    I just left a Goodwill store over here in New Jersey in the U.S. and saw that exact same The King and I soundtrack LP... it's funny that little feeling of a connection your brain makes when something like that happens 😊

    Hey Craig -
    Great Video - I love the travelogue videos (I know they take a bit of doing, but I really like them). Great pick on the K-Tel Christmas Record (all the records, really). When it comes to box sets, I ALWAYS check them out - more times than not, you will find some unplayed vinyl contained therein (people buy them new, thinking they're going to play them, but then they never do - go figure).
    Very much looking forward to see what's waiting for you in "the basket of LPs..."
    BTW - you live in a beautiful area. Wow. Gorgeous.
    - Cheers

      Thanks Paul.... They are fun to make. I could possibly do more - but you need to be brave to walk in to stores whilst holding up a camera/phone etc..... I'm actually of filming record stores / speaking to owners about their stores etc.. that is a goal of mine... You are so right on those boxed sets.. the vinyl is usually near mint!!

    I am amazed at how so many of the albums in Australian thrifts are the same as the ones we have clogging up the stores in Canada too. I agree with some other commentators that the thrifts are better for CDs than LPs nowadays.

    • @CraigVinyl
      @CraigVinyl  6 років тому +1

      I agree Cameron.... CD's you can still find plenty of good stuff but I tend not to look for CDs. Maybe I should start doing so given I just picked up a CD player! Cheers

    Like seeing James Last, he never made it big in USA, so his records are scarce here. I actually have some Kamahl akbums, also an unknown in America . All that adult style music interests me although I don't buy all of it.

    I kind of need to ask you a question I recently purchased Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon and it says in the album the mark it was rich in March 2nd of 1973 but I think it might be an original how would I tell

      Hey Josh. What is the catalogue number? I recommend you go to Discogs - then look up the number and search for the copy you have. Cheers, Craig

    that Bachman turner Overdrive album - Not Fragile is a classic. did you keep that one?
    i actually bought 1927 debut album last weekend, thats a under-rated aussie album also.
    I would of gone through the CD's rather than the LP's.
    I have that 150 Golden classic box-set, but my labels are cream from memory, and the box is is crap condition, never listened to it either, haha.
    take care man.

    • @CraigVinyl
      @CraigVinyl  7 років тому

      I really wanted Not Fragile - however it was too beat up..... I have the 1927 album and a couple 45s already. Back in the day I really liked their music... Some of these places have a heap of CDs but I never look through them as my focus is vinyl at the moment. I should start looking at them just incase !!! The labels are pastel colours that I have - box is near mint - and yes - I don't know if I'll ever play them!!! Cheers...

    Looks like the same exact crap as all the thrift stores in Canada. Good albums are getting harder and harder to find. I do still find good titles but it’s few and far between. Last good score for me was about 25 original verve and blue note jazz albums in mint condition here in Vancouver that would have been gone in 5 minutes if I hadn’t of gotten to them first. That Styx Pieces Of Eight album is classic prog/ hard rock ...too bad it was crapped.

    You bought that Janet Jackson 7", didn't you? :) You shouldn't flip past those loose records with no jackets so fast. I swear I saw that Tom Petty live record you were missing ;)

    • @CraigVinyl
      @CraigVinyl  7 років тому +1

      I thought twice about it but left it. I didn't even see the Transvision Vamp single cos I was filming and couldn't read the titles properly through the camera. Maybe I should have...... Very funny about Tom Petty - made me laugh a fair bit - good on ya!!!

    • @CraigVinyl
      @CraigVinyl  6 років тому +1

      Yep - pretty much the same anywhere!! Getting very hard to find good stuff anymore - unless you put in hours of crate digging every week. I've pretty much resigned myself to paying fair market value for everything I buy now.

    blinkin flip, Aussie chazzas are even worse than english ones, peak for u lot, you have my condolences

    • @CraigVinyl
      @CraigVinyl  6 років тому

      Thanks for your condolences... yep - mostly demoralising walking through thrift stores theses days. I don't focus on thrift stores anymore - haven't for quite some time now. Whilst other vinyl nerds are out there finding stuff every now and then, I just don't have the time to go to every store on a regular basis AND I live regionally which makes it more difficult. Cheers.

    Hi Craig. Really enjoyed your video. I've been buying records since the early 80s and I've never seen that K-Tel pop-up before. Pretty cool. It's nice to see a road trip end with some unusual buys. Take care - Brad

    I really like these kinds of videos. I just recently posted my first video where I go thrifting (not the first video I ever posted by any means, but I mean the first time I went thrifting and recorded it). It's always nice to see people crate digging!
    Also, I have on my "to do" list a video about K-Tel albums. I have several of them and, although the audio quality is garbage, they can be worth listening to find long forgotten songs. It's kind of cool how that Christmas album has the pop-out in the middle.

      Hi Kelsey. Thanks for watching. Yeah, good to film something different. I love Carole King and I saw you mentioned her the other day. I already have a copy of that. Every song on that album is excellent - great lyrics, a lot of emotion...
