It's over 30 years since I sold my Commando - something I have regretted ever since - but the sound of those peashooters takes me right back as if it was yesterday and has the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. God I wish I could afford one now!

I don’t think people can tell just how nice that bike is. Given that it was built a while ago and is ridden frequently and still wins awards at any bike show.

Beautiful Norton ! I have the Interstate 1972 750cc Commando with a 5 Gallon Long Range Gas Tank ! I changed the handlebars and front fender to Chrome ! The original owner had alum. fender and rusty bars, Now she is sweet. Love the sound she makes. SNORTIN NORTON IS FOR REAL !

I always thought, “What a beautiful Norton,” whenever I saw it at club meetings. I wondered why I had never seen another like it. Now I know why. He literally built the bike from parts. Very well done, George! Beautiful style with excellent detail work as well.

That's a real beauty. One time when I had my Norton, I decided to follow my cousin and a friend of his, who had just bought this used 67 corvette, up to my cousins cottage. The only trouble was that we left at about 8 o'clock in the evening. I had a full tank of gas, but it was 120 miles to the cottage. Back in those days all the gas stations up north closed after 5. I started running out of gas with about forty miles to go, and we all pulled over. The guy with the vette, managed to siphon a couple of beer bottles of gas out of his tank and I dumped it into mine. I managed to make it to a small town with two gas stations on the main corner, and I told them too carry on and I would stay there till morning, so I settled on the porch of one of the gas stations for the night. I tell you, it was a rough night, but I survived. Then the sun came up and the guy who owned the gas station across the road from the one I stayed at, opened up early, so I pushed my bike over there and filled up, and was finally on my way. I tell you, it was a lesson learned.

LOL Another Langlitz Leather jacket on a tasty uber clean brit bike wow what a great way to start the day, with a fresh cuppa and stunning views from Portland! The Commando bike is so clean and so soulful sounding. Congrats to the owner very nice indeed. Mike if I keep this up I will have to get a Norton. Great another Brit bike to fettle. Sorry to go on about the jackets but here out east no one has an much of an idea what they are so it is good to see others anywhere.

Hi Timmy, thanks very much for your comment. I just asked George and he replied as follows: "The rear sets were made by Kenny Dreer. He originally made a set of 10, this is one of the 10. Later he made some other ones that were a little longer on the brake pedal. So they’re basically one off. I modified mine by adding a little boot guard on the brake pedal. The shift lever is a extended reverse stock style lever. I added a indent ball and spring in the fold up right hand foot peg."

Another beautiful classic. IMO too many ugly motorcycles these days especially those overweight adventure bikes or bikes with that overwrought 'Transformers' look. No wonder 'retro' styled motorcycles are now hot sellers.

Looks like Avon Roadrider AM26 on the rear. The front looks like a Avon Roadrunner.

Thanks Dave, yes many of the guys in the club are running these.

Is that a 150 rear? If so, any problems getting it on? And are you happy with the Avon’s?( also what size front Tyre? And if they’re both bigger than stock, what’s the handling like?😊

@@stevelawson-blight8895 I don't think it's bigger, Steve but I will check with George. I think he is running the same tyres as many of the guys in the club. I am running Avon Roadrider 100/90-19 on front and rear and have been very happy with them.

I’m itching to put a 150 on the rear 😁
