Entropy makes for an interesting kind of transference of energy. My CAD teacher used to be an architect, and he said a structure's job is to fall apart, and an engineer's job is to make sure it doesn't fall apart all at once. Interestingly enough, one of the most simple and ancient hunting traps is the deadfall trap. You prop up a large stone or log just enough to get some bait under it stuck to an L7 trigger (very, VERY ancient trigger design, likely over 10K-years-old). The animal crawls under, and upon interacting with the bait, the L7 triggers, and gravity pulls the mass of the stone/log down on the animal before it can escape, often pinning it in place and still alive (which is good, because the meat will stay fresh until it dies). What we can learn here is even when something appears to be doing nothing, gravity is still acting upon it, so there is still a store of energy. Kinda like the gravity light, a device that has a light powered by a weight that is on a cord attached to a clockwork gear assembly that instead of moving a pendulum like on a grandfather clock, it's geared to spin magnets to create an electrical charge strong enough to power a light. The gearing allows a very small distance traveled by the weight to ratio out to much greater distance needed to spin the magnets fast enough. Lastly I wanted to describe this as entropic force, and after a quick search to see if maybe that's already a thing but different than what i'm describing, as I was never required to take a physics class in public school, and have never been formally educated on physics, I was surprised to find out entropic force/interaction is indeed a thing in physics, and is essentially what I just described, gravity being one of the forces involved.
