Spot on. Him + Martinez is a fairly slow pairing. That's a concern. Say what you want about Varane's passing, but he's pretty quick.
This might come as a surprise to you but Varane and de Ligt actually have the same top speed of 31 kph.
The fact that 31 y.o. varane is still quicker than martinez in his prime is quite concerning
@@victorokeke3395 players like him and de Ligt make up for game reading and defensive awareness. Something that we are short of given how easy for other teams to do cutbacks. They also both excel in maintaining the line for offside traps.

@@victorokeke3395 yeah, we've been very vulnerable in the left flank during his absense this season and teams exploit this vulnerability coupled with Rashford not tracking back which leads to a lot of overloads.
Might also come as a shock to most people that de Ligt is actually faster than Todibo 31 vs 29 kph.
I like him, and i dont mind the fact that Upamecano and Min Jae are chosen over him as he still is class. However i agree that him and Martinez are not the fastest CB pairing and his injury record is not something we cannot ignore

De ligt defends better than Upamecano, Upamecano can't play under pressure, de ligt and min jae would be a better duo

I'd say that discipline alone is too underrated
He doesn't even have a bad injury record. Hardly missed games untill last season where he simply had bad luck with injury, same with Martinez. People claim Martinez is injury prone now, but he also had not missed a lot of games untill just having bad luck with injuries now. Having someone land on your knee in a freak accident or being rushed back too quick from foot injury after a failed surgery does not make a player injury prone.
I think we should sign Ousmane Diomande and Antonio Silva. Make a video on them pls.

Ten hag wants to play FIFA ultimate team tactics , he must go with meta defenders. If the CB doesn't have a pacey CB to cover then we will get cooked on the counter . Pretty sure that half of our issue is not being able to press up and squeeze the pitch which leaves gaps everywhere especially in midfield
He is a good profile but he doesn't tick all the boxes. We all know Licha likes to be really aggresive. When he came on against Spurs, he literally tracked Richarlison all the way into Tottenham's half. So, clearly, the other CB should be quick to cover the spaces in behind (best eg. Van de Ven at Spurs). Defending the channels, being tall (very imp!) and being athletic in general is also necessary. I might be very wrong but De Ligt seems a bit stiff at times.
Todibo is like a no brainer option. He ticks all the boxes apart from experience at a big club but was ofc scouted by INEOS, so there won't be a problem there as well (in terms of talent).
Also, Todibo was in the shortlist of Newcastle and Spurs, so atleast we can trust their scouts.😅😂
Also, NO MORE injury prone players please!! Availability is very crucial because we all know without injuries our season would he much much better until now!!
The concern is after last seasons injury crisis bringing in another injury prone player for 250k 5 year deal is risky af. Not the fastest either for the high line United want to play but what do I know haha

He is a good player, but he is a bit overrated on the ball, that was probably the main reason for him not playing when he is fit.

He's an improvement on Evans, especially in the long term, and probably on Lindelof too. We badly need backup for Martinez and his flexibility across the backline would be excellent.
If they are willing to sell, hes probably going on a cut price, idk what it would be, but anything respectable might be worth it if we also get someone like yoro, diomande or todibo

@@femi_danjuma the point is ten hag has been getting a lot of criticism for only signing those kinds of players. If Bayern are selling there is probably a reason, be it attitude, ability, or injury prone. I've not seen enough to judge but generally they don't sell players they want to keep if they can help it. He wasn't exactly a rip roaring success story at Juve either. And it will be yet another mark against eth if he fails.
He's a Bayern player. Also it would be ridiculous to not sign players on the sole reason that they're Dutch or from the Dutch league or Ajax. Give a financial or footballing reason specific to that instance. Also also, it should be clear by now that the overarching problem with our transfers has more to do with us than the transfer targets themselves. We've signed players from Chelsea, Bayern, Real Madrid, Juventus, Ajax, Porto, Dortmund, Arsenal and Inter Milan in recent years. The majority of them were very successful at these clubs and have ended up questionable at best over here. At a certain point it stops being everyone else.
One important aspect with De Ligt is his leadership. He is the perfect captain which United desperately. But i probably agree that there might be better options out there.
