I remember when I got this album when it came out and my big brother was in the hospital from drug related issues and I put my headphones on his head with this song playing. Nothing else needed to be said.
Always loved this song, but recently in my experience I’ve questioned what the possible meanings could be. In the past, for me, I was upset at a breakup and was chasing ghosts of that relationship. Currently I’m in a relationship and I feel my partner is chasing ghosts of her old relationship, I just hope she can move on and I’m not the ghost of a good thing. I guess we can be the ones chasing ghosts, and we can be the ghosts ourselves.
I think it's about chasing true love but in reality we don't find it in another person. People will always let you down and leave you chasing a ghost and we are selves are deceiving our own selfs about how we don't love like we should. All of this meaning is really found in God God is love and His love never fails and is perfect.
