nice video! it was really cool to hear your thoughts about these levels, especially the "heroes hideaway". i remember sadly groaning when i saw the platforms needed to go up and down - i felt so guilty for being discouraged by a level that looks so iconic. personally, i don't think you came off as overly subjective at all and highlighted the context of each level and how their layouts either hindered or helped game design fundamentals. i feel like your judgments were very balanced and fleshed out. i loved hearing your opinions and being reminded about all the details of games i haven't played for years!
I do really like Hero's Hideaway I think it's definitely the most distinct area in the whole series, but I won't lie I think the way they handled Moss wasn't so great. It just ended up being an annoying mechanic where every morning I would go and beat up moss then play the level as usual, I wish she was more of a threat but perhaps not around for 100% of the day, only appearing in intervals or something.
@@GravityBouncer they'd be remakes if they were super different but 1 and 2 have only been rereleased. And 3 got a remaster with added content. But never a remake. We're talking pikmin 1 and 2 in the 3 engine or unity
@@berkeleycreager3601 oops i kinda always forget there’s these distinctions between remake and remaster and all that lol. tho i don’t think I’m exactly fully wrong, remember that Pikmin 1 and 2 started on the GameCube. those Wii controls, wouldn’t those kinda be a remaster at the least? that’s 2 there, and then ig i could agree that 1 and 2 on the switch are rereleases, tho there are changes to some of the treasures, besides that the games are functionally the same so rerelease it is. and then the 3 deluxe with the extra content
i feel like heros hide-away is incomplete and plain. Like i was expecting to go up the stair and go under a door into another room, and bust our way into a wall and navigate to yet another room, or take a detour in the wall flip off the current to travel up a electric conduit to the attic, and then finish up via using the drain in the sink to travel through the pipes to find our way into the upstairs locked bathroom either coming out of the bathtub faucet or the drain or sink faucet(s) and using the pipes to get into the master bedroom. >.> T_T the caves we had we're too linear, wish we had more levels and complexity. barely even used flying pikmin and rock pikmin to destroy crystal walls.
Ehhh forest of hope was a really basic first area to me, and I'm genuinely baffled about how high it placed because I just can't see anything particularly good about it, even after the explanation. The only thing I can think of is that it got point just because "it's the first level from the first game so it's iconic and automatically beats all the other amazing areas despite not having much over them"
that's fair, the thing that did it for me was that it just kinda felt like the perfect, quintessential example of a perfect pikmin area, at least to me and my friend (who i got feedback from for this video)
@@ecstaticwooper368the simplicity is the charm to this level I think, this is the stage I always go back to when I want a challenge, a challenge to see how quickly I can gather all the ship parts, not many other areas offer that type of vibe imo, also the music slaps
I've changed my opinion on the forest navel too since the last video, we really did have major dandori issues. I agree mostly with the placements honestly. I just think 4 is boring on repeat playthroughs. Theres not really much room for optimisation to me. I did really enjoy it my first time through, but won't be replaying it as much as the others. Serene shores and primordial thicket are still good levels though. Perplexing pool is still my favourite area in the series.
My favorite areas for each game Pikmin 1 distant spring Pikmin 2 valley of repose Pikmin 3 tropical wilds Pikmin 4 hero's hideaway Least favorite area's of each game Pikmin 1 final trial Pikmin 2 awakening wood Pikmin 3 formidable oak Pikmin 4 blossoming arcadia
Maybe you could give us a some visual helps sometimes. Capters or the ranking system? Something to get more structure and a better overview. [English isnt my first language, sorry for mistakes)
I do like this video a lot but sometimes it feels underbaked because of the bias about these games, the difficulty of seeing why you chose these rankings due to expecting the audience has the same opinions, and just straight up ignoring flaws some area's. It feels as if you just put in your thoughts as if you first played these games and didn't truely review them, for higher picks you explained more reasons why you liked them than flaws for the bottom rankings, its not truly comparing them its slapping them in a ranking cause you can.

The music for Serene Shores is easily the best in the series. Really does make you feel like you’re on a beach at sunset
My favorite areas for each game
Pikmin 1: Forest Navel
Pikmin 2: Wistful Wild
Pikmin 3: Garden of Hope
Pikmin 4: Giant's Hearth

9:26 yeah awhwhuehahaeuluwhahehan !!! Not enough people are saying this.
I approve of the Forest Navel redemption arc
Every Pikmin game has had a remaster now except Pikmin 4
Can we get Hey! Pikmin Deluxe lol
In a series with 4 main games and a spin-off, there’s been 5 remakes

okay part of your disappointment might have been from those crazy ass expectations
