- This is "Georgia on My Mind," a timeless classic written by Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell in 1930 🎶. While Ray Charles made it famous, the great Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelly also recorded a beautiful version, making it a favorite in the jazz manouche scene 🎻 🌟.
This is our acoustic trio version, and we love adding our own touch to this beautiful melody 🎸❤️!

Even though, as a lifelong musician I will never have the ability to play at this level, I’m incredibly blessed to be able to appreciate and understand the beauty, soul, and musicianship that’s going on here. On a more practical level, how do they keep from increasing the tempo, while playing those incredibly fast licks. Just WOW! 👍😎❤️
This performance is a masterclass in how to make pentatonic and blues riffs work with gypsy jazz. I'd be dumb not to transcribe this entire performance.

Niemand kommt momentan an Joscho Stephan heran. Er ist der Tommy Emmanuel der Gypsy Swing Gitarre. Wunderschöne Version dieses Klassikers. Perfekt unterstützt wie immer von seinen Freunden und Spitzenmusikern Sven Jungbeck umd Volker Kamp. Weltklasse Musiker.
Leute, lasst doch mal diese ewige wettbewerbsmäßige Vergleicherei. Ist doch scheißegal, wer an wen „rankommt“ oder nicht. Es geht um Musik, nichts ums Gewichtheben!!!

While I listen in awe to the virtuosic lead player, I’d be inclined to call this band The Gods of Rhythm.
As mentioned by @butthemeatwasbad, a masterful blending of jazz and blues/rock styles. Et kudos a M. la Pompe et M. le Bas, qui jouent absolut parfaitment.

I'm not that familiar with the strings that gypsy jazz players use. Are they easy to bend and use vibrato on, more so than say acoustic light strings? I can barely bend acoustic strings, light gauge. Do they have a metal core or is it a nylon core. Thanks.
