UK small investor - On the back of this news I have just triggered a sell out of or where possible transferred to others all of my investments, funds, stocks - anything with Vanguards suddenly greedy name on it. I hope everyone does the same, even with those hoops to jump through.
I really appreciate how you broke down the impact on smaller investors. It’s so important to keep the community informed! Your insights are inspiring, and I’m sure many will find your advice helpful as they navigate these changes💪📈
I have a small balance at present and so this was the obvious choice for me until at least I hit the threshold that the other platforms were cheaper. Really annoyed with the short time frame to now go and check the other platforms to transfer again so soon. Clearly decided they no longer need to hoover up all the smaller investors.
Helpful video, so surprised at Vanguard, tactical mistake I think for a company whose selling point has always been low fees. I wonder what Jack Bogle would think... Keep up the good work!
Quick question currently I have 34,000 in my portfolio, however 5000 is in cash does this still count or does that mean i only have 29000 invested meaning i still dont pass the 32k mark?
Subscriber for a while. I need some advice please. With Vanguard and at the start of my investment journey. Currently less than 1500 in a SIPP and Stock and Shares ISA. I put into the FTSE Global All Cap Index Fund Accumulation and say I spend £1.40 on something I pump that 60p in there as well. I round up to the nearest pound and throw my lose change in. Which platform should I switch to now to allow me to do this and a lower fee? Thanks 🙏
Not going anywhere from Vanguard. It is my future we talk about here and I want it with the best, most reputable and safest company ever which makes profit and is here to stay at least for my lifetime:-)
Honestly this is an important point to consider, and their key advantage. Vanguard is never going away/bankrupt, which can't be said the newer, small platforms - esp important if planning to hold investments for decades. Even this increase in fees in relatively insignificant given that peace of mind, and as portfolio grows over time the change becomes inconsequential anyway (in relation to the 4/month fee if 32k)
@ 100% Glad others share this oppinion specially that those most likely to jump are new investors and hopefully our comments will make them reconsider as new and cheap is often just that: new and cheap.
Im with you. And have well over £32k with them, so this doesn’t affect me. However, it does affect lots of the youngsters in my extended family. Might need to look at moving them all. Seems a bizarre strategy to take and completely against Bogel’s original concept… Not a good look imo
I already opened a new account with ISA account with vanguard and I plan to put in £20,000 for this year ISA and as soon as April 6th comes I will put in £12,000 for next year ISA. That way I have over £32,000. Is this worth it? Should I do it?
so disappointing, I also have a fund which isn’t transferable which is annoying. Also annoyed they have done this over Xmas as I’m really far too busy to be looking into this at the moment which basically just really makes me quite angry with vanguard! I did hear somewhere that if you take their personal advice offer it’s a better price! But I don’t like having someone else having control over my money. Eeeeek !!
Exactly how I feel. I spent a lot of time researching which Vanguard funds to invest in and now I feel like I have to rush; not least because they probably will have masses of people wanting to transfer.
@@sufiyann-yo282 Thank you for taking the time to post this. I manage 3 SIPPs (me, spouse and mother). All three will be transferred. Already started 2 transfers. And got x2 £25 bonus referrals.
It’s definitely a slap in the face! However I’m so comfortable with them I won’t change, I’ll just invest £48 extra per year or £4 per month. I’m planning as I reach 57 in 20 years time, I may start allocating into dividend funds!!! Love your content!!!
Vanguard is never going to the bust/disappear. There is something to be said for the value of that certainty compared to the smaller platforms, even with fee rise
Thanks for watching. Re dividends yes, growth stocks are often valued based on investor sentiment and future potential, while dividends are paid based on a company’s financial health, specifically its cash flow and retained earnings. 📈📈

The point is that £48 is a lot to pay for small balances. Imagine someone who has an investment portfolio worth £5000 - they would pay almost 1% in platform fees which is absolutely ridiculous.
@@SilentSputnik Yeah maybe not now. But when they realise they can take you for a ride where does it stop. Plus that's pretty shit logic. You're losing money regardless it doesn't matter how much you have in there. Fact is you're over £300 a year worse off than I am in trading 212 regardless of how much you're making in vanguard.
Good video but you need to credit the sources (websites, etc) for your diagrams and screenshots. Not crediting websites etc for their proprietary content is a copyright strike waiting to happen
They're fully aware of the value of what they bring to the table in terms of their experience and status in the world of investing. Not too many of the cheap and cheerful newbies can match them. I'll stick around as I'm unaffected by the change but if anything more is sneeked under the radar I'll definitely consider taking my business elsewhere.
Some of you guys are such penny pinchers (or must have tiny portfolio amounts). It's a small change to introduce a relatively small minimum monthly amount of £4 on portfolios below £32,000.
You’re missing the point entirely. Some people are just starting out with investing and vanguard have essentially lost that whole market now. It would make no sense at all to invest with vanguard if you have less than 32k invested.

Done the same as you.
Pulled my cash out today, will move to invest engine.
Hope the transfer goes well and doesn’t take 30 days as they say…
T212, invest engine etc are rubbing their hands together after this announcement
100%
"T212, invest engine" are also getting the £85000 protection if they go bust ?? Are they 100% safe platforms?
I’ve already sold all my etfs and requested a cash withdrawal. Not worth transferring it, as it’s too small. Invest Engine or Trading 212 it is.

Etoro does not charge any fees for ETF's s the cost comparison table you are using incorrect?
Everytime I look at etoro my available balance is the minus going up what I owe them rapidly. I'm ready to close it anyday
Goodbye Vanguard...
Maybe not....
Surley the free platforms will start charging fees at some point?
Maybe not because Investengine has just scrapped the fee on their SIPP this week.
Maybe, but they are lowering them at the moment - IE just scrapped it's SIPP fee
Possible but on the other hand they're about to see a decent inflow of funds to manage.
That’s what I am thinking too. Surely they will in a few years time!

£375 cap has been a joke for a long while. Fidelity is capped at £90 for holding SIPP ISA and general investment accounts.
