I had a break of several years without riding a motorbike. In 2023 I decided to go back to 2 wheels. I did test drives from 650cc to 1200c. The day I test-drove my Boneville T20 Black/Mate, just 100 mts. were enough to feel and decide this is the bike. It's your first bike, and you decided for she; it's a bike you'll fall in love with at first sight. Dear Wive on a bike, I am riding a 2019 Bonneville T120 black. It is my first 1200 CC motorcycle. After these couple of years, my heart still makes a little jump, every time I see it in the garage and my spirit lifts as soon as I feel the saddle. It is big and powerful for a first bike, but certainly not wild or difficult. If you're generally a sensible, relaxed rider, it's a fine choice, well done! Looking forward to seeing more videos.

Recently retired qualified mechanic here with over 40 years experience in the trade. 44 years experience riding street bikes. With my knowledge , I know much better than to think I know more about the bike then the engineers who designed and built it. Always funny to read remarks from people who think they’re going to “upstage” the engineers and show them how it’s done, the delusional fantasy. 😂 You will only make more noise, mistake it for power, and do long term damage to the engine. Yes, I totally expect somebody to say I don’t know what I’m talking about. Make that, several somebody’s.
I’ve been debating T100 vs T120 myself. Had you ridden at all before this? I have no experience and am about to take the MSF at 46. Seems like many advise to go lower power or a smaller bike you can drop and scrape up. But, the idea of getting a better bike like the 120 right away really does appeal. Especially with rain mode that can tame the throttle if that’s really an issue. The T120 spec also has much better brakes as well which should appeal to a new riders safety. Seems like the general consensus on city driving is the 120 can be a bit much, but better for touring, so maybe it depends on the kind of driving one does which seems perfect for you. Thanks for the video!
Hi, Before getting this bike my only driving experience with motorbikes was from the driving school when I was getting my license (Yamaha MT-07). I think that the T120 is not at all intimidating if you are ok with the weight of the bike. That’s the only thing I was a bit scared about when I started riding it. I had similar thoughts about the rain mode (thought I might use it more) but I have been using only the road mode as the bike is, as I said in the video, so mellow. I have now ridden my Bonneville for 6500km and I’m happy I chose the T120! I hope this helps :) It would be nice to hear which was your choice.
@@wivesonbikes Thanks for getting back - really helpful to know! I have sat on both, and they do seem pretty similar to me. I take the MSF in 2 weeks. I’ve already found several great 100s, 120s, and even scramblers around - both new and used, so I can’t wait to get the license and give them a try. I will definitely update this thread and let you know what I end up with. Thank again! 🙏
OK, I promised I would get back. I was considering both the 100 and 120. After I took my moto safety class and riding 3 different bikes over 2 days that were between 200 and 350ccs, I was then convinced that 900ccs was more than plenty for me personally. I happened upon a mint 2020 T100 Black and couldn’t be happier with it as a first bike. If the day comes when I absolutely need more power, I could upgrade, but honestly I don’t see that happening for a while, if ever. I still have not ridden the 120, so I can’t make a direct comparison, but the T100 I find super smooth & predictable with plenty of power. Great first bike! Cheers!

You have described the Bonneville very well. You have also made the case really well as to why a Bonneville T120 might not be the best “first” big bike. However, you have proved that it depends on the rider, on how they have been taught and their confidence level. Certainly the 120 engine is not intimidating but the mass of the big can take a little getting used to. You have also done every well sourcing this bike as it looks brand, spanking new. Aweome video ! enjoyed other videos as well - how does the pillion ride in T120 feel, is the suspension enough for 2 people. Planning to buy new one, need advice
Hi! It is not the worst for the pillion but definitely a test ride would be in order.
Suspension has felt okay for 130kg load, but I would check that too in a test ride🙂
My first bike also same color.
Awesome choice :)
If you had to pick up a t120 right now which colour scheme do you think is best? gold line black edition?
Hi, First of all, great question! I would definitely go with the black edition still. For the scheme I would pick the MATT JET BLACK MATT GRAPHITE.😎
Just an awesome bike.
I think so too :) -M
This was so nice to listen to.
Thank you!
Hello, sorry im late to your channel,I have to ask are you able to flat foot this bike?we are the same height and i thought i would have to go with the speed twin.
nice
Thanks
So the throttle at low speed is smooth and not jerky?
Yes I think so :)
Hi! You got yourself a very nice ride, congrats on the brave choice as first bike. I ride a Street Twin and I'm looking at luggage options (difficult to find anything that doesn't spoil the look of these bikes). How are you finding the OEM nylon saddlebags? Thanks, enjoy the ride!
Thanks! :) The nylon bags do the job, but I would like to change them at some point to something more retro looking.
Nice
Enjoy it 👌🏼😊
멋지네요!!

@@apexxxx10 That's cool!
Awsome 👍
Thank you!
So how did you get this as your first bike? Don't you need to get a class A license then take the class B license with a 250cc bike?
If you are over 24 you can get the big bike license straight away.👍
Should have bought a Splendor as a first bike 🌚🌝
Not in this life😂
