This vintage Submariner is a real treasure you got your hands on. And you are lucky you have a friend who happens to own one in that good condition. Kudos on how well you have researched the background information on this particular model. Do you have the original metal bracelet to show on part 2.
Thanks it really is a treasure and was a lot of fun to research! Unfortunately it's been lent to me without the bracelet as the owner doesn't wear it on the bracelet and keeps it in storage. So might be a little hard to get my hands on. Thanks for watching as always!
I love this reference number rolex. I believe this is the submariner Invicta based their pro diver off of. So i bought it just because i love the thinner lugs and 40mm case size.
Thanks for watching, to my knowledge it had only been serviced once (definitely due another soon) so that would've been the time they swapped out the handset, out of interest how can you tell they are service hands?
Hi there, everyone. I own one of these, I just send it out for authentication, and I got it back with a positive authentication certificate, my question to this group is that now I'm looking to buy a box for it and I found one on Ebay, the box shows the movement number as 16800/B, does anyone here knows what the B means?
I never owned a Rolex. But I do own a Ginault. My everyday 5517 Milsub Homage. Haters gonna hate, I love it. So far probably the closest I could get to a 5517. The case mimics that of the 5 digit Rolex (so 168000) and I must say that it is one of the most comfortable watches I own. To be honest. I am not willing to spend Rolex kind of money for a watch at the moment. And I have a real issue with the current Brand- and AD situation. But that's just my two cents. The 16800 and the 168000 are clearly gorgeous watches.
Production timeframe was mid-87 to 88. Not mid 88 to 89
Correct

Nice review, but the Rolex Sub 168000 debuted in 1986, with the 9. 3 million serials, not 1988.
Awesome video and congrats on 50 subs! it makes sense you're growing so fast your videos are really high quality.
Thanks your support really means a lot thanks for watching!
Great video !! such a timeless aesthetic :D them slim lugs are something to behold
Couldn't agree more!
Interesting piece. It's a shame the original hands have been replaced with service hands. Wear it in good health. Regards.

@@IBoughtAWatch The tritium lume is whiter on the service hands. It hasn't the same patina as the indices. Regards.
