This is about the African diaspora and our various cultures. It has nothing to do with all the other non-African human populations. Contrary to popular belief, yoga is an African innovation that Indians get credit for. Bob Marley was Jamaican. This song is not about Jamaican culture.

Let's stop the debate and just enjoy this beautiful piece of music. This song and video show how brilliant and deep Asake's knowledge and appreciation for the art is. I have learned right here some valuable lessons about some unique African cultures without traveling to these parts.
The song is a sample of Michel Legris' 'Mo Capitaine' performed by Jason Heerah (it's in Asake's description as well).... so the song is definitely 'sega', like our Mauritian brothers and sisters have said. It also has elements of goumbe as our Senegalese brothers have said...which shows Asake has sought to mix the two, probably seeing the similarity between the two. He also chose to use the Senegalese culture in the video to pay homage to the lebu community.
The fact that both genres of music from 2 different countries are similar (I might even add that there are similarities to Nigeria's apala music/beat) kinda suggests Africa was ONE before we were separated by borders and it's why our cultures are similar? This is interesting if you think about it. Thank you Asake

Thank you Senegal 🇸🇳 for taking us Nigerians 🇳🇬 into your home. 💘 😻 💜 💛 💚 🧡 💘
Great work brother
As a Nigerian 🇳🇬 living in Mauritius 🇲🇺 I’m very proud of this song, and to personally know who sampled that intro make me even prouder to be African. Big up to Jason Heerah and the original writer Michel Legris
.
Edit. Please this comment doesn’t not entertain hate speech towards any country. Na God I take beg ona!
Mauritius is a cool place. I lived in Bonne terre for a while.
It's not true. You are wrong my dear. The rhythm used in this song is Senegalese and it is called "Gumbé". He comes from an ethnic group called Lébou. This is why the clip was shot in Senegal.

Say what u want but the whole song is based on Mauritian Pure Sega Music🇲🇺
You leave nigeria go that kin country
Any good reason? 😡
Brother could you explain to us Mauritians what is this song about? The original if you understand it is about a woman crying because she fears her husband will not come back from a fishing expedition.
The popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer has released his first single of the year, 2023 titled "Yoga" a song that reflects the actual Meaning of "Yoga" which is relaxation across the lyrical content, prelude, music video, and element that make up this music. He joined Senegal culture and Yoruba Culture to form "Yoga" this is mind-blowing and amazing, all thanks to Magic sticks for a work well done too. Asake is a creative intentional Singer who clearly understands Music and how to make his listeners subscribe to his sound, all of these qualities made him headline a lot of Shows and made him the talk of the day in 2022 in the Music Industry. I can say that with no doubt Asake has come to stay as I believe he still has a lot in store for us all and I will be here to review every one of his songs that will be released Year. well done Asake, We dey feel you.
And do not forget the intro is in Mauritian Creole from the late sega singer Michel Legris as well as all the melody. "Mo Capitaine" from Mauritius
@@priscillalegris-gregoire7186 can you pls, give me the translation in English?
@Barmusic TV The song talks about a woman's husband gone to war. " bienmalere, biemalere pou twa mo zen fam.... "- Too sad for you, young woman...all husbands are at sea, on the boat.
In the video, there is a lighthouse that were used for boats. "Mo trouve signaux signale...." He saw the lighthouse giving signals that "Bato talapa" the ship is coming...
The lyrics of Michel Legris' songs are full of imagery which are difficult to translate and are not common in our modern Mauritian creol. He also used some swahili...like "apana wapi...sana". He was an unalphabet but travelled a lot...During the war time he met many Africans and retained some swahali and Arabs words

We are in this together bro
My husband strikes again!! I do feel like what happened in his London show deeply affected him! He wiped his IG and layed low for a little while. I feel like I can feel that through this song and video. He wants to stay grounded with himself and his fans! This song/video is breathtakingly beautiful 💙💙💙💙
I just love the way Nigerians don’t only show Nigeria but every other African country to the world. 🇳🇬
Tell that to Ghanaians because they say Nigerians don't promote all Africans countries
Sad that we promote them and these people genuinely hate Nigerians for no reason.
Ghanaians lie about us alot!!!!!
Africa is the true Eden
@@ruthigboh6169 Ghana is just the annoying sibling. We love Ghana nd they do too. ❤️🇳🇬🇬🇭
We will continue to show love even though they don't appreciate it.
When I first heard the drums it sounded like moutya from my country, Seychelles, and the Creole in the background in the beginning made me confused as I don't hear this in any song overseas, haha! ASAKE you have somehow been able to blend so many of our cultures from Africa and represent all of us. So much unity in this song. Beautiful :) and thank you!
I think it’s a mix of Senegalese and Mauritius music
Creole mauricien sa . Non péna même accent
Asake is brilliant 👏. Your degree in Theatre Art is really paying off.
He has a degree in Art ..no wonder , dude is vibrating like a real work of art .

This song definitely deserves a Grammy , Asake with a Touch of Youssour Ndour and Baaba Maal. This is pure classical African traditional song presented from the land of Authentical African Music Senegal.
