We can reasonably expect that Christiana Dell'Anna will be SNUBBED by The Oscars
next year. Just like Sean Patrick Flanery in Nefarious this year. And Sound of Freedom.

This has been a year of Hollywood implosion largely due to a glut of goddawful female superhero movies and series like The Marvels, Ashoka, Echo, and Madame Web, from which audiences have stayed away in droves. The writing and CGI are crap, and the “strong female characters” are devoid of any human flaws and devoid of any human emotion.
We first meet Cabrini struggling for breath as she prepares herself for the crosses she is certain to face every day. When she looks in the mirror, we see the face of a genuine superhero.

It was absolutely beautiful. I was so immersed during the entire movie. Loved how she was so immersed in 1889 New York City. It was beautifully shot and it was so inspiring. I had read about her life prior to this especially being my husband and mother in law are Catholic. Fun fact when my mother in law was about 5 years old she had trouble seeing out of her right eye. Her mom and her had prayed to Mother Cabrini to intercede for healing. After that the eye doctor could not find any more issues. That is amazing. I urge everyone to see this movie. I have been sharing with everyone. It will touch your heart. I think it will change the world. Love your review! For anyone that can write a review on rotten tomatoes and IMDb. It will help the movie.

I graduated from Mother Cabrini High School in 1950. This movie was true to her life history which surrounded and embraced the student body. She was a remarkable human being. So glad Angel Studios was able to beautifully portray such a woman. Thank you to these wonderful film makers.❤

I graduated from Cabrini in 1961, as did my sister before me, and my sister after me. I still have my ring. Prepared me for life in many ways. A wonderful experience. I was there when they moved her body from the old chapel to the new shrine.

The people who made this movie didn't want or intend for it to be a preachy religious movie and I for one was glad of that! This a biographical movie about Francesca Cabrini. The motive for making this movie is to rectify the fact that not enough people knew who she was and what she accomplished.
For you you to tell people not to recommend the movie is just plain stupid!

Did you know that Mother Cabrini vowed perpetual virginity to Jesus Christ at 13 years old? Is that necessary to share in the movie maybe not. But to almost entirely remove her intense spiritual bond to Christ is not a biography of a nun. It's a story about a woman who wore a habit and where God is an incidental part of the story. Mother Cabrini was great because Jesus made her capable. She actually said in the movie they couldn't count on anyone except themselves. That line should have said We can't rely on anyone but God. I understand a light approach but this was barren. It should be pointing to Christ in gentle subtle ways. It actually hurt me. But I want to see if I was too reactive so I'll see it,again. And finally calling someone stupid or what they think isn't very kind or tolerant.

I'm sorry you're disappointed that, In the movie, Mother Cabrini didn't mention Jesus in every sentence she uttered or wasn't constantly quoting the Bible. If you're familiar with Matthew ch. 25 the separation of the sheep and the goats then you should realize that clearly that's what Mother Cabrini's life was about.
The movie intentionally focused on the prejudice she had to deal with and rightly so. Prejudice because she was a women, prejudice because she was Catholic, and prejudice because she was Italian!
What kind of people would burn down an orphanage or steal money from children? People who are infected with the disease of hatred due to prejudice. That's what the movie brought out and needed to bring out. While you may be free to disagree with certain aspects of the movie, as you see it, to go as far as saying it is wrong to recommend seeing this movie is indeed stupid and I stand by my saying that.

@@salanzaldi4551 Yes, but still, the passion in Mother Cabrini’s heart to do all those things came from the love of Christ in her heart. To show that in the movie would not have hurt her story, only enhance it.

Saw the movie yesterday in the theater. It was really something. I am not opposed to religious based movies, but agree that the faith was not pushed and it was a ++ for me as it let me immerse into the story. I think they could have cut some of the flash backs about the near drowning to cut the time and move the story, but other than that I have no complaints. A moment of comic relief (in a very dark movie), was when the police broke up the fund raiser and the policeman said, "That's the last time there will be an Italian Festival in this town!" Also, a pleasant surprise when I recognized Virginia Bocelli as one of the singing children.

I absolutely loved this movie. It’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen in my life. Back around 1955 I went on a class trip to NYC to visit her tomb. She was in a glass case and her body has never corrupted. She is truly a great saint and this movie is magnificent. I would have given it five stars.

For those who may not have assumed the great love for and devotion to Jesus that drove St Frances Cabrini’s life as well as her intense prayer life, I did miss that aspect. Other than that, it was excellent!

I was very disappointed with the absence of God. It is a beautifully crafted film with tightly controlled and brilliant acting and direction. But I had no idea what Cabrini's relationship with God was, or what part God played in the events depicted. From a Catholic perspective, it did not feel authentic to me. I thought nuns who become Saints actually pray occasionally.

    • @SueProv
      @SueProv 6 місяців тому +1

@@melindaharrington900 I knew the Catholic spirituality wouldn't be heavily viewed, but I expected a reasonable amount of prayer. A few more nuanced scenes. Since am in love with Jesus, I expected to have some touches of Mother Cabrinis love and reliance on Him. Instead she told the nuns they couldn't rely on anyone but themselves. Cabrini was only as great as her relationship with God. It didn't have to be heavy handed but it needed more touches. I was actually dumbfounded and felt Jesus was ignored. It pained me. I'll go again just to see if I was too reactive.

    Do not recommend it! 👎
This film about one Christian denomination from the eyes of another denomination (not sure it was Christian) is what the film was trying to uncover - the false labeling of a group by another group. Saint Cabrini would have implored the help of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Christians call this with excitement, "Humility", the total trust and reliance on God and not self. This film shows SAINT Cabrini only relying on self. Very UN-Christian. Very UN-Saintly. Unfortunately, very Hollywood = Political!
"I don't like sports but watched a movie on sports and GREAT!! They did not talk about sports! So therefore, enjoyed the movie”
