just wanted to say thank you for posting this. My compressor locked up also and took it apart and figured very easly how to fix it because of your video. Thank you
Wow thank you so much dude. If it wasn't for your video I was getting ready to dump my shit in the garbage. I was in the middle of a roof job and my exact compressor like yours in your video was humming n not working. I took it apartment like you did put it back together. Working like a charm. And yes it died cause I had no oil in it. The piston in there was jam cause no oil . Thank you . You save me hundreds. Jose from new york
Great video I was watching it for 1 reason to see how the reed valve plates and gaskets go together in order haha and you end up skipping that whole bit
I have a HF compressor. Makes a very similar noise when I go to start. But if I spin the fan blade by hand (before the reset button pops out) it will run like normal. It just won't start without that nudge. Ideas? There's a smear of oil around the sump gasket and it's impossible to see from the sight glass what the level is. Going to try draining that completely and refilling. Interesting video. Thanks. Nice to see one that wasn't hand held camera.
Yeah Steve, on the end with the fan there is a bearing on that shaft, oil that and that should cure the problem, as well as opening up the head and replacing the gaskets and Reed valve, and give everything a good cleaning.
Also these oiled compressors have to be on a level surface, so the oil slinger can get the proper amount of oil to toss around to lube properly, and only fill the oil to the middle of the red dot, and only use 30 weight oil not 10w30, also empty the water out of the tank bepending on level of usage every month.
@unity was there a small bearing in the piston? I ordered a piston fro eBay and seen no bearing. So wondering there should use a bearing so when I turns it rides on that inner groove correct?
mine will run for a bit on a hot day maybe 50lbs shutdown. on a winter day will run good.i bought it didn't work right I found a wire not plugged into one of the two capacitor blue wire looked like it was hot at that connection at one time.i plugged it in worked all winter outside. but summer days kills it and it maybe the next day before it comes back on.Any hints I'm open to help thanks!
Saludos desde Colombia, necesito saber porque medios puedo conseguir el pistón, la biela, y el cigüeñal; ya que aquí en Colombia no lo he podido conseguir, gracias!
Ive got a craftsman 4gal 3/4hp air compressor..it powers on fine and quickly builds up to 125psi...however...if i turn it off and bleed a bit of air and power it back on the motor just hums...wont power on properly...if i pwr off and let air all out of tank and then pwr compressor on it works fine and goes to 125psi....it seems that the motor is fine but something is locking up on the pump side...like an air lock...not allowing motor to turn...as long as the compressor doesnt shut off while under pressure it works fine

Why don't you show how to get the piston back in the cylinder?

Only fill to half of the sight glass, the red dot, and only use 30 weight oil, not 10w30 only 30.
It was the start capacitor. Fixed it.
