Hey Tom, thanks for the review and thank you and the DiceTower for all the joy and insights you provide so consistently and with so much passion. I have a question about the wall in the background - what games do you put up there for display? Just newer games or is there a special "house rule" for what games are displayed (e.g. awarded, sponsored, newest, DT Library ...)
Tom did answer that in a Q and A recently (two weeks ago I think). Summary is basically he makes the call no science to it. Pandasaurus gets some games becuase they sponsor board game breakfast and live streams, but beyond that it's just whatever Tom feels like putting up there.
Hey Tom! You forgot to mention about the mission cards. Probably not a big thing but I don't know if they show up in scenario 3 or not. I know they become part of the campaign though.
They appear in scenario 1. However you only ever get one mission card in scenario games. Apparently in some campaign chapters you get another mission card and have to choose 2 of 3 missions that you're going for
@@Sumanitu In chapter 2, the game added mission cards and I got 2 in total. You have to cover up half of one of the mission cards, only showing 3. I didn't know if they show up in scenarios or not. Haven't played those yet; only chapter 1 and 2.
I absolutely agree with Tom on this scenario thing. I've played Maracaibo twice, and I likely wont play it again because of the whole thing of the story and "campaign". I don't care for it, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Great Western Trail is an awesome game, and doesn't need a "campaign". Also this game just looks like a fiddly mess which has one gimmick, the cloud sleeves. I couldn't even really keep up what is happening in the game, or what are people trying to do from the overview. There are boards here and there, move airship, plant trees(?), attack cities, guess what's under sleeves, deck build, choose cards to perform actions.... And people say GWT is complicated game...
Nice review Tom! Thanks for consistently bringing great content to the board game community :)
Lots of people waiting to see this one, thanks Tom!
Agree for the chapters. I just want to play the game.
Been waiting to see this one.
My biggest issue with the components is the stickers... I don't like stickers.
Seconded. Hated it so much we did a sketch about it.
The stickers heard you and is now a little sad..
They didn't bug me too much as there were only a few. You wanna talk stickers. Fast sloths has sooo many! 😬
Want, want, want!! Thanks for review!!
This one deserved a 4-way review
Like the new fly-over of the components
Did they change component drop?
@@MrScrawnjuan yep, a while ago
No component drop=sad panda

@@AzureRaiden Yup. I was aware of that as its listed in the rulebook. However all 3 of the scenario cards only use a single mission card
More I like Islands In The Mist which I've got it.
Agree to the rulebook, It is not clear.
Decent game, but for me it’s not close to any of GWT, blackout, Mombasa or Maracaibo.

Maracibo plays just fine without the campaign.
It really isnt fiddly or complicated. Maracaibo and GWT are way more difficult to learn than this one.
Just don’t play the campaign in Maracaibo - it’s an optional extra
That's my problem with expedition to new dale It doesn't have a stand alone mode and I'm never going to play the campaign.
The game was not hit compare to his other games.
Guns and weapons? No thanks.
