Thank you for my daily dose of nostalgia. As a 30 year old this brings back many saturday mornings heading to the store with my mother and over time building up the dinosaur (we did the same with the bugs magazine spider) and having a great time. I was talking about this magazine with my girlfriend and decided to google it and found this video, I feel like a 4 year old again. I'm hoping to do something similar soon with my 3 year old.
Translated into many languages and Sweden was one of them. I was like 7 years old give or take when this came out and my mum subscribed to it for me because I absolutely loved Dinosaurs like crazy. I love this book, I was just randomly googling for it to ask a friend about it and it turned out that he too have had the same stuff ( _and he's New Zealand, crazy!_ ). Needless to say, Jurassic Park as a child was amazing once that came out. It'd be so awesome to make this a thing again. I soo want that glow in the dark T-Rex. And I think we really should preserve these magazines by scanning them in to PDF files or such.
Wow I just found this video to explain to my son who's doing a school project on dinosaurs the magazine I used to collect.when I was a boy.....I didn't get to collect.the shell I completed.the skelliton..... I great trip down memory lane thanks.for.taking.the time to document this mag and share Thumbs up
HOLY SHIT! This is like a nostalgia nuke bomb, memories just flood back when I see the artwork of the trex. Awesome video man. Thanks for the blast from the past.
Oh yes!! I have the entire magazine collection! I also still have the glasses, and all four Dinosaur models including the Tyrannosaur with the skin. I also have the binders. I've actually restored the models as best I could because some parts were missing so I had to make new ones. I think they look just as good .
When I first started reading these I was two years of age, living with my mother and sisters in Rockford Illinois. I was awed by the artwork and colorful pages. I use to escape in them when I read them. Later on when I started living with my father he bought the encyclopedia edition.. (or at least that's what I called It) It literally had every issue in one huge book. I LOVED it. Anyways thanks for posting this video!!
I had the full collection. As a dino enthusiast kid i loved these. The t-rex model got lost somewhere in the late 90’s however. And i recently took the books out of storage and found out some issues are missing, bummer. But i still have the 3d glasses. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.
Wow wow wow thanks dude that was such a blast from the past and a great trip down memory lane. Cheers for such an in depth run through of the magazine!
YES! I remember these! My dad and I used to buy these when I was a kid. They had these every month at my local candy shop and I remember completing the T-REX model! I think the bones glowed in the dark too!
I recently discovered in my storage area in the basement the entire collection of these issues in the binders along with the 3-D glasses. I bought them for my son who, like many boys his age were (are) obsessed with dinosaurs. I cannot find the glow in the dark dinosaur..... yet. :)
Wow! So many memories coming back! I had two binders full of these magazines, but unfortunately I think I threw them all out :( I also collected the Tyrannosaurus skeleton and plastic skin. I think I must have started with the re-release because I remember seeing the ad for this on the TV and making my mum buy me the first issue, but I would only have been 3 in '92.
It brought me back great memories when I was 16 years old 1993!! After the JP movie came out in Mexico. Every week I Bought it, Mondays. I learnt many things about dinosaurs. It was very sad for me because in Mexico the magazine or the issues no longer came out. During 1 year I was buying it. But I still loving Dinosaurs. I love Papo brand, the best for me. Running T Rex, feathered Raptor and Acrocanthosaurus are the bad!!! Greetings.
I have the full collection in mint condition of these, 8 binders full and the whole swap it card collection too, which includes the limited edition gold cards my father needed to order and buy. I wonder what they are worth? Probably nothing but I will keep them anyway.
A lot of memories for me aswell so that means I must have been 3 years old ! Going through the pages of the magazine I was saying to myself. Yep I remember that page Yep I REMEBER that picture ! Thanks for taking me back
i loved this magazine. i remember getting a new issue every Friday with my £1.50 pocket money. I still have all 104 issues. Although I do remember being quite bummed out by issue 45 as the "cover girl" so to speak was a wooly mammoth and i was like "that's not a dinosaur get out my magazine" lol
Wow!! I remember every page!! I still have them tucked somewhere. I thinkI didn't miss an issue. Cards and a folder to keep the cards. I even traded with my friends. Another thing I did remember was my t-rex skeleton had a bad pelvic fracture, rendering it useless being unable to stand. Haha
Yeah I collected those, but mine were from 1997=1998, same thing though. Not sure how many they brought out but I still have my collection (with about 6 binders) and there must be between 200-300 there. I also got the build your own, glow in the dark T-Rex. I loved these magazines especially the 3D page, the comic page and also the quiz page and the 'ask the expert' page. I remember saying I wanted to be an archeologist/paleontologist because of these books and annoying my family by asking them questions from the quiz page. I got some fossils at some point as well, can't remember if they were a promotion from this series or something else though. Loved seeing this video anyway, I wouldn't have thought anybody cared about things like this anymore.
I own all 8 issues of the Chinese version of the magazine. I guess that's the first season or something cause it took all eight books to finish that T-rex skeleton. I still remember there was a 9th issue but I didn't buy it since my interest shifted to Japanese superheros and comicbooks. Anyway, this video really brings my memory back, thanks!
Last weekend when I visited my parents I found out that I still have all the magazines from this series in Dutch, from the original series in 1993. I didn't have the binders, but I do remember having the glow in the dark skeleton and the skin. But since I already had a lot of dinosaur figures and wooden skeletons back then I didn't care for it that much (which in my opinion were better looking than the magazine model, but except for the JP toys I've had, those toys look awful compared to current days Papo's and such). The series contained 52 issues with the last one being more of a index magazine so you could look up certain articles without searching through the whole series. I think it contained more than 1200 pages in total. Which is a lot of information for a 9/10 year old!
Ik spaarde deze serie ook, in '93, destijds kochten mij ouders hem bij de Edah. In een tijd zonder internet was dit het beste wat een kind kon krijgen die gek was op dino's.
great video, yes i deffo did have this magazine now that ive looked at it properly. i dont think i had loads of issues but i had a few, maybe i was collecting bugs magazine at the time so thats why i didnt have many. i do remember having half of the skeleton though. :)
I also bought an English book which seems to be a compilation of all the issues of this magazine, just in book form. In addition I remember there was an info cards set to collect which at least partially features the same sources, mainly the comics I believe. Still have to find a complete set of those, I really loved those glossy pages :)
Man, I remember trying to find info about this magazine a number of years ago, but it seemed like it had just vanished off the face of the Earth. I bought issues 2-5 as they were in stores (I wasn't fast enough to convince my mom to get issue 1), but then you had to subscribe for a pretty exorbitant amount for the rest, and we just couldn't afford it :(
You're right, girls also collected this, I know because I was a girl and still have all (ALL) this magazines on my room. I remember the Skeleton was had a 'Glow in the Dark' effect, and that the actual skin parts never did fit into each other... so that was a bit disappointed a small girl trying to fit all the pieces together and then the parts falling off, but it was by far the best dinosaur magazine collection I had. The 1st issue here on south america came with an Iguanodon poster. and the last issues ever publish on my country even included a small fragment of what I assume it was maybe a Stegosaurus skeleton... it was publish by "Planeta de Agostini" and I don't know if we actually got all the issues but it was like 80 or 90 magazines... I need to recheck that one out.
Thanks for bringing back these memories, JC. I had a bunch of these magazines and a few of the binders, too. I remember looking forward to getting the next issue in the mail and the next piece of the model. I collected them all up until the T-rex model was complete and they started sending out Triceratops pieces. Does anyone know how long this series lasted? Did they have a plastic skin for the triceratops too? Was there anything else after that?
Wow, its been TOO long! Funny thing was when I first got a hold of them, I was about five; and that was around '99 or 2000. So at that point they were far from perfect condition since an older cousin had given them to me. But I can just remember I had the biggest smile :D
I loved these magazines, I'm not sure where my collection is now though, I got pretty far with it, I remember the skin being pretty awkward! I started collecting the 1997 issues too.
I am in the process of moving and I have found my collection. it has all 104 magazines and I think all 96 cards. I have sadly lost the 3D glasses as a kid and the dinosaurs skellington was attacked by my cat and I think was thrown away. But I have the magazines and cards. Cards are in perfect condition some of the mags are a lil bit damaged. But wow love them.
A live and learn vid this for me my friend! Pity we didn't see it re-constructed but like you say maybe a vid for another time. Enjoyed! Cheers Fuzz. Ohhh uploaded also today, might bring back a few memories........;@)
sweet. I have the whole collection and binders, and the whole card collection that came after the dinosaur model. Even have the special gold cards. Must get this down from the loft for a good look.
I remember this as a giant book. I think it must've combined all of the magazines together? it was over 1000 pages. Surprised I don't see any comments about it, hoping I didn't imagine it o_O
i got these think there in the attic somewhere?, issues 1-38, loved the glow in the dark skeleton, didn't understand why they later added skin over it though...kind of defeats the idea of having a GLOW IN THE DARK skeleton. also wish i could have got some of there massive posters they had!
Wasn't there a documentary about dinosaurs with scenes from the making of jurassic park. it had allosaurus biting iguandon, t-rex and other dinosaurs dying from the asteroid hitting the ground.
Of course I also had the first few issues of this :) And it took me quite some untill I actually bought a complete collection with all the issues. This was only a few year ago. Luckily this set also included the skeleton as well as the skin parts. But yeah, in fact the model is horribly bad. But who cares, for completeness sake. At least the magazine is very nice, even though some of the art is completely outdated (it already was when it was published LOL). Btw, I have the Dutch version.
Do you also remember the Dinosaurs! poster series!? I just posted about them, but do you know if there were others in the series? ua-cam.com/video/7Wa0Cf8il28/v-deo.html

I had a monthly subscription for a year (thanks mom :-) ) It came with a red wallet and a stegosaurus ballon. Lost the wallet a long time ago, I miss it ever since.

We had it in Canada- 99 cents. LOVED It! Thank you for the memory flashback!
Yeah and in Quebec too ! I have it in frensh ^^
Wow I just found this video to explain to my son who's doing a school project on dinosaurs the magazine I used to collect.when I was a boy.....I didn't get to collect.the shell I completed.the skelliton..... I great trip down memory lane thanks.for.taking.the time to document this mag and share

HOLY SHIT! This is like a nostalgia nuke bomb, memories just flood back when I see the artwork of the trex. Awesome video man. Thanks for the blast from the past.
I used to have this as a kid! I might still have the magazines in a box in my attic somewhere.
Damn i remember this, i loved these magazines when i was a kid, i still have them all!

I was thinking about this magazine yesterday, and had to look it up. I miss my childhood days.
I had all of these - the t-rex, binder, everything. What amazing memories! The art work was fantastic. Rocket fuel for a child's imagination!
When I first started reading these I was two years of age, living with my mother and sisters in Rockford Illinois. I was awed by the artwork and colorful pages. I use to escape in them when I read them. Later on when I started living with my father he bought the encyclopedia edition.. I bloody loved this magazine. I was 5 when it came out. amazing.
This takes me back, thank you! I owned this. I remember those pages.

Wow wow wow thanks dude that was such a blast from the past and a great trip down memory lane. Cheers for such an in depth run through of the magazine!
20 years ago I got this in Chinese version from BeiJing,Thanks for sharing, this is one of the best part of our JP recover
but they only translate the first 22 issues, the rest we don't know why they stopped.
Dude, seeing this again almost made me cry.
Wish I still had mine... so much nostalgia. Thanks for sharing these!
Loved reading this when I was a kid. Had those green hardcover ones. Wish I still kept them though.
Boy, does that bring back memories! Thanks for sharing.
YES! I remember these! My dad and I used to buy these when I was a kid. They had these every month at my local candy shop and I remember completing the T-REX model! I think the bones glowed in the dark too!
Remember buying it every two weeks in Poland in 1993 :D

Thank you for your comment I enjoyed reading it all. Im sorry to hear they stopped selling it - it was a great magazine!
I have some of these... brings back memories! Thank you.
My favourite magazine growing up besides the old EGM and Gamepro magazines. Cracked too.
I have the full collection in mint condition of these, 8 binders full and the whole swap it card collection too, which includes the limited edition gold cards my father needed to order and buy.
I wonder what they are worth? Probably nothing but I will keep them anyway.

Such great memories!!

I read and owned the whole collection of the Dinosaurs Magazine
Thanks for bringing back these memories, JC. I had a bunch of these magazines and a few of the binders, too. Had them all, lost them in my 20's
I play a lot of ark now, have a few fossils and am planning on a tatt next
oh my god I had the exact same one. Have no Idea where it is now.
Loved this series!! Does anyone know what happened to the card series associated with the magazines?
You can still get them on the secondary market but I dont think they were ever re-released to my knowledge! Well remembered
My Friend Gave me Her Brothers Collection of these, i don't think he is missing one! I Have Like 10 Binders Of Them
China imported this magazine at 90s also. I have about 10 issues. It was 15 RMB at time. Not cheap one for Chinese in 90s.
Can anyone provide a link to a commercial that was aired along with this magazine? I loved that commercial, but can't find it anywhere.
Denis 001 I second this
Good old times , with the 3d centerfold :D still have my 3d trex shaped glasses :S
Hi, do you have the manual to assemble the dinosaur ?
Hello there. The model on the video is very valuable to me. Is there a site where I can buy the same?
i got these think there in the attic somewhere?, issues 1-38, loved the glow in the dark skeleton, didn't understand why they later added skin over it though...kind of defeats the idea of having a GLOW IN THE DARK skeleton. also wish i could have got some of there massive posters they had!
takes me back I had the alot but ripped it up
doyou know where I can get hold on the glowing in the dark skeleton and its skin?
I had all of the magazines and the binder wen i was younger but i dont remember wat happened to it
I have all those magazine's too lol
I used to have loads of them with the folders but sadly I sold them. I never had the t rex either which is a shame.
I got it at a bookstore/fleastore/not sure. I was happy to have it. but i don't know where it went :,(
i used to have the complete T-rex skeleton, but missing some parts of the skin.
Wasn't there a documentary about dinosaurs with scenes from the making of jurassic park. it had allosaurus biting iguandon, t-rex and other dinosaurs dying from the asteroid hitting the ground.
Animal Lover86 There was a stop motion TV episode called Death of the Dinosaurs (1985)
With the binder!
you know thetre was some tradeble cards with those too
I have that magazine.
I love the artwork! so much better than this cheap computer generated shite these days! Proper works of art!
got all the magazines but no dinosaur
P.S. I bet these get re-released when Jurassic Park 4 comes out.
I remember JC 😎
And all the fossils
Of course I also had the first few issues of this :) And it took me quite some untill I actually bought a complete collection with all the issues. This was only a few year ago. Luckily this set also included the skeleton as well as the skin parts. But yeah, in fact the model is horribly bad. But who cares, for completeness sake. At least the magazine is very nice, even though some of the art is completely outdated (it already was when it was published LOL).
Btw, I have the Dutch version.
I have that!
Practically built the whole thing 😂😂😂😂
Do you also remember the Dinosaurs! poster series!? I just posted about them, but do you know if there were others in the series?
ua-cam.com/video/7Wa0Cf8il28/v-deo.html

No, unfortunately I was born in 1994.
I had a monthly subscription for a year (thanks mom :-) ) It came with a red wallet and a stegosaurus ballon.
Lost the wallet a long time ago, I miss it ever since.
