What do you brush over the clay in the beginning??

Probably slip -- a mixture of water and clay (I use scrap clay that was accidentally dried up).

Does this kind of clay dry with the air or you jave to bake it?? I bought a cheap clay that dries on air and it ok but it crackes easily while i make it
