    I have skinny hands and their new locking system doesn't affect me. Though, I have the Trident AT and I'm not a big fan of the pocket clip. I wish the clip was a little sleeker. Besides that, so far I like the Trident AT.

    I’ve looked at a ton of SOG knives and thought “If only this wasn’t assisted”

    • @AYellowPepper
      @AYellowPepper 3 роки тому

      I mean... even strongly assisted knives are not that difficult to close with one hand... easier then a really stiff Lockback or slipjoint... the Leg method works but is a bit scary with knives as sharp as mine :P

      I actually bought the SOG Flash AT-XR and removed the pivot spring. It turned it into a thumb stud assisted opener and a manual axis-lock closer. It's insane. SOG should have just removed this piece from the start.

      Don't find them particularly hard to close just had to many fail on me. Its not hard or expensive to make an smooth manual opening knife. If I want something quick ill buy an auto. Ya i have a deassisted blur but the detent is almost nonexistent

    • @jamierichards27

      Agreed. Assisted knives are illegal where I live and most of the SOG knives I like are assisted, so I can't get them.

    The lanyard lope intrigues me. I've tried doing lanyards but don't like them, and I think it has to do with most company's putting the lope more towards the spin, and when its in the right side pocket the lanyard is always in the way of my hand. I'm thinking having it on the blade side, would keep the lanyard outside the pocket. Keeping it out off the way of my hand.

    I got the SOG Flash AT-XR and removed the pivot spring.
    This way, the knife still opens like an assisted knife, but I can close it with one hand like an axis-lock.
    It also has a safety, which I think is really good so that other people can't use your knife.

    XR lock is a hit on the Terminus. It’s lame on all the assisted knives because it gets rid of the best feature of the lock and that’s it’s ease of closing.

      you clearly have not seen a cheap knife before... this knife looks like any normal Person outdoor gear, the Outdoor outfitter i work at sells a High quality Trekking backpack in EXACTLY these Colours! Deep Navy blue fabric and Acid Green Plastic accents. Hecc look at anything Patagonia makes, they are market leaders in Massproduced quality.
      Not only is this knife designed well but its finished nicely... both indicators of quality... look at anything mtech or böker magnum... THATS what cheap knives look like!

      AYellowPepper I couldn’t agree more I have a power lock something or other (the one with the wings) And it is probably my favorite pliers heads of all time. If I could get the SOG plier head with the Leatherman tools and the fit and finish of the Swiss Tool I’d be in heaven!

      AYellowPepper I think the more recent models of multi tool from SOG are even worse in quality. It was everything I wanted on paper but of such shite quality I got rid of it almost immediately.

  • @TacticalBunnyCA

    Aegis got fat... Really really fat. The irony being that the Aegis was a Benchmade Bugout before the Bugout ever existed! All they needed to change to go head to head with the Bugout was get a major steel upgrade on the OG Aegis. Instead they turned this thing into a wannabe Spyderco Tenacious and I’d rather have a Tenacious!

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  3 роки тому +1

      this has nothing to do with a tenacious what so ever and is its own knife, it doesnt look or feel like anything out there Ive had or used...I agree though with the popularity of the bugout SOG could have went light on this and upgraded the steel to compete, but now the bugout went heavy with the whiter G10 20CV model which I like the most of all of them...Ive never haled a folder and thought to myself this knife is heavy...I have also never been in a situation where my folding knife was just too heavy for my pants lol I carry a ton of gear...

    • @AYellowPepper
      @AYellowPepper 3 роки тому +2

      Well, the tenacious doesn't have an Axis lock, D2 Steel or the looks of this knife. And the Tenacious Tip is less pointy!
      Also non knife people generally like assisted knives... and spydercos are essentially purely for knife nerds like us. Only Nerds like us love the looks of the Spyder!

    • @TacticalBunnyCA
      @TacticalBunnyCA 3 роки тому +1

      cutlerylover I’ve had both the Aegis full size and Mini for many years now they are both favorites. My primary EDC is a Cold Steel Spartan and with the “run for the hills!” factor that a knife like that can have I like to carry a secondary “haha that’s cute” knife as well. Enter my Spyderco Dragonfly... not an Aegis but I have also subbed in the Aegises as well which are of the very few knives I can sub in for the Dragonfly before things get too cluttered and heavy. I’m sure you can understand now why I am a bit more of a stickler on the weight topic. My large Aegis has been dedicated to the emergency bag but the mini still gets good pocket time and a Bugout Mini is high on my wish list! They are awesome as field scalpels I used one last week to wedge out a splinter in my foot that the tweezers where just snapping off.
      On paper at least, this new Aegis does seem to have a bit in common with the tenacious, in defense of my point 🤔. Steel liners with composite scales, leaf shape blade, interesting color option, non-super steel blade that is fair and proportionately to its sub $100 dollar price point 3 1/4” to 3 1/2” blade, 4 to 5 oz. I can’t see how they would not be direct competitors in the knife case.
