I do container gardening up north in zone 5A and make my own homemade potting mix. I start by using clay from my backyard I let it dry in the sun on my driveway then I crush it into a fine powder then collect it. I used to use the topsoil as part of my base ingredients instead of clay, but found that the clay has way more minerals than the native topsoil in my backyard. Basically I mix clay, compost, worm castings, coconut coir, coarse garden perlite plus inoculants and amendments together by hand. Per 10 cubic foot dual wheel wheelbarrow (1 batch): 5 gallons coconut coir 5 gallons of crushed powdered clay 5 gallons of locally-sourced earth worm castings 5 gallons of my homemade super compost fortified with rock dust and charcoal. 5 gallons of coarse garden perlite This is the bulk of my soil base mix. Then I add these inoculants and amendments to the base mix listed above. (1)Bat Guano (2)Bone meal (3) blood meal (4) rock dust (5) alfalfa meal (6) kelp meal (7) seaweed meal (8) aged chicken manure (9) green sand (10) feather meal (11) mycorrhiza (12) microorganism mix "multiple different types of microorganism bacteria" (13) Neem cake meal (14) red wiggler worms about one dozen per flower pot depending on the pot size I have excellent results using this recipe the only thing is my soil is slightly heavy however no problems draining. I'm considering maybe adding some vermiculite or more perlite to lighten it up some. Or should I make some leaf mold to lighten the mix, instead of adding vermiculite or more perlite? Is there anything i missing from this mix that would be beneficial?
That's a FANTASTIC soil recipe, especially cos it's so locally-sourced and produced by yourself. Perhaps some organic rice hulls would serve your drainage / loam needs well, otherwise keep following your success clues!
I think this is more of an fpe (fermented plant extract) , fpj you don’t add water just sugar and plant matter and let it ferment for like 5-10 days and there will be a nice dark liquid that’s fpj the sugar will have pulled all the juices out of the plant matter
I've been working in Cannabis in Las Vegas for 4 years and have been to at least 7 different facilities. You consistently see that salt/synthetic growers run into more problems than I've ever seen a soil grower run into. The risks outweigh the rewards. It creates defenseless plants that get attacked by pests constantly. Then. Enter pesticides. It's a big problem that was completely predictable. It's what happened in the broad factory agricultural industry and now it's happening to Cannabis.
And on top of that, I will say. Thank god for Super Steve Cantwell. He is one of the few guys bringing true bud grown with kindness to Las Vegas. Support him with your dollar. Stop buying deadrient grown high THC garbage.
I love the KNF love, but thats not KNF. That is something inbetween a KNFs fpj and JADAMs jlf and his own take on it. KNF products are sweet smelling and taste good edible while jadam is stinky and inedible. If anyones interested I can put the proper procedure as per Master Cho in here. Side note you can drink em-1, 1oz per glass of water helps people with digestion issues. I know people whose Crohn's went into remission.
So many great ideas so little time! I am working on John's idea 3 year composted wood chips work best in the garden. Now every year I compost another 50 gallon bin of wood chips! This year is the third year and it's time to move the third year wood chip compost into the garden! John's advice on using boogie brew works great! More great ideas to do and the garden grows great as is!
I guess that's not my cup of tea that of the hot red cookies looks like somebody would get into trouble with that or lose a couple brain cells well you guys enjoy it stay out of trouble with it
Iv got a huge 20 foot mound with some large plants... I dont F around and I dumped 16 pounds of boggie brew a and b DRY NO WATER spread on the entire mound, then 1130 ppm his pure protien 5 7 14 I think are the numbers then 300 ppm calmag..... Plant's are so close they need it and it worked year past
totally let the thai do its thing. I have grown for 7 years in RDWC while studying living soil. Tech is easier than biology to me so it took me a long time. My best grow was my first indoor living soil last December. I just started this years grow (im in Southern hemisphere) as i have been busy with worms, JADAM, biochar etc...
Totally agree with Seth’s views. Vermont is doing a great job with incorporating good ethics to dispensary cannabis. Lots of living soil choices out here it’s great to know the dispensary is growing their own strains and not just pushing other farmers product. they are their own product, which I think is great !
wow finding out about so many treasures these young guys share lol this is like my 3rd time watching and im taking in MORE AND MORE INFO ground cover safe clean fertiilizers, california Tobacco native even WTF i never knew that, what a wealth of info guys thanks so much sharing with us smooth brained common men :)P
I've had that Thai stick back when I was a teenager. You used to be able to get a stick for like $10 to $15. Was some of the best smoke you could get back in them days. Acapulco Gold was another one that was real popular back then ('70s) it was pretty good.
Final comment this video is what got my brain moving planning my first out door grow for MJ that i wanted to go fully organic on and my vegg garden i haven't had one for 6 years my last few were horrible and i thought i lost my touch so I took a time out but been growing bud for 6 years inside quite successfully and that is not fully organic but mostly. Anyhow just watching again glad you brought up anaerobic and aerobic doesnt that also support fungi and the other supports a bacteria? you guys didn't mention any of that science LOL Bacteria that produce energy with oxygen are aerobic, while bacteria that make energy without oxygen are anaerobic.
I had a watermelon plant show up just when i was planting seedlings now i have a huge zebra watermelon about 5 pounds in 3 weeks time and i started hand pollinating last week and now have another watermelon that popped up so cool
Add as part of a bloom-specific top dressing (great vegan source of phosphorus). Just sprinkle around the base of plants which are in need of a little flower-food. Or add to compost tea recipes at around 2 tablespoons per 5 gallons of full strength brew.
my formula is to add a handful of forest microbes and 2 cooked potatoes ,4 gals. of H2o and 3/4 gals sea water[100 gr.sea salt. I use poppies. Best if kept above 68 degrees. done when a circle of bacteria form on top. Can be used for plant spray if used early, leave longer and it's only a soil drench. Sugar makes it too acidic use smashed cooked potatoes. Jadaam KNF
love your content guys its brilliant, i have had my nettle, fig, strawberry fertizler brewing for 2-3 days now cant wait to add a tiny bit to my lil ladies

I enjoyed this video. Josh did a great job as your substitute, but I prefer you, John. You are the rock star when it comes to growing greens.🤩

Just ordered more boogie brew today. Left a comment about wanting to try the black soilder fly frass... much love❤
55:45 OK so the question is: how can we understand how to dilute the FPJ? Maybe using an EC meter?
Yes indeed, we would recommend checking EC and, if needed, dilute to suit (perhaps recommend 420ppm or less).
Speaking my language. Subscribed!!
Keep topping just in case.
