I met an older guy that pours and ties his own jigs in his garage. I asked him "When and where is the best time to throw a jig?" His answer was "Yes". Best advice I've ever been given...
Sounds very familiar- decades ago I met an older man asked to see my tackle box .. he got a chuckle out of all my lures - politely told me a plastic worm is all that’s ever needed - year round - any depth etc .. it’s all he used .. I fished with him a few times after - and he truly was an amazing angler with just a plastic worm
I love that Gerald keeps things simple and stays positive. I stopped chasing tackle a few years back, choosing instead to simplify the abundant supply of quality tackle I already own, buying and replacing sparingly. Also, his lectures on attitude and staying mentally present have been invaluable both on and off the water. Whether you're a serious angler or just a weekend warrior, I highly recommend watching his videos on living with a positive mental attitude. You'll become a better angler and have more fun. Peace
Definitely a Crenshaw street accent for sure. I know my Compton dialect. He grew up fishing those inner city ghetto ponds where even the bass where blue bandanas and carry switch blades
one man's opinion: it's just like a worm only I'll shake it a little slower. also you can shake just the line and let the jig sit shaking in the same spot there for a while and that works good too. sometimes at the end of the bring up, I'll give it a hard pop, pop, lotta times they'll eat it after that when it hits the bottom. if you imagine one staring at it and you give it two hard pops before reeling down.... she's probably going to eat it. you'll see your line jump or as you reel down to start shaking again, one will be there. chigger craw trailer early in the year. Yamamoto double tail grub as the water gets warmer. 3/8 oz arky style head, preferably living rubber. brown or black and blue. happy jigging.
TexasSmoking I just did this and holy smokes. The water was muddy but the fish were going crazy. Either there were multiple bass in this one spot or the same fish tried to eat my Jig about 3 times lol
Medium heavy ugly stick 7'4 18 to 20 pd. Can't miss em! The ugly stick is still the fishing rod for me. Blue and Black skirt 3/8 oz. A little craw juice.
I usually detect my bites one of two ways. Either the bait feels like it doesn't weight anything. Or it just swims off sideways, I tighten up and set the hook. Whenever I feel the "tick-tick" it's a dink or a bream.
School of Fish. Don't worry about the knot. Just use mono or copolymer and tie a palomar knot which is very simple yet the strongest of all knots. Another tip to make your jig irresistible is using THE CHAMP CRAW for a trailer. You'll catch bigger smallies and largemouth. The claws float so it makes the jig stand upright. More bites and less misses. Peace bro
Other pros disagree about waiting to set the hook. Sometimes you have to reel in a bit of slack line because sometimes the bite is subtle. Other times yeah you can set the hook right away
I use the same not for everything. Maybe I'm just lazy (this is it) but I rarely come undone be it braid, fluro, or mono. I use the palimore knot probably spelt wrong but it is what it is always worked for me. 99.95% of the time if I lose a lure or hook its because the line snapped not the knot coming undone.
Is the line curled at the end when it breaks? If so, it broke at the knot. I don't think most people are concerned about the knot slipping out, but particularly people have issue with palomar knots on fluorocarbon breaking.
Clinton Fisher if thou do not cross the lines maintaining the alignment of the line and don't since down the square not part of the Palomar knot your flurocarbon doesn't burn itself. This requires time and attention to detail that most fisherman don't take the time to do.
for fishing a 1/4 oz jighead with a 3" curly tail grub with 12# fluoro, what is a good rod size and reel size to use for anything from panfish to catfish and salmon
May be a little light. The wire gauge on the hooks will often take a little more force to penetrate, so you may break the line or miss fish. I'll use 14lb.+ and on finesse jigs (1/4oz or smaller), I will sometimes fish 10lb.
Just double up the line like you would when tying a palomar knot, but then instead of tying the palomar knot, tie an improved clinch knot instead. You're making wraps around doubled up line.

I keep one tied on and try it at every target along the way.

Kyle Tinny I will take that advice!
"Always Fish a Jig!"...pretty sound fishing advice...especially coming from a man with such a sick beard!!!
he shaved the beard off after his performance at the classic
straight from africa

Jigs are the best rain/after rain bait. Throw em around water inlets and outlets.

Sounds like a safety briefing before deployment. Geralds the man. Great video👊
This guy is hilarious and very informative! Great video!
Gman gives great seminars.

I like a 4-6" straight worm, shaky head or drop shot. A lot of the same is true, I fish it all year and pretty much fish 2 colors (green and brown).
Same for me but almost always shaky head and I like junebug as well.
I usually detect my bites one of two ways. Either the bait feels like it doesn't weight anything. Or it just swims off sideways, I tighten up and set the hook. Whenever I feel the "tick-tick" it's a dink or a bream.
Great confidence building information here. Love your delivery and humor too. Would love a knot tutorial on this knot you mentioned.

Amen brother. Jigs are the apex. You can return at any speed. Present to any fish. Anywhere.
Same knot I Always use......double the line, run it through. 7 twists and then back through the 1st loop, pull down snug.
Other pros disagree about waiting to set the hook. Sometimes you have to reel in a bit of slack line because sometimes the bite is subtle. Other times yeah you can set the hook right away
Love this guy lol good info too. Always have atleast one jig on
Jigs are my favorite bait to use!
Jigs are the best baits for bass fishing hands down like 6:30

if you do not pay attention when tying the knot the don't use the Palomar with flurocarbon line. It will break every time at the knot.
+The Bass University I use an improved clinch knot
@@outlaw1686 Same, improved clinched is stronger then the palomar.
Thank god someone else uses a med hvy for flipping
I would too...depending on your cover. I move up to heavy for grass and xh for woods and patties
I use a heavy because my hookset isn't strong enough because I second guess it! 😅
Alright, alright, alright, i can dig it man...
Iaconelli lives rent free in many of these southern boys heads. 4:15
Thanks for the info.
pair of house slippers... lol.. jigs are great versatile lures
Marc Harmon I died at house slippers 😂😂
Is a jig a good way to find bass that are deep in the summer?

We replied to this on the other video, check it out in the other video ua-cam.com/video/3HLXVfo4YSM/v-deo.html
I'm using 10lbs fluorocarbon for jig, is that too weak of a line? and if so why?
May be a little light. The wire gauge on the hooks will often take a little more force to penetrate, so you may break the line or miss fish. I'll use 14lb.+ and on finesse jigs (1/4oz or smaller), I will sometimes fish 10lb.
I Love Your Videos Channel So much.
What’s the knot? Looking for the secret. Keep breaking polamar knots. Losing hand over fist in lures. Wetted 10lb braid less than 6 months old.
10 lb braid pops. Go to 50lbs
Good stuff TY !
I wanna see the knot he ties
He has a video on UA-cam for it. Just search it. If I knew how to link it I would
This my kinda guy
Man I hate when the video cuts off
I always fish a jig!
Love me some AA
what is the knot actually called?
double clinch knot
thank you much!
Here's a video of Swindle tying it. It's kind of hard to see. ua-cam.com/video/76O_M5TDXWw/v-deo.html

zizme123 Mark Zona calls it a shark knot.
I can't be certain, but should I ever fish a jig?
What? Didn't learn a thing that I already didn't know. You cut out all of the info.
Iaconellie and swindle need to fish together
I missed the secret
There is no bite like a jig bite while dragging, stroking, hopping bottom.
There should be subtitles on this...only got every other word..
#Jigs4Pigs
that beard though!!
God is good
Jigs are a big fish bait.
Big fish bait? The only lures that target big fish specifically are large swim baits.

Hell, I'm from the south, and I cant even understand him.
His last name is swindle 🤦🏻♂️ homie selling his own jig as well
Always fish a senko
Unfortunately your pronounciation is hardly to be understand for a foreigner.
I disagree, Ive learned when someone says "Always" or "Never" THAT is a sign of B/S................great beard or not..............

I love fishing with someone who doesn't believe in a jig. More fish for me!
@@illduitmyself and how many wins and how many classics has he got ??? I love jigs but you gotta throw other baits aswell
