  • My friends ... the great experiment. An attempt to build a large SSTO freighter. fully fueled it would even be able to go to other worlds. But it will have to wait for now as the time needed to complete such a craft could be days or even weeks. Hope you enjoy!

MUSIC : Kerbal Space Program 1 and 2 in game music.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS :
    1. When do you upload videos? - I make videos as often as I can.
    2. What do you do for a living? - I work a full time construction job plus any overtime I can get.
    3. Where can I download the craft file? - No downloads as of yet. I don't have the time, but these videos are meant for you to be inspired to build your own crafts.
    4. WHY isn't the video in ULTRA REALISTIC SUPER HIGH DEFINITION? Because unlike your rich ass that can afford a KILLER PC, I have to use what little money I have, to make sure that there's a roof over my head and food on the table before I can spend it on things like CPUs and GPUs.
    Thank you.

    THE CHANNEL:
This channel is about Kerbal Space Program and can consist of SSTO building tutorials and rocket building tutorials. Some times the videos contain bad language and adult humor but on a low level. In these videos no planet is safe as we can explore space together by landing on places like Duna and Jool and build large Duna colonies or orbital space stations. Also, Interplanetary SSTO builds seem to be a hot topic in the KSP community so I will be touching on those as well. I also build SSRT space craft. These are fun to build and easy to fly! Warships or space warships are one of my favorite things to make. Stock weapons can be very challenging and so when building them over time , you get to see the evolution of the designs. Same thing with the Warships. They get better and better with each new design.
Now , I know it's considered cheating but Kraken drives are a fun way to put things like warp drive ( like in Star Trek ) and or hyper drives ( like in Star Wars ) in your Kerbal space program game. These game mechanic loopholes are fun to figure out as you find out how they work and how to incorporate them into your star ship design.
Everything from Outposts on far away moons and Mining Stations around asteroids and comets, you name it I've ether built it or it's on my to do list! I still haven't really explored things like building SpaceX starship or any of the NASA spacecraft, and I think that's because it been done to many times. Recreations of spacecraft can be found almost everywhere on UA-cam now and so making yet another one seem redundant. Only if the spacecraft recreation is of one that I loved as a kid will I even attempt to build it. Like the Apollo Moon Lander, or the whole Apollo rocket! Now that rocket was cool!
Many people have ask me if I'm ever going to wear my Mandalorian helmet ever again for my videos. And , yes. when the time is right, and I get a new wabcam, I will be dawning the helmet once more!
Thank you everyone! ... This is the way.

Y'know... I've seen Stratzenblitz75 make craft LIKE this. But even he has to compromise by having them have extra Booster and fuel packs. He got an entire Heli-carrier (yes - like the Avengers SHIELD Helicarrier) to Laythe and had it hovering indefinitely in the skies of Laythe. But he had to have an almost ridonkulously huge set of rube goldberg-esque fuel tankage and extra engines to make it work. And that's NOT what you're after.
Maybe more instructive would be the GIANT Submarine he lifted to Laythe under it's own power with no extra tankage. But even THERE it required a stop at Minmus for a long extraction and refuel op.

Also - have you considered the B9 XL part set? This is a subset of the classic B9 Aerospace parts that features GIGANTIC single parts that might help you cut down on the part count while still allowing you to build something HUGE like what you are going for. It's a part set almost purpose made for making things like Macross or Battlestar Galactica scale ships. I've rarely seen anybody REALLY GO FOR IT and try to make something practical with that part set. But if anyone MIGHT make it work, it might be you!

I know Vaos prefers strictly 100% stock, and even uninstalled two visual mods to maintain this. But, for the sake of mental health, using XL parts to make an XL vessel makes sense to me. This vessel isn't being entered in any competition, and sharing the craft file would only require installing a single mod. Good idea Logan!

My suggestion for helping it work, nacelles. Front nacelles could help your thrust problem, and if you have the patience to make it work, use robotic parts to rotate the nacelles. You’ll have less lifting engines being dead weights during ascent and the extra power to push through the atmosphere, at the cost of dealing with robotics

Your design is still doable, even moreso, the original one without the VTOL. You're basically trying to do a horizontal launch, but you need to think of it more as a space shuttle, and you need a large amount of rockets and boosters for this to work. You can always jettison them later. A good rule to remember is that you need a solid thrust to weight ration, and 2 to 1, 2 pounds of thrust for every 1 pound of weight. Start there, and work up to a 3,4, or 5 to 1 ratio if need be. What makes your ship look ugly now can always be jettisioned later.
    You can still do this!

for the doors you could use docking ports. make it so that they dock when the door closes and undock when you want to open it. that is how i usually keep moving parts solid when i want to. also maybe a rocket trajectory would be better for this ship? (basically straight up) using a more shallow angle is usually only good for ships that use lift and/or airbreathing engines and both are not the case here. i think put a few more engines at the front to flip the nose up and then activate main engines. lastly using propellers to get off the ground might be a good idea?

Why did you use *passenger modules* for the basis of your design? Of all the mark 3 options, it’s the least useful to you. Why not use fuel tanks, or cargo modules? Both would serve you better

I have a question for you to think about Halo Reach. How did they launch the ship in the shipyard? Maybe the answer help you save fuel

Your failures are vastly more inspiring and interesting than my successes in KSP! In any event, nicely done! 🖖😀

    Hey VAOS, I have a question/suggestion.
If building it in segments and attaching all the segments together didn't work, and the noodle type way took a whole bumch of struts and autostruts but was better, what happens if you do spaghetti starting from the middle and expand in both directions?

A ship that large needs to be launched from the mun or low kerban orbit.
