I came here from Juan's channel. I just wanted to say that I think what you and Juan and your friends are doing for your respective children - and having them take part in the build - is fantastic. Sharing the build with us is just the cherry on the cake. All the best for the rest of the build and for many happy days of flying to come.
Apparent bonus of rectangular wing.. no 'washout' needed. Instead of stronger gear, could you use bigger softer tires? Be interesting the weight difference Vans versus Ercoupe wings. Age wrinkles sure noticeable !
Yes, that'd be an interesting comparison. Will have to try and weigh them both. The Ercoupe wing has the interesting angled ribs. I wonder how much weight the nice curved tips add...
Thanks for sharing James. I soloed in a Champ in 1964. Owned a couple of J3's, one of which I flew from Indiana to the west coast. Best years of my life . . . Thanks for sharing your aviation experiences . . . Juan is the best . . . Bob
haha, we've been wood-working over the past few days, we definitely need to build his arm muscles up! I end up doing all the sawing! I think I remember the same thing when Dad would be doing all the work when I was young...
That is a very nice plane that visited you fellas. I hope yours is just as nice. I like that it is a stick and rudder plane. I am an old 'Cooper' but that is okay. The youngsters should have no limits placed on them. I love that they are all so inspired.
I’m always amazed at the fit from vans! All my pieces have fit well first time. Shocked at how accurate everything. I almost have my 12 wings completed 👍
Thanks for the update James ! The RV-12 is coming along nicely. I see you were able to capture Juan in his natural habitat. 4-6 hours to build a part - Wow! Yea, spend the $15. That be a salary of about $2.50 an hour. 😮
Very cool insight on assembling a wing! 🤗

"I can't hear Juan." Priceless!!
Have to lock him in the cockpit more often! ; )
Excellent video and subject.

RV -12 is looking good! Our RV-10 is coming along too.
Hey AirSally. Glad to hear the RV-10 is doing well, I hope to stop by and see your build one of these days.
Yeah that would be sweet. We got the engine the other day.

That IN to CA flight sounds great fun! I'm really treasuring my time flying now - I know it won't last forever.
I am enjoying the building of the RV-12!
Charles will remember that rivet forever. Good job by all.

Hi @blancolirio (Juan). Glad I found this video 🎸
Kudos for going for the beefier gear!
Good progress 🎉
Good stuff! Thanks James & JB
Nice progress
Waddaya mean you can't hear me!!...LOL!
as usual your progress is great, Charles is getting along well!

If you are going to leave her unpainted, would make for a fantastic formation flight with the coup. Two birds shining in the sun!
All they'd need to do is polish off the tags on the sheet metal, and KEEP it polished.....
Nice progress. I’d like to build this model also. I didn’t see the wing skin three final drilled holes de-burred before riveting…sleight of hand?
I think so. I wish I had time to capture a full how-to, but it's really just random clips strung together. Thanks for the comment!
Oh there is also Juan " Blancolirio"! What he is doing with a RV12? Is for the kid... ah no, is it yours?
We went into this project together. A project to get the kids building stuff!
Great to see the progress on your RV-12 - a venture for both families 🙂
Looking good James, and Juan approved. Then a chance to salivate over Dick's '12' - very smart machine.
Oroville looking much better!!

Can't wait to see if fly. :)

Coming along nicely there James. Certainly a lot cheaper to build than the Dark Aero but no retracts.
This is coming together fast - but not quite as fast as my first reading of the title!!
Glad we don't have to use rivets in building model planes.
RV 12 update ?
Planning on getting back into that project soon...
