Surprise for me, as Italian, that the compilation ends with a track by an Italian beat producer with an Italian dialogue (it tells about “music” in a very beautiful way, like a poetry, by some man who seams to be a music teacher talking to his scholars, and he says that “music is not so much linked to reality and, if it is linked, is without ideology, without any associations, but at the same time, for a miracle, the music is able to penetrate our souls. What sounds inside us as an answer from noise elevated to harmony? And how it transform inside us that form of giant pleasure? …that links and moves (intended as tears on eyes). To what it needs this? And, mostly, to whom it needs? You will answer “to nobody”! And “to nothing”! But no… it is improbable…because everything, at the end, as a sense, one sense and one ratio!”. And then…. boom bap!!!!!!!!! Boom bap!!! Very touching! But let’s come back to this whole Vol. 9 compilation… yes yes, I wanted to put down a ranking. I did it, and it was very difficult, since the high level material. Let’s go. According to me, all boom bap can be divided into four groups: 1) Strictly Hip Hop; 2) Atmosphere Hip Hop; 3) Sentimental Hip Hop; 4) Chilly Hip Hop. Somebody can disagree, since music is a very personal emotion, but, to me, finally, this is the final classification per group.
