I just finished making this for my daughter’s upcoming 4th birthday. I expanded it even further to 7 double crochet stitches so she can hopefully grow into it for a long time, and for my last 5 rows (all 7 dc) and the fin I used a different color to make it pop from the general tail. I am absolutely thrilled and so grateful to have this pattern to work with. I can’t wait for her to open it up in a few more weeks. 😁
I'm still new to crochet - will making the shell larger make the blanket larger or do I need to make the circle larger??
Incredibly cute - clearly described and photographed
Hi Jenny I have just finished this mermaid tail tutorial for an 8 year old using 2 strands of fingering bamboo yarn...it came together beautifully and one very happy little girl.😊
I just finished this and made it for my four year old. It came out perfectly. Thanks for sharing this pattern ❤

Thank you so very much for this tutorial.... very precise... 🙏
I love your Mermaid tail. I made 2 of them for my granddaughters. Only thing different I had to do was go up 1 size on my hook. I crochet tight. So to get to 35 inches long I had to go up to 63 rounds. They came out beautiful. Thanks for the tutorial and pattern.
same here and i am nervous that mine is not wide enough... might have to frog and do again or turn my mermaid tail into a storage bag for my grandaughter
any choice to buy one of this beauty???
This was so easy to follow and turned out great! I wish I could post a picture of my finished product!
You can share it at my Facebook or Instagram.

Yarn addict aka K lo Nooooooo
Thank you for this tutorial. Mine is wip😊
Hello thank you for this beautiful pattern. I want to make 1 for me and 1 for my 5 yo daughter. Can I use the yarn in this video and follow the pattern for the adult size to make the blanket for me? Cause I find this yarn thicker than the Caron cake and that’s what I want. Or will it be too large?
Do you have an adult pattern for this?
Edit: Already watched the adult version for this mermaid tail tutorial. How many skeins of Red Heart Super Saver can I use? Im also 5ft tall. Love from the Ph 💕
Can you please tell me where you found the adult pattern? Thanks in advance
oh my gosh how cute !!
Thank you for sharing ❤ I wanted to send a picture but don’t have the option
Wow. Nice job. Good as in tutorials in Cassiekoy Crochet channel.
Thankyou
Hi, so is there a way to increase a shell stitch?
Hi! I would like to make this one for a 5yo. Can you please guide me how to and where to decrease?
You can just stop when it is the length that you want. Also using a smaller hook would make the overall blanket smaller.
Очень мило. Спасибо большое 🌹
Wauw so pretty
Where does this pattern start getting bigger? Starting row 14 and I'm wondering if it will even fit my almost 10 year old like it says.
O i love this very pretty have a lovely day 😍😍😍
This is an amazing pattern thank you so much. Making this for a friends daughter after finding the perfect yarn. What would be the best way to increase the shell pattern to increase the waist circumference? Thanks again so much!
Thank you my dearest, my 2 grand daughters always want me to make them a mermaid tail, and I just found your awesome tutorial and you got a new subscriber, 🎉🎊
I have lots of rainbow and
Colorful yarns which will do justice to this beautiful pattern

Thank you again 🧜♀️🧜♀️
Gorgeous
For those that have made this. Did you end up with a “joint” line running diagonally? I’m keep wondering if I’m doing something wrong.
Yes this happened to me as well. I had to frog the whole project. I’m going to redo the join and see what happens.
I have that same "joint line"
Make that the back of your tail. It's because every row, your slip stitches and starting SC gets moved over.
I've made some I'd them. Yours is beautiful!
Thanks 🤗
Beautiful just beautiful!
Hi, Is the leg part open or not??
How do you increase the shell stitch?
Thank yoh
How many increases at the beginning to make it just right for 6-7 years old?
Thanks in advance
İt's so beautiful! How many Balls of wool you used?? For this size?
Did you watched the video? She clearly gave all informations
@@Anamaria17722 yes I Watched it and i read it later during the clarification. And have already started knitting. Thanks
How many balls of yarn is required to complete the mermaid tail please. Great video thank you x
5.5 skien
I think i'm missing something....on row 15 do we still skip only 1 stitch between shells and sc???
I wondered myself as well
I got lost after round 15...
I was confused as well so I tried it both ways. You never have any more than 14 shells a row. It doesnt matter how many increases you do. So in order to do that you have to skip more than one stitch. And you will always have to do the double crochets in the single crochet space. Row 15 is the first row you stop the “skip one stitch between shells”. Hope this helps. 🙂
I was so confused, took my work apart because I was afraid I missed something. Thank you for clearing all this up.
Thank you for the tutorial😊
I crochet a lot tighter and I need to make mine wider. Any help?
Are you still having problems with tension? I would suggest using a bigger hook.
Jenny.howwould you crochets mermaid tail blanket for an adult have a nice weekend
Hi Nancy. I do have tutorial on how to crochet adult mermaid tail. I think I uploaded that almost 2 years ago.
Am I the only one who does not understand how to go on at the first increase of the shell stitches? The increase itself is fine but where do I put the sc in the 4 stitches of the shell stitch in the following round? Because I would have to at some point skip 2 stitches. Or do I make 2sc in the shell st and then 3 in when I have the 5dc shell st? Otherwise the tail would not get bigger in size, wouldn't it? Could not find any explaination in the pattern or the video.
I'm making this now. At this stage, row 14, I had to play that section a few times and zoom in while watching to figure it out. The colour yarn she uses is hard to see the stitches too.
So, after your 14th shell in that row, slip stitch into the marker that marks the sc and the start of the row.
Then make TWO slip stitches in the next 2 stitches. (Before it was one slip stitch)
Your SC will then be done in the 3rd stitch of each 4 DC shell. I was wondering that too as SC is not in the middle of 3 stitches now.
That way you still skip one, and 4DC into prior sc space.
Hope this helps.
@@Shilo2020 Thank you so much Shilo! I freestyled it in the end because I needed to finish it quite quickly (it was for a newborn). I will definitely try again and come back to your comment because the design itself is awesome and the shell stitches are such a great visual for the project.
Thankyou so much this is lovely. Xxx q
Hope you enjoyed our nachos as well dannyboy
Just what I was looking for! ❤
Jenny..
If I make this with a size 6 yarn will it be big enough for an adult?
Probably yes. This actually fits me just nice because I’m short. Just add extra rows to make it longer.
Thank you!! I love your work!! You are so talented and your voice is lovely!!💖
Esta muy bonita pero la podrias subtitular en español.....no entiendo mucho el ingles .....gracias 😍
Hola está muy bonita..... pero no le entiendo!!! Favor de subtitular en español gracias

Has anyone tried to make this open at the top back?
Its 3 yrs later but am making this now. That's exactly what I need to do because it's for my disabled sister in a wheelchair. I want an open seam at back in the top say 11 or 12 inches. This way her lower legs are wrapped say up to back of thighs, where It can be pulled under but then it acts like a lap blanket so you don't have to lift her bottom.
Thing is, to go back and forth to leave an open seam instead of working in the round, I'm sure the shells will look different. I might have to add a separate piece.

So frustrated with all your patterns. I keep trying the different ones thinking this time it will work ... using same yarn and also upped my hook size to a K and there is no way a 10-12 year old will fit into this ????
So frustrating she doesn’t reply to questions or even on Facebook. Guess will find a different pattern to use.
Shut up she has a life!
What question could you possibly have? She gave very clear instructions on every step. You just seem to want to complain. She did a fantastic job!
