After 11 months I JUST got my SECOND Attack Jewel. Yeah maybe I wasn't playing this game exclusively that entire time but holy fucking shit Capcom. I'd have No Attack Jewels if it wasn't for that one you get for playing the story.
Grats :D They do seem to be 1 of the more elusive jewels and needing a total of 7 to complete the jewel set is a little silly. Thankfully behemoth set for melee's at least made things for attack jewels a little more bearable, I would like to see attack added to bowgun sets also.
So instead, I opted for max cluster damage. My clusters with full buffs and build do 127 consistently. Instead of 7 attack, I went 4 attack, 3 peak performance, 3 agitator. My previous build similar to your 7 attack only ever seems to deal 94-109. I'm not sure if agitator values are skewed but I deal much more with the skill.
That makes no sense. If you look at my video from 4:07 on-wards i'm using 7/7 attack which is 3 more than than you and im 3/3 peak performance and 3/3 agitator. There is no way your set should deal more damage unless the following factors are in play: 1: you had additional attack buffs from palico or horn user in party. 2: you used might pill which only lasts 20 seconds (meaning it can't be consistent as you said) 3: you had another buff such as felyne temper (boosts bowgun damage) or something else i'm not account for. 4:You are not fighting the same monster and they all have their own defense stats so damage will vary. The only way to improve on damage on my set currently would be to have 7 attack jewels so you could switch out artillery and change charm to agitator to get lv5 on that as well. The numbers with the set you are posting just don't add up. There is another variable in play you did not account for if that is the case.
If you mean the set with agitator my suggestion would be to fill it up with some utility skills that you can make use of such as "divine protection" jewels to help mitigate some incoming damage or max health increase if you prefer but better than HP increase might be medicine jewels to increase the strength of self-healing from your weapon augment which will in turn feed your peak-performance.
You should use the agitator build if you are missing the free element jewel. I would prioritize that over the other stats. losing 1 attack and 1 artillery isn't going to hurt too much, just pop in some utility skills until they drop for you.
>.< I'm still missing mind's eye. ammo up/release is important on this build so I would use the agitator build (which doesn't require it) and add in some extra utility in place of the attack. you'll still do decent damage with it! Make sure you use attack buffs they add alot of extra attack also.

Hey Mimikins! So I got 7 attack jewels, placed them all in and swapped in the slugger charm. As for artillery, is it necessary to include in the build? as I've put in 3 health jewels and a critical boost jewel instead. If I were to put in 3 artillery jewels then I'd have to remove one attack jewel, a health jewel and the critical jewel which is not a fair change in my opinion.
The critical boost jewel you are using offers nothing to cluster ammo as it can never critically hit no matter how much affinity you stack. The artillery is just for if/when you might need the sticky + Wyvern ammo. It's a bonus but not a requirement depending on if you actually end up using those ammo types which i do sometimes. Health increase is a viable choice also but lose the critical jewel, it's wasted. PS. 7 attack jewels..........*goes to corner to cry*
The custom mods don't affect the cluster ammo 3, so I usually go with 3x recoil to get sticky ammo off faster, which I use if I run out of cluster bombs. Firing constant sticky ammo into the head makes the monster constantly fall over as well as some decent damage. This way I often don't even have to return to camp to restock on ammo.
I already mentioned the use for the artillery in the video if you bothered to watch it. It's for wyvern and sticky ammo which still deal very good damage and can be used when you run out of clusters. If you juggle your clusters with sticky and wyvern, most of the time you will not need to go back and restock purely for the sake of clusters alone.
I just tested this again right now and i can confirm that close-range does NOT effect the damage on cluster bombs. You can test this for yourself again by making a set with the exact same stats and the only difference being the gun mods with 1 set having x3 close-range and whatever else you want in the 2nd. Go to the training room and switch between the sets and try for yourself. Close range damage for skills that benefit from it will show an increase in damage on the training dummy but clusters showed none what so ever. The only reason i can think you make have gotten a different number output was perhaps you tested this in a monster (which will without a good sample size give unreliable results) that may or may not have enraged. For those who do not know, some monsters (not all) in MH games including world will suffer a defense penalty when enraged causing them to deal more damage but also take more.
@@Jandabeargaming Was probably patched during the lunastra update we found it strange and ran a cheese HBG cluster bomb build just for that as it upped our damage from 84 to 96.
My tests were done on console version although i own both PS4 and PC. I prefer the frame-rate on capped graphics on pc but it's behind in content so my videos are made from the console version with pc-friendly builds being added where i can. If you test again when you get the chance on training dummy let me know if the bug/difference still exists for you. Definitely not the case for console players though.
If you are on Console, the new 6.0 patch has a quest were you can get an attack jewel 100%. Also as rosencrantz said spamming those event quest drops an insane number of jewels.
That would be attack and health regen to help feed the peak performance. Clusters can't critically hit incase you didn't already know. Hope this helps.
I understand the exclusivity of certain jewels but you should also understand it's impossible for me to make a build that caters to everyone as what each person has available will vary. I've yet to see a mind's eye jewel and others have multiples, you get the idea.
THey will come with time and also don't miss out on the events where jewels drop like crazy when those events come around. I'm referring to "The greatest Jagras" and "The name's Lavasioth". Those events are a goldmine!
Personally i would not opt for that. This is partially down to play-style and i make use of my sticky ammo as well as wyvern ammo. The difference in damage is negligible and with my set-up you don't have to run back to camp the second clusters rut out and they do run out VERY fast.
Yes it's just as effective on them as it is many other monsters in the game. Being solo will help with the knock-downs as the stagger/stun limits are lower in single player. If going with a group then encourage your team-mates to go with cluster sets also and you will decimate the monster real fast!
:( I hope you get some soon! Capcom need to add more attack armors or make the drop rates better for jewels. You might be able to add some more attack using the dober body and lose some artillery skill which only affects the wyvern ammo/sticky which I use if I run out of clusters.
Health booster and health regen augment on weapon will keep you alive during bombardment. Health regen augment recovers a percentage of the damage dealt so it's very potent with clusters and wyvern ammo on HBG's.

:( Ammo up is an important skill for this build, if you have to loose a skill to gain it from an armor piece I would drop the artillery jewels.

What augments are best? Attack and health regen?
I prefer health regen & attack. The health regen is also important for keeping peak performance attack values up as well as survival.

As for he attack jewels, I got 5 of them from only tempered black diablos in a span of around 2 months.

When i try to craft cluster bombs it just allows me to craft one, how can i change that?
You can't currently but in Iceborne we will get the option to "Craft all" via the radial menu.
I have 9 attack jewels so good luck on that one.

:( I hope you get them soon. Build still does good damage even without capped attacked. Attack buffs often offer more attack than even a full 7.
