Also, I'd have added, while no *net work* is being done ON the weight, *you the individual* are still *doing work* on the weight, it's just that the work being done by gravity pulling it down perfectly counteracts your contribution, that's why you still feel tired just holding it in place.

Entropy makes for an interesting kind of transference of energy.
My CAD teacher used to be an architect, and he said a structure's job is to fall apart, and an engineer's job is to make sure it doesn't fall apart all at once.
Interestingly enough, one of the most simple and ancient hunting traps is the deadfall trap. You prop up a large stone or log just enough to get some bait under it stuck to an L7 trigger (very, VERY ancient trigger design, likely over 10K-years-old). The animal crawls under, and upon interacting with the bait, the L7 triggers, and gravity pulls the mass of the stone/log down on the animal before it can escape, often pinning it in place and still alive (which is good, because the meat will stay fresh until it dies).
What we can learn here is even when something appears to be doing nothing, gravity is still acting upon it, so there is still a store of energy. Kinda like the gravity light, a device that has a light powered by a weight that is on a cord attached to a clockwork gear assembly that instead of moving a pendulum like on a grandfather clock, it's geared to spin magnets to create an electrical charge strong enough to power a light. The gearing allows a very small distance traveled by the weight to ratio out to much greater distance needed to spin the magnets fast enough.
Lastly I wanted to describe this as entropic force, and after a quick search to see if maybe that's already a thing but different than what i'm describing, as I was never required to take a physics class in public school, and have never been formally educated on physics, I was surprised to find out entropic force/interaction is indeed a thing in physics, and is essentially what I just described, gravity being one of the forces involved. I was surprised to see electromagnetic and nuclear are also entropic interactions. I wonder if I missed a calling. I still remember years ago the teachers being baffled by my failing long division on the A.C.T., but scoring extremely high on the calculus and nuclear physics part... Ah, well, I enjoy being an Uber driver; nobody bugs me about my "wasted potential." I do love learning on my own, though. Maybe I should check out The Great Courser's Plus...

    • @JohnKRiordan

Other people can do whatever they want), but I can tell you that there is definitely a lot of people who are still using it right now. Like I want to do more exercise, because being lazy takes up energy. So when it takes energy anyway, I can use up the energy in a much better way when I train more efficient. Now it feels like being lazy is a waste.
Muscels are doing something anyway. So why should we not exercise right away?
    And the most beautiful message:
Even when we think something is not useful, it is actually useful. We may just not get it 😊

Holding the weight in place is doing something because to hold it in the air in one place you are picking it up at the exact force of gravity. So because of gravity it isn’t moving but if you could turn off gravity suddenly while I’m holding the weight in mid air, I would fling my arm and the weight up with the same force as gravity pulls down, right? Because of gravity holding the weight still uses energy but in an environment free of gravity it would expend no energy to do the same thing.

It’s a mechanically operated bypass valve. Designed to operate in the food industry.
These can be used when ingredients or chemicals are being mixed mechanically in an autocratic system. Means one valve can do the work of multiple valves in the same space.
This was useful back when motors were expensive and placed in one location. Like in a windmill operation that has an automatic sorting system. Now days they just add more robotic equipment.

I regularly watch your video and found a chance to give some expiation based on physics, the work done is loosely described as scaler product of Force and displacement but it is actually changing changing the energy of the system. As a good example, the widely known experiment of holding a object in the air, like in your video the weight, we are constantly working against the gravitational pull. To explain more easily, when the weight is on ground it has minimum potential energy, on a table it has a higher potential energy. Similarly, when held in the air with hand the potential energy is higher than the minima at the ground level. To keep this energy imbalance in the weight system (not the whole system of lifting & holding) some energy is needed to draw from the system of lifting & holding and there the actual work is done. This way both part of the system has an energy imbalance but as whole there is none and it seems we are not doing any work but when we are actually doing it.
