  • Do you think that “Happy Medium” originates from happiness?
    If so, that’s not right.
Through his talk, Paraolympian Athlete, Nikos Papangelis shares with us how he found his "Happy Medium" even under really difficult circumstances. Nikos Papaggelis was born in Patras and is 22 years old. He is a cycling athlete, a member of the National Cycling team for People with Disabilities and a 6th Paralympian in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, while at the same time he is studying at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of Athens. At the age of 12 he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, the well-known cancer, on his left leg which he managed to overcome after many surgeries and chemotherapy. Two years later, he was re-diagnosed with osteosarcoma, this time in a more aggressive form, which had as a result the amputation of his leg. From that day his new life began, or as he puts it, his second chance where he had to learn to do everything from the beginning. Cancer cost him his left leg, but it gave him a life full of experiences, images, feelings and knowledge that he would not change. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
