Sure you’d want to play the best players in their best positions. Southgate is too cowardly to do that because he is determined to stick another defensively minded player in midfield.

@@ManchesterCitySupremacy nah, kane won some vital fouls in their half last 10 mins or so to slow the game down and see it out. Also had an important defensive clearence and would have killed the game if not for a good save by their keeper.
I have never seen Foden play well for England, no matter what position he plays. He is consistently england's worst player and he seems to be unpopular in the squad.

It takes a special kind of manager to not get a tune out of Foden, Kane and Saka. Even Rice, whilst brilliant defensively, was hesitant going forward. Southgates a clown.
Gareth needs to understand that no player is un subable not 1 single one of them that’s our problem and you can clearly see he’s so scared to lose and maybe just maybe foden actually isn’t that good with out the great city players around him. England is far too easy to play through in midfield and showed no threat on the left side. Now we see the benefit of playing Calvin Phillips or Jordan Henderson there. Unfortunately, we currently don't have a replacement for them. Also, I think we will miss Grealish on the left and badly need Shaw fit and ready to play.

1. Foden or Bellingham as number 10, no other way.
2. Foden can be 6/7 out of 10, Bellingham at least 8.
3. Foden plays with a team, Bellingham leads a team to play.
4. Both good at arriving in the box, but Bellingham is taller.
5. Winning a 50/50 when needed, you know who will go all in.
6. To be fair, try putting Bellingham on the left and the result is the same, both is not suitable on the flanks because these are for wingers. Proper wingers can also compliment Kane better. Play Gordon or eze.
Last thing, when chasing a goal, Trent will replace a defender, Palmer will replace a midfielder to go all in.

@@michaelwynn8019 it's not about him not playing well. As long as you have 2 10s on the field, there are always going to be squeezed in the middle. Only one can play at any one time.
Against team parking a bus, use foden. Against teams when England has less possession, Bellingham will be the better choice.
Best midfield combo against Slovakia,
Gordon (grealish even better) rice, mainoo, foden, Palmer.
Against top teams to play counter attack, it will be Bellingham, Saka and Watkins. Can even take a risk on Trent replacing Walker.
It just need to have the right combo for different kind of plays.

While Southgate is useless, hes not the only manager who doesnt use Foden in his best position. Foden absolutely has to be on the right jand side, even Guardiola fcuked up in the cup final by playing him on the left. Foden on the right cutting in and shooting is when hes at his best, on the left he might not even have 1 attempt on goal, as in the Serbia game. If Southgate cant see it then he should do, if he knows Fodens best position is on the right but prefers Saka, thats his choice. But if he plays Saka he should probably put Foden on the bench and play someone else, be it Palmer, Gordon. If Southgate had a clue when he took Saka off he shouldve switched Foden to the right instead of leaving him on the left and bringing Bowen on.
The best players play anywhere, look at Bellingham commanding the ball in all areas of the field. If Foden is that good, he should be demanding the same effort from himself, and we should hold him to those standards. The difference between Foden and Saka is that one has been consistent for England. It’s getting a little bit exhausting, hearing people have excuses lined up for Foden for practically every game he plays. Whereas players like Saka, Trent and Bellingham (getting the picture yet) don’t get the same luxury and are disregarded at their position and contested to move position simply cause fans demand us to compensate PHIL FRAUDON! Well at least for the City fans you won’t have the Sun put FRAUDON on the front of the newspaper when England lose
