Day damn 1 of the Premier League saw a lot of changes first of all we welcomed Cardiff for their first ever Premier League season after they were promoted as champions the previous season in the Championship, welcomed back Hull after 3 years away and Crystal Palace after 8 years away after Ian Holloway had guided the Eagles to glory via the playoffs which was part of an Amazon Prime documentary called When Eagles Dare. In the dugout they were changes too Roberto Martinez had swapped Wigan for Everton to replace David Moyes who after a very successful 11 year reign at Goodison Park departed to be "The Chosen One" at Old Trafford as he took the unenviable task of replacing Sir Alex Ferguson after his retirement announcement, Mark Hughes had gone to Stoke which wasn't entirely popular with some quarters of the Stoke fans to replace Tony Pulis who stood down at the end of the previous season, it was welcome back to Jose Mourinho who returned for a second spell as Chelsea boss after Rafa Benitez's stop gap appointment of the previous season after Roberto Di Matteo's sacking and Buenos Dias to Manuel Pellegrini who was the new Manchester City boss arriving from Malaga after guiding them to the Champions League for the first time in their history and making the last 8 of the tournament the previous season only missing out on the semi finals thanks 2 stoppage time goals by Borussia Dortmund who then managed by one Jurgen Klopp we're a few seasons out from his arrival in the PL. Also we welcomed a new owner in the form of Pakistani/American billionaire Shahid Khan who purchased Fulham from previous owner Mohammed Al-Fayed for an estimated 150-200 million pounds in July 2013 this year will mark a decade since he bought the club it had a been rollercoaster tenure since.
Results wise nothing really stood out apart from at the Emirates when Aston Villa who everyone had written off pre season having just about escaped the drop the previous season had beaten fancied Arsenal 3-1 with their kingpin Christian Benteke and summer signing Antonio Luna doing the damage. Why was it significant? Well this was the result that sparked AFTV into life because it was still in its infancy at the time because it had only been going since October of the previous season the first AFTV video was after Arsenal's 5-2 North London Derby shellacking of Tottenham. After this horrific start to the season and a summer of barely any transfer activity there were outgoings a plenty Sebastien Squillaci, Denilson, Andrey Arshavin, Andre Santos, Mauroanne Chamakh, Vito Mannone and Gervinho all moving on and barely anyone coming in there was only 1 permanent signing in the 90 days between the end of 2012/13 and the start of 2013/14 and that was Yaya Sonogo on a free from Auxerre, an Arsenal fan by the name of Chris Hudson approached Robbie Lyle and his cameraman Tao Weitzer who are the co-founders of AFTV and absolutely let rip at everybody. Arsene Wenger who came out and apologised to the fans for how badly the team performed, Ivan Gazidis the then chief executive who took over from David Dein 5 years earlier and even Tim Payton who's a member of the board at Arsenal and spokesperson for the Arsenal Supporters Trust were all called out to resign from their positions for not just the poor performance on the day but the complete lack of transfer activity during the summer which in his words could undo all the graft Arsenal did the previous year when they snuck into 4th at Tottenham's expense the following Tuesday when Arsenal who were threadbare faced Fenerbahce in the 1st leg of a 2 legged play off tie to reach the Champions League group stages. After that interview the rest was history for Robbie and look where he is now AFTV still going strong and now DR Sports so this was a significant opening day.

Only losers like AFTV these days as the fanbase are driven these people away. Not saying that Wenger should of gone. Even he admitted this .
