OMG😍 I love the size and setup of your store business. This is genius. I'm trying to start a small food business but I'm in NYC and don't want a food truck. Something like this would be perfect. ❤️
hey bro, I'm getting ready to start my own business for Shave Ice, and I was wondering what are some good simple flavors to start out with as I am on a fixed income so I can't get everything I want at once. and also if you possibly have any other professional tips that you wouldn't mind handing out I really appreciate it thank you.
Thanks for sharing this. How did you go about determining your location? Did you rent the lot of a local business owner, lease a lot from the city, ...etc.?
Omg! You do ice cream centres?? The snow cone place I used to visit as a kid had ice cream centres. I loved them so much but they closed shop and I never found another that did that. I thought it was a fluke. lol That's so awesome. Ever since my local one closed up I've always dreamed of having my own shaved ice shop. I was always told it was extremely expensive to start up and run though so child!me gave up the dream. I'm finally revisiting it and researching it now though hehe. Nice video, thanks so much for sharing!
how did you go about finding the location. I'm not sure where to go to find a location available be it a parking lot of a shopping center, a store, like you did, or rent or lease a space somewhere. So what was the first thing you did when planning on starting your own snow stand?
I'm starting a business like yours. I'd love to know your pricing. Do you offer any addetives in the ice like halo halo ice. I see alot of added value and profit for a small amount. It seems if you are super busy just add flavor but if it's slower add some extra ingredients and charge more. great videos.!
My prices are mini $1.25, small $2, medium $2.75, and Large $3.50. My prices are low and I’ll be raising them a little next season. I don’t add anything to the ice.
My name is Nadine I want to know how much do you make with a snow cone business, and how do I get started with my own shaved ice business. It is something that I might be interested in if it can generate some extra money and later possibly more.
How much do you sell a cone for ? How much is profit on each after cup/flavouring/refrigeration ? How many do you sell a day ? I'm in Australia and my wife has mentioned that this would be a great summer job as we have a space on the beach with lots of foot traffic . Good on you mate cheers .
The Haddocks what exactly permits and inspection do you need? Like I’m a first time business person. And I’d like to start one this summer. What paper work do I need. Such as business license. Food permit. Inspection things like that
this is great! it looks like you use ice blocks. can you advise if you can use a cube ice machine like the hatsuyuki hc-27? we have lots of cube ice in the restaurant and would like to use cube ice if possible.
I saw a bottle of Sodium Benzoate and a bottle of citric acide? What do you use those for? Please answer. I just placed my order for the ice machine, ordered my syrups, cups. Im just about ready to go.
Yeah I called Hawaiinsupplies and they told me the same thing. It keeps the shelf life longer. Thank you so much. How are you enjoying your Fujimarca V2? I bought the same one and should be arriving soon.
How do you make dill pickle flavor from concentrate without it being sweet. I know the ratios and all that. I use Southern snow just like you but if you use simple syrup this stuff isn’t good at all. What do you use with the concentrate to keep it sour only?
You buy flavor concentrates. I use 10 cups of sugar to make 1 gallon of simple syrup. Then I use 1 ounce of flavor concentrate mixed with simple syrup to make 1 quart of flavored syrup.
snowie are good fast reliable machines. Depends what you want. Better shave or fast. If you are brick and mortar store or concession trailer hitting festivals and events. If you want return business as in brick and mortar you want a better quality shave. You will need a block shaver as in the Hawiian style shaver. It is a finer shave and offers a better quality ice. If you are an event person Snowie machines are fine. They shaved cubed ice. Also is easier to obtain when you are doing event type sales. They shave very fast and will work fine for most events. This is not to say you can't do events with a block shaver you just have to be better prepared for the event with your ice supply.
Edwin Diaz how to make cherry thing is you pour sugar into a bowl and add water then bowl it until the sugar has desalved then add cherry kool-aid mix then you are done!
CWin 20 You will need to find a machine and company that you love. Find a place and location that you will be selling from...cart, store front, etc. You need a health department inspection and they will give you a certificate/license. You'll need to file for a tax id number with your state. You'll need to either make your own ice or find a supplier. You will need a freezer or several. Usually you can't make your product out of your house and so that requires a separate kitchen from which you make your strips. Good luck!
Your video of your set up was very helpful. What range do you feel I'd need for start up $$ for something about your facility size? I know it'd vary by state, but trying to get an idea of what I'd be looking at for initial investment.
Kimberly Townsend It depends on what type of set up you want because it varies a lot. A cart ranges between $2000 to $10000 depending on where you buy it from or if you build it yourself. You can get financing with the carts/trailers and machines as well. A block shaving machine can cost anywhere between $1600 to $2400 and other machines are varied. Plus you might need a generator if your running a cart but if your in a store the rent differs probably anywhere between $500 to $2000 a month depending on the state and location. This is the basic stuff though and license fees you can go into your county website and find out more info. Just do some research and it will give you a much better idea. This is what I have learned thus far just from reading.
I originally invested $3k to get it going. I have since reinvested some of the earnings back in the business to upgrade equipment and offer more products. I added a soft serve machine, More freezers, new/better shavers, etc... I would say start small and build it with the money you make.
Pamela Barrett this isn't a trailer. I am setup in a storefront with my other business. I actually built everything with my brother. We made our own countertops and everything as well.
Pamela Barrett It is in a store. Well we built out a small section of my Boutique business and cut a whole in the wall and made a walkup window. It was about $3k to do all that and get equipment and supplies. We did it for a good price because we did all the work.

What are your popular flavors with an ice cream center?
How many cones do you get from a 1/2 gallon block?
Billywizard1
I would assume 40, I've gotten 79 from a Gallon.
Do those ICE cubes just slide out of the tubs?
Yes, I just let them thaw on the counter for a few minutes and they do or you can run them under cool water.
what do you recommend I should buy just to start ? like what machine? and what flavor brand ?
how did you go about finding the location. I'm not sure where to go to find a location available be it a parking lot of a shopping center, a store, like you did, or rent or lease a space somewhere. So what was the first thing you did when planning on starting your own snow stand?
Mala's Word you can get a vending permit from the town/city that you live in and go to anywhere that people gather....parks, swimming pools, etc.
Do you need a permit? Which one and is it hard to try to get one?
Is it necessary to have two shaved ice machine?
Can you tell me where you get your bottle for syrup with the speed pour tops?
I got them off ebay. I believe hypothermias carries them.
Starting my own snow cone business , just set the truck up I have a ice person but flavors ? Where would be the best place to start
I use southern snow. I have a video of where I get everything from here: ua-cam.com/video/iAGlLbNT8kQ/v-deo.html

Hi Richard! I am about to open a shaved ice business and wondered if you had a business plan template and an initial supply list?
I don't have a template. It should be hard to put together.
I have been considering this as well and been looking for a good supply list.
Where can I get those sryup bottles at and those fast pourers from?
ebay
Where do you buy your syrups?

Can you please share where you buy the half gallon buckets from? They are really good size and quality
I bought them at a local container store. You can get them anywhere they are 64oz buckets.
