  • The increments are 0.01 mm; it wasn’t the near side except if you’re driving on the wrong side of the road. I’m going to make a steel bracket to hold the dial gage so I should get a better reading. The bike is a 2006 BMW R1200 GS, nice.

You can bend the rotor back to get rid of the runout +/- .01 mm is easily attained and wont be felt at all.

Hi Egg1456, thanks for commenting and the tip I realise now that the run-out shown was within tolerance, I didn't know how to read the dial gauge, it turned out that the problem was knackered wheel bearings.

Hey mate, thanks for the video. Did you come up with a solution to this? I was thinking putting washers in between the wheel and the disc to even out the travel?

Hi Francis I bought two new discs (Brembo) and they have been fine so far, I wouldn't try to fix the run out by shimming the disc the component is far to safety critical for that in my opinion. I look after my disc by removing them from the wheel if I have new tiers fitted because I think this is when they can be bent by accident by the tire fitters, hope this is of help and thanks for commenting, John from sunny Devon UK
