@@chriswhitehead6095 Having spent a lot of time in analog then paying a lot to upgrade everything to DJI, Im watching HDZero/Sharkbyte with enthusiasm and really want it to succeed. In every way I feel the feature set of what it provides combined with the innovation of hardware in the space will be much more compelling than DJI in many ways. The best part is the creator of it the chip designer for the HD transmission dropped so much on the proof of concept and his approach to digital video imho is better for what do than DJI's approach. Beyond racing, HDZero has huge potential for Long-Range. I’m currently getting 7km+ with clean video and strong signal using free DIY antennas. Here’s my original range/penetration test: ua-cam.com/video/7bE45uR9Nfw/v-deo.html I’ll post my latest tests this week, but more importantly the new VTX-L coming soon will basically make analog obsolete, and easily surpass DJI’s max range. DJI’s system is great and has a beautiful image, but the send/receive technology just has certain limitations. Congrats to Evan and the the HDZero team! Great interview here, cheers!

Nah m8 - HDZero can't buy enough Divimath silicon to really make it change over instantly... but yeah, within a couple of years, analog may finally be dead
I should’ve thrown a little smiley in there. I know analog isn’t dead. But HD has been plenty fast for far longer than the community is giving it credit for.
The Five33 people are awesome, I received their new Footy frame today, sent to me so I can design TPU parts for it, starting with arm guards, then a canopy (one version with a turtle mode fin). They offered me any cad file I want to make TPU parts for their frames, I think it helped that I've made so many TinyTrainer parts already and then I started designing arm guards for the Switchback Pro Lite, I measured & recreated the arm end in my editor so accurate that when I compared it against the original cad file it was no more than 0.1mm out...!

Ya know, I LOVE freestyle. I love it so much that I still run Tracer for the latency/ease of use with my TBS Unify EVO. Those things said I 100% agree with Evan that if we want racing to grow as a spectator's sport and the hobby overall to grow we absolutely NEED digital to be a part of that. Also boy did my ears perk up at Evan saying Orqa will be launching a new product at the Costa Rica race.
i remember us having this conversation a couple of years ago on a comment thread in another one of your videos. We talked about and discussed how Formula 1 does it in relation to signal noise, loss, etc. I'm almost certain it was in a Barrdwell video comment thread. One or two of us were of the mindset that digital would easily be the next race strandard and there were *many* more doubters than embracers.
Setting up the vtx, vtx tables, and smart audio is the hardest part of building a quad for me. Obviously I still haven’t figured it out as we saw at champs. Not sure why it has to be the most complicated thing, but hdzero could simplify this tremendously for me and a lot of newer people to the hobby. With time, I think it will become the standard for fpv! Tiny trainers are awesome! Everyone should build one just for fun and practice. Super durable and the leds make it fun to watch as well. I won’t be at Pura Vida, but thats gonna be the tightest race of the year. Can’t wait to watch the stream and hopefully win some hydra picks!
I'm down with HDzero, DJI kills my soul. but works great. I don't really care about latency. just waiting for native OLED goggles. I wish the breakup was softer.... but I'll deal to support the hobby.
I wonder how much things will grow when the 4x3 camera comes out soon and the 1 watt. Definitely exciting times! Options never hurt anyone. Competition brings that price down too 🤙
after a long wait on something usable from fatshark, I was about to pull a trigger on dji this Christmas, but this video gives a hope i should hold back for 6 more months.
Digital will give an advantage because its upgradeable. It's capable of more. Eventually, we will get latency down to nothing and all we will have is a better viewing experience with the same latency as analog.
Hdzero does this already, analogs holding on by a string. The only thing actually keeping analog safe from the 1 watt hdzero vtx is the tbs unify pro32 at 1,500mw, and that's only at the limits with a 500mw lead
Fantastic interview, Joshua! 😃 Damn, I guess I'm going to need to go to the US some day only to buy frames and stuff. 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
This kid is well spoken and sounds like a true professional! 👍different topic: I understand the latency issue for those who race but freestyle and cinematic flying, wouldn't you prefer the clarity of hd over analog? I'm a newbie so take this with a grain of salt cheers
Latency can be an issue with freestyle (think of reacting quickly when heading toward a concrete wall at 60mph). However I think in the vast amount of cases cinematic is pretty much ideally suited to DJI.
I remember when I first started to get into fpv and several people on YT told me to go analog now those same people are flying HD🤨....latency was the issue but doesn't seem to be at all anymore....I just love how another company is getting into HD DJI has been the "DON" long enough lol JB said over a year ago while reviewing some eachine, skyzone and fatshark gogs that analog will be coming to an end....or in my opinion the least sought after....HD is a "no brainer"....No more bringing an extra bottle of water when rippin just to throw into a tree to get unhooked from a ghost branch 😏
Yeah same here with the youtubers saying fly analogue a couple years ago, or less. I think some of it was brand loyalty to what they were using on their part and some of it was they also expected you to struggle through shitty video and trying your best to build cleaner and with better and better analogue cameras, stronger vtx's, antenna, noise filters, multiple caps, shielding, blah blah blah. I wish just one of them said, "if you are going into FPV long term, at this point just get DJI you will love it" I would have appreciated them a lot more and would have enjoyed my flying experience a lot more.
Seeking opinions: Can HD be ran sub-250 on a quad for freestyle? If so, which system is best, and if not, why not?
