ethan Winters being infected with a regenerative fungus), and have Mike react to that context _too_ . Would feel more thorough this way.
I would love to see mike play games like these while giving medical feedback and comments
Playing Deas Space 2 gave nightmares with the eye poke part. Gruesome and awesome at the same time. Honestly not even the fatalities give me chills like that.
You didn’t have to hit us with Joel’s death like that 😫 no pun intended
"That's not a comfortable position to be in." 😆
"He's got a few blunt-force traumas to... everywhere."
I'd like to see a skateboard injury reaction video. Some skateboard injuries from people failing tricks are brutal.
Really needed this right now, great lighthearted video from our favorite doctor!💜
Kinda want to see Dr Mike look at all the Ace Attorney injuries; would love to see his reaction to Phoenix’s injuries after getting hit by a car followed by being flung headfirst into a light post
Totally! I support this comment. Especially to test the accuracy on the way AA establishes the injuries.
one time Phoenix fell down from a cliff that high and hit his head, next he's at hospital and he's fine 😂
Apollo just casually surviving a bomb
The last of us just always makes me cry and mike was just CHILLING.
i CANT believe mike made me watch Joel die AGAIN
Loved this video! Dr. Mike needs to do a whole segment on MK fatalities!
Yes this n brutalities
Love the videos you put out. I think that you are doing a really good thing by fighting misinformation and just teaching people in general. Keep up the great work Doc
“…you must had been a heavy smoker.” Talking about a man who’s most of they’re body turned into a robotic unit for the police
You should react to the Kentucky Ballistics video of how Scott survived a .50 cal explosion in his face! It's very impressive.
Dr. Mike: That’s a problem. That’s a career ending fatality.
Me who has been binge watching Dr. Mike’s videos for the past week: Yep, I think so too. 😂
Everyone remembers that famous Robin Hood scene where he splits a bow with his own bow.
Dr. Mike, he was shot with an arrow!
Love watching you cover video game injuries. Would definitely watch you play mortuary assistant with your mortician friend.
“That’s not an ideal posture” GOT ME DYING😂😂😂
Based on the first clip, Mike's gonna be a boxing announcer someday
Mike really said “this is not good for scorpion here” after he got cut into quarters 😂
Can we have Dr Mike just be a guest shout caster to Mortal Kombat tournaments?!?!
You should do horror movie kills after your video game series! Like scream 6, texas chainsaw ect
I'd absolutely love to see Mike play some scary video games while providing constant medical commentary.
If you play the second game (Resident Evil VIII), there's actually a good (fictional) reason to why Ethan is able to heal himself so easily and why he's so resilient.
Just say 8 like a normal person
bro they need to. Create a Doctor Mike in every Video game to treat patient After injuries...😂bro knows too much
The thing is that all these injuries in RE8 actually make "sense" giving the story of RE7 and RE8.
Character: *is hung by limbs*
Dr. M: Well, that’s putting a lot of tension on the spinal column…
Character: *Literally Gets Deboned*
i need an entire series of dr mike reacting to fatalities
I would love to see Doctor Mike react to The Quarry, especially to (how do I describe this without spoilers?) what Papa Hacket does when Laura wins the shotgun wrestling with Mama Hacket
You are so beautiful ❤️❤️ I believe God really settled down creating you because you looks like an angel 😍😍
Man I wanted him to do The Last of Us part 1 where Joel gets impaled on some rebar and somehow heals
“Never seen a blackened trachea like that”😂😂😂 Robocop’s got some smoking history😂
Fun fact: RoboCop was a heavy smoker.
Tuberculous was also called consumption as it was believed to be devouring the lungs.
Dr Mike, this was such a fun video to watch. I sure hope you turn this into a series in the future. :)
WHY IS HE NOT CRINGING WATCHING ANY OF THESE IM LITERALLY IN TEARS
7:47
Uh Mike I hate to break it to you but it's not really glue or a technical potion, it was actually a super mold that can either heal you or make you transform into a Lycan
It was first introduced in Resident Evil 7
my dude saw ethan winters regrow his hand and still said the eagle leap from AC was the most ridiculous part of the whole vod. true.
I most say this You must have been the second GOD woman to be created after Eve. Apparently, GOD should have enough time to do something so magical, You look so charming, very much like a goddess.

It would be really cool to see you do a commentary on the ethics and procedures done on the first episode of the new season of The Good Doctor.
I think it's so funny how Mike says "he's going to die by bacterial infection" my God, Ethan is a bacterial infection
“She’s gonna be so constipated!” Well, she’s a 9 foot tall undead vampire so.
7:50
I had surgical glue used on my lower lip when I was ~1-2 years old because I fell headfirst into a big rose bush and had one of the thorns embedded FROM halfway between the chin and lower lip TO the "contact surface"(?) between my lips. From what I was told the surgeon(s) took out that thorn and glued the wound shut. I still have that light scar today >25 years later.
