2nd or 3rd time watching this excellent, educational video. This time I took 2 pages of notes. Hudson is an excellent educator. Full disclosure: I am also a subscriber to Hudson’s Substack, which I credit for helping me to collapse time frames in getting to the $1,200 income per month mark reasonably fast as a part-time writer.
Thank you, Hudson, I want to give some advice, the music sound is a bit high which makes it not easy to focus on your speech. Just an advice and thank you again
Hey Hudson, thanks for the useful videos. I'd really like to figure out, what's the best practice to repurpose content between Substack and Medium? I know Medium allows reposting articles with canonical links whereas Substack does not. But how would that affect the organic reach - especially for the Medium article? Seems like Medium has better SEO reach than Substack, so I don't want to kill the Medium reach.
It's a really good question. I'm planning to start reposting my Substack posts to Medium in the next few months, so I'll have more information then. But, my preliminary thoughts are that it's probably smartest to post to Medium, first. And then repost to Substack a few weeks later, making small tweaks (headline, introduction, etc.). Since Substack's traffic is mainly internal, this seems like a good way to improve visibility. But, I'll have more information once I start experimenting! 🙂🙌
Lol...I'm watching this video, and the top video in the suggested list next to the comments is a woman who has been on Substack for 1.5yrs and is leaving it.
I'm still working on developing a set of best practices for Substack. But, from what I've observed, personal stories and stories about culture/politics seem to perform well. 🙌
although i published 2 articles and have decent claps i didn't get paid and payment option is not available for people in India please help me in this issue!
Ah, that’s too bad. 🥲 The Medium Partner Program is unfortunately not available in India. So, your next best option is to promote affiliate links. Here’s a video on how my friend uses Medium to earn money without the Partner Program: ua-cam.com/video/BoKeRrN5O84/v-deo.htmlsi=ERGl5ZlEM3-z6Pe0 I hope it helps! 🙂🙌
I went all in on Substack in the last 30 days too. Its uniqueness is in the Notes platform, a replacement for X or LinkedIn, and recommendations. Then there are several other features that increase reach and conversions. Beehiv does not have them.
I haven't tried it myself. But, funnily enough, I just looked into it for next week's Writer's Hub post. It seems like a nice option but has about a sixth of the users of Substack. 🙂💌
@@ignaciomartinez8725 Hmmm, interesting. I've just looked at the traffic analytics, but haven't dove into its interface. What do you like/have heard people like about it? 💭

The Medium Partner Program only pays for member reads. So, if you're leveraging organic traffic, you'll have to sell/promote products or services to get paid. 💰
@@hudsonrenniewrites Thanks so much. How about: How long does it take for good stories to rank organically, let's say as a new member, before I join the Medium partner program? Note that I don't even have a single follower at the moment. ha ha.
@@RichVisionKenya It totally depends on your story. I've seen brand-new accounts post viral stories. But, generally, it takes at least a few weeks to start building an audience. 🙌

Solid analysis, thanks for the insights Hudson! Currently weighing up Medium, Substack, and Patreon.
